However, I am not happy with the workaround as this is a workaround :) The logs you have sent are looking a little bit strange for us and we don't have a concrete idea of what is wrong at our side and how this specific use case shall be supported. If any engineer from Scalix could contact me (through private messaging mechanism for example), I would be happy. We do not support non-MS services officially as you know but I still want to have as wide coverage of ActiveSync-based services as it is possible. |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
I'll look over the wiki tomorrow morning.
Don't let this thing give you too much of a headache. AS support on Scalix is very much at the beginning and AES 12.0/12.1 are not fully implemented. So might as well be that MfE is right there, but Scalix isn't... I'll see what I can do for you in terms of getting in contact with Scalix. So long TOM |

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
Hi Vitaly, At the start of this thread you said that the n900 using mfe was compatible with exchange 2007. I could not complete first time sync with our hosted exchange provider until i installed the 2.2009 update.
Now the calendar, tasks and contacts are synchronised but the email seems to be on a never ending sync and there are no new emails. It took over 5 hours to get this far. I had great hopes for the n900 but now i am starting to see why the iphone and blackberry are best sellers.....they simply work but i still hate them. Am i doing something wrong? Vodafone told me that i had void the warranty because i updated the phone. Their support couldnt help so i was on my own. Hence 5 hours later. |

Thank for your answer I have already seen that bug, and added a comment and my logfile from that sync.

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
The initial account sync has finished and the emails contacts and calendar have also synchronised only after applying the 2.2009 update.
Now when i go to the emails in mail for exchange i do not have any new emails and the timer just keeps spinning. Also if i close the mail windows and open it again the inbox is not showing and appears only after the sync starts again |

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
I do not have the phone with me, i was setting the phone up for a client today. The emails did show after the first sync and all the contacts and calendar items were updated.
When opening the mail window again there were no new emails even though i had received emails in my outlook. The scheduler is set to always on. I will be at the client again on Friday and will try imap4 Spasibo za pomosh. |

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
I'm aware that the N900 can't handle responding to meeting requests right now, but has anyone observed it interfering with the proper functioning of meeting requests in Outlook?
Since getting my N900, I've noticed some meeting weirdness, particularly with meeting updates; sometimes I'll just end up with two copies of the meeting on my calendar. I haven't noticed any pattern to it though, and sometimes things do work correctly, so I haven't tried to dig into it yet. Most recently however, I had a meeting that was updated that did not require a response. Despite receiving the update, which outlook believes has been moved to a new time, the request remains unchanged at the old time. This one is much more troubling, because while I can handle some quirks in the N900's calendar, it's unacceptable for my Outlook calendar to be flat out wrong. Edit: I don't have most of the logging enabled right now, but I do see this in the log at the time the meeting update was received: activesync[1386]: AS-LIB: Item 5:667 update failed with status 7 in folder 5 of class 1 |

Someone about 20 pages back reported a problem talking to an exchange server over 3G versus wifi. It was still under the sales release, however I am experiencing the same problem now on PR 1.1 talking to an exchange 2003 server.
I set up MfE to talk to my company's Exchange 2003 server, and initial and subsequent syncs work fine as long as my N900 is on wifi. However, as soon as I turn off wifi and let MfE try to sync over US t-mobile 3G (shows as either 3.5, 3G or 2.5 on status bar depending on signal, tower busy-ness, whatever), then MfE fails to sync saying it is unable to connect to the Exchange Server. I turned on syslog and grepped out the lines with activesync in them, and looked through it. When I am only connecting using the 2.5/3/3.5G, I have entries in syslog that you see in the attachment gprs_fail.txt. Some intermediate rows that appear unrelated were deleted, and I changed my company's mail server hostname in the URL to protect the innocent). So it appears the HTTP OPTIONS call is timing out after 30 seconds over 2.5/3/3.5G having received no data. When I change network carrier to wifi (WLAN_INFRA), the request appears to start working. The relevant part of the logs (again with stuff that appears unrelated removed, and my company's host name removed from the URL) is in the file wifi_works.txt. Anyone, especially Vitaly ;-), have any idea what might be going on here? If someone in a position to help feels they need the full detailed syslog, I can send it privately with everything intact, or if you need me to search for particular things I can. Some things I do know: I can get to the OWA web interface on the same exchange server host using the stock browser over https just fine over 2.5/3/3.5G, and MfE works over wifi, so the problem is not reaching the exchange server itself. The only thing I can think of is if somehow t-mo USA is blocking or mangling the HTTP OPTION request, except that I've been using MfE and Roadsync for years over GPRS happily with an n95 and then an e71. Any other input I can provide or tests I can try and report on I will be happy to do. I prefer not to use wifi on a permanent basis to do exchange sync, and in fact testing this was the first time I've ever even connected my N900 to wifi. Thanks, Jonathan |

