Re: N900 Unexpected reboots
I think new batch has improved something. I got mine 4-5 days ago, boot up out of the box, didin't install too much, 3 programs only, everything pretty much default, networks half 2.5G half wifi always on, skype and gtalk, 3 email accounts, 10G MP3, that's it, uptime now 4 days, never reboot, super stable, battery time is about 24-36 hours per charge, moderate used, about 2-3 hours web browsering, 1-2 hours music, some streaming video, 5-10 minutes phone call etc, every day.

Re: N900 Unexpected reboots
I have received my replacement unit yesterday in the evening and since then - zero reboots so far. In about the same time the old unit rebooted about 10-15 times. So I genuinely hope this issue is sorted for me - fingers crossed!
Also, I have an impression that new unit is slightly snappier and more responsive. But that might be a false impression since I didn't use N900 for few days. |
Re: N900 Unexpected reboots
I received mine yesterday, and within the first two minutes its rebooted!
I've tried flashing new firmware, NSU didn't work it got stuck at 3 minutes, using flasher I changed firmware to GLOBAL and then UK variant, nothing. Then I tried flashing the eMMC and it just says changing device to flash mode and nothing happens! Now it doesn't even do that, tried it under windows XP(32) and windows 7(64). This is not good! I've just paid £500 for this and I have to wait for a replacement! I want someone to bring it to my house and swap it! I don't want to be without for 3/4 days or more! This is definitely a H/W fault, I've changed the battery, changed the firmware, deleted all stuff preloaded on the device and still reboots! I am not pleased! |
Re: N900 Unexpected reboots
it is sort of a hardware fault. but if u do the work around your unit unit will be vefry sttable and probally faster than a good one without the disabling of power off mode.
i am sure that this problem can be fixed with a fw update as its unlikely that is due to a faulty component but more likely a conponent that is varied and the driver isnt optimised for that variance.. i am happy with my device its super smooth with the workround. albeit i carry a spare battery |

I just tried updating the F/W on my openSUSE 11.2 PC and all I get is Unable to enumerate USB devices! I've been waiting so long for this! EVEN the Nokia N95 and other which supposedly had their own problems I was able to fix with debranding etc. but this is a new kettle of fish, and it seems very different from the meamo i've been used to. LSUSB gives me this: Bus 001 Device 011: ID 0421:0105 Nokia Mobile Phones E61 (Firmware update mode) it's really an N900 |

Re: N900 Unexpected reboots
I just received a replacement unit yesterday and its rebooting constantly. Its actually worse than my old N900 (sent it in for other reasons than the reboot) but are we sure its hardware related? Should I send back the N900 again? Its spent more time at the repair center than in my hands so far...
reflashing it and putting it into R/D mode and taking it out of R/D mode did nothing. Still getting reboots. |

Thanks, I figured it out. But it still didn't do anything. I think I'll wait until the new year for an update before I send it back. |
