Alguna idea per a les nits del Long Weekend?

Unes birres informals aquest dijous?

A l'agenda vaig afegir una Festa Fiesta Party (al capdavall el nom no sona malament ;) ) però hi ha algu que tingui idea d'on la podem fer?

Fa deu anys que vaig començar a emigrar pel món i el meu coneixement de la nit barcelonina és avui dia escàs, obsolet o nul.

Well, I presume those of you coming from abroad will be accommodated in Cornellà? If that's the case then no idea about good places in that area..

Same for me... I've been in Barcelona two times, and I know some good place where we could go for a beer or even to eat something very good, but they're all close to the ramblas, mare magnum and the direction on the left, looking the sea when you're at the Colombo's statue. I don't know at all the zone where we're going to stay (Cornellà). Anyway we could take the metro, at least to reach the centrum and we could share a taxi to come back (it should cost about 4-5€ / person).

Per la zona del born ( prop del port vell ) hi han molts bars i espais on pendre alguna cosa. La rambla del born és on estan més concentrats i de totes les mides!

I guess that those wanting to do some sightseeing / tourism will appreciate a centric place. Las Ramblas - Gothic Quarter - Port Vell is an excellent place, and easy enough to get there by metro as well (ie the area around Liceu - Jaume I metro stations)

I've never been to Barcelona so I'd love to do some sightseeing. I'm hoping to catch a look at the cathedral on Thursday as the one direct flight per day from my (ha ha) nearest airport gets in at 2pm. I'm told it's an n900 cathedral - shipped with lots of work still to do.

Hi Kathy :)

My girlfriend Samantha (the author of the logos) will join us the first day on Friday. I think there's a talk about Design she's interested in.

Then I suppose she'll go around a bit and would be happy to do Xmas shopping.

But we'll land on Thursday evening.. so uhm... not sure :)

Well thanks a lot!!! Also is almost christmas and everyone is thinking about presents I think...
We wil arrive on thursday evening, I can send you a pm with my phone number, we can meet after dinner in case something will be planned, but set anyway a meeting point just after the end of the design talk so if someone else want to join we will be able to plan face to face...

ps. if other designers are coming to the meeting I will be more than happy to meet them

Sounds like a plan, Though I suspect you and I will have no trouble finding each other. I think women will be in a minority and I'm easy to spot at less than 5 feet tall.

I started the thread aiming to find local volunteers to organize something on Thursday and Friday evening. If this doesn't work out we can always go shopping. :)

If Maremagnum still exists :) that's probably the best choice in terms of space available and the nice touristic walk to get there. The transport shouldn't be a problem. Barcelona connects almost everything with metro + short or nice walk.

Just remember that metro is available till 0:00 on Thursday (2am on Friday), though I presume that's not going to be a problem.. Otherwise taxi (specially if going in groups) is the best option..

Io crede que io va portar mi photocamera a Barcelona; alora si le promenada a Maremagnum es turisticamente interessante, isto es definitivemente bon pro me. :)

At least for Thursday Maremagnum is better since it's closer to the center (Port Olímpic is exactly in the other side of the city for those staying near Citilab. Barcelona is not like London, but still if people are just arriving and finding themselves... the end of the Rambles is always easier.

Owners of cameras, tablets and nicel looking mobiles: Barcelona is a city very good for your personal safety but the safety of your tech belongings is another story specially in the city center and specially if you show them off.

Mardy, you're from Italy so I believe you know perfectly what I mean.

Define geeky? The only geeky shirt I have is te one from MyTreo.net which is a) the competition and b) XL so it sits on me like a tent. Can I wear a Teddy bear shirt instead!

Actually, it might be good if some of us staying in the 'team hotel' could travel together and arrive in a phalanx. Not sure how I feel about walking into a bar alone in a strange city.

Enjoy guys, I arrive pretty late in the night tomorrow and probably will be tired after a long day at work. So see you guys Friday, and to reiterate Quim's point, please make sure yo always know where your valuables are and if possible put them in a zipped pocket!

Closest metro to Maremagnum is Drassanes which is on L3 (green line) and as you exit the station head towards the big statue (of Columbus) and you will see a walkway/footbridge taking you into the sea where the Maremagnum and the Aquarium is.

From Cornellà Centre to Sants Estació it's a 20 minutes tube ride (L5). Note that on Thursday Metro will close at 0:00.

I won't be coming either since I have to be on the other side of the city at 19:00 ;), but enjoy! And of course see you on Friday.

I'm interested, so if someone could define a time and place it would be great. I don't know how my roaming situation will be in Barcelona, so if this could be decided within the next 12 hours it would be great ;)

I know quite well where Maremagnum is. I only have to grab a new Metro map once I arrive in Barcelona (I've left mine in Italy).

For people who don't know how to get there I suggest them to reach Plaza Catalunya, take a walk for all the "ramblas" untill the Colombo statue. Looking at the sea, on the left you'll see a modern bridge that take you to a modern building, called Maremagnum.

My train will arrive at 18:00 more or less at Barcelona Sans station. I'll take the metro to Cornella to make the checkin at the hotel, I'll leave my baggage, my PC and I'll try to reach you at Maremagnum.

"shirts" ?! Ehm... Quim, it's getting cold even here in Valencia in these days. I've to wear a shirt, a sweater and a jacket to walk around and Barcelona has 2-3C° lower temperature :P

If everybody interested is in the hotel maybe we could just meet at the hotel? And go out on Friday night?

No ice-bar in Maremagnum as far as I know so I still believe shirts apply inside a bar in Barcelona. ;)

And if we meet in Maremagnum note that it's a big building with several places so more precision is needed.