I have a problem with syncing some contact images.
I exported all my contacts from my Palm Treo into VCARDS. All of the items imported perfectly. Even the images came in my N900. But when i tried syncing the contacts with Zarafa (but thats not the issue here i think), most of my images got lost. I looked in the logs from Zarafa and found out that some contacts missed image information and some didn't. Today i put logging on for the as-daemon and i see these lines in the log (the relevant id = 621): Code:
Jan 21 17:04:29 Nokia-N900-42-11 activesync[1383]: AS-CONTACT-GET:Code:
BEGIN:VCARD622 doesn't have a picture and on my N900 and there it gives an error that it's not a PNG. Anyone (Vitaly) knows whats happening here? |

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
I too am having an issue with MFE 2003. I cannot get past the inital account creation, I am getting the "Either exchange server requires a secure connection or your account is disabled" error. My cert is NOT self-signed, it is a godday cert. I have the cert for the server and all root and intermediate certs for the godaddy CA installed in cert manager. I am running the latest firmware, and non-provisionable devices are supported by my server. I can see in my firewall logs that my phone is connecting it sends about 700b and receives 4k when the session is closed after being open for about 45 seconds. The logs from the phone are below, I hope someone can help me get around this. If you need more info let me know.

Is HTML email supported by MfE? I'm using Exchange 2003, everything works after PR1.1 except I was disappointed that everything is plain text. Is it a problem specific to me or does all MfE lack HTML?

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
Hi Vitaly and all the Maemo team
I finally have my N900 back for replacement cause of re-boot bug. I upgraded to firmware PR 1.1 and installed a MFE account. I had to manage the issue of certification authority but I resolved it. Now MFe is working with Exchange 2003 server SP2 BUT I still have some issue: 1) Calendar and task is not working. I can sync address and mail but not them. I saw the bug 7971 and vote it. It seem I have the same problem because I certainly have some recurring events (most of them are birthdays) in my exchange calendar. As soon as I have a little time I'll try to delete them but it would be nicer to have a fix for this problem. 2) How is working the contacts sync ? I saw that if I add a contact in the phone is copied on my outlook contacts but If I delete one contact on Exchange is not deleted on the N900. I set it to resolve conflict giving prioryty to the server. EDIT: I made another try and this time the N900 gets the updated contact and deleted the one that I erased on outlook. So point 2 seems OK. As soon as I'll try to do more test I'll report about them. For now I quit waiting for your reply. Greets from Italy, Cesare |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
Hey everyone,
I'm also unable to connect with the latest build (51.1); I believe my exchange server is 2003, but I'm not the admin and it's a fairly big organization. This is what I got from the log: Jan 23 14:25:09 glamb-n900 activesync[1804]: AS-LIB: FolderSync started Jan 23 14:25:09 glamb-n900 activesync[1804]: StoreProxyImpl: getFolderSyncKey enter Jan 23 14:25:09 glamb-n900 activesync[1804]: StoreProxyImpl: getFolderSyncKey end Jan 23 14:25:09 glamb-n900 activesync[1804]: AS-LIB: FolderSync restart with SyncKey=0 Jan 23 14:25:09 glamb-n900 activesync[1804]: StoreProxyImpl: clearStorage enter Jan 23 14:25:09 glamb-n900 activesync[1804]: StoreProxyImpl: setFolderSyncKey enter, aSyncKey=0 Jan 23 14:25:09 glamb-n900 activesync[1804]: StoreProxyImpl: setFolderSyncKey end, res=0 Jan 23 14:25:09 glamb-n900 activesync[1804]: StoreProxyImpl: clearStorage end Jan 23 14:25:09 glamb-n900 activesync[1804]: AS-LIB: Sending FolderSync request...
