It is too generic statement. Could you provide concrete examples?
I can confirm that N900 MfE does not pull over all fields per EAS protocol specs, it works only with the fields which are supported by the device itself. E.g., it makes no sense to retrieve the list of blacklisted applications from the server (the list of apps which are not allowed to be executed by server administrator) as there is no support for this functionality in the device (which is linux device, not Windows device).

Yep. This is protocol limitation. We have even created a hack to push ALL the contact data into the server's "Notes" field as a text. It was done during developement time but it was decided not to go with this solution as it is a "hack".

about the multi calendar support, i dont have a personal end buss. calendar but i do use google a lot for 1 personal one and besides that 2-3 public/shared once that are not my own like my own football schedule and the football schedule of the team i am following. I would love to be able to sync those as there own cal to the n900 currenly even nuevasync will not sync them even as 1 cal (why i dont know they seem to support it somehow the shared weather they have as an option)

but i hope that there will be a 3th party impl that just runs on the phone talking directly through the google api's and updates the cal db.

Interesting remark you made. I did not mention Java 'cause the subject of this thread is MfE.

Java is actually item nr 2 on my wish-list. Since we use SUN solutions for thin client computing - I would love to find out if the Nokia N900 would actually be the first phone that can handle thin client. And the ability to use Java is a requirement (and the only requirement) for SUN thin client. (Using SUN Secure Global Desktop or SSGD.)

I noticed a different thread that says Java could be done. But I really hope that it will be supported "out-of-the-box" any time soon.

Any expectations around Java you care to share?

MfE in N900: Can I edit hidden settings?
 

Today I have managed to bring the e-mail client of Web OS to use ‘Smart Reply’ instead of standard reply. I just had to edit a java script file.
I don't know much about Maemo. Is there a possibility to edit such a file inside the N900 too, to have MfE use Smart Reply? It already uses Smart Forward, so I am confident…

I am somewhat confused with how the N900 behaves when playing around a bit with the settings. OK, I do use a Scalix server, not a genuine MS Exchange, but it worked fair enough for me in the past with my E71. The N900 just won't sync.

When I enter the correct server domain on the phone I get a "Error in Exchange-server". When I put the IP address I get the well-known "Either the server requires a secure..." error. It seems that those two error messages have different causes. But why? I would assume MfE to behave exact the same way no matter what the entries would be because they both point to the exact same destination. Especially in regards of the obvious Echange 2003/2007 compatibility issue as main cause in mind?!

One thing that surprises me though is that there's no trace of certificate check. At least when trying to connect via IP address the certificate should show an error since it's only certified for the domain name, not the IP address - but it doesn't. I wonder if there's a certificate check at all...

No. It is not the settings. It is rather mail client "feature".

didn't you read vitalys reply to a post from you in the other thread?

MfE doesn't support smart reply because the Maemo 5 Mailclient (called "Modest") needs some modifications before it's possible.
