Conversation emoticon bug
I use Conversation to chat with my girl. I noticed when she uses the desktop Y!, when I send her the emoticon of a zipped mouth, she sees one blowing hearts. This is totally opposite of the effect I wanted.
Is this a bug with Conversation or Y!? And when will we get more emoticon support? |

Re: Conversation emoticon bug
Can you make a Y! account, get Y! Messenger and test it yourself?
If it is infact a bug, report it at http://bugs.maemo.org |
Re: Conversation emoticon bug
Would be interesting to have the real letters used for it here instead of the symbol that is displayed by the applications.

Re: Conversation emoticon bug
The road to using bugzilla instead of forum threads looks long.
These threads should be locked with "File a bug" as an answer. No offence to you christexaport, most of the time I enjoy your posts, but really here, it better be a bug in bugzilla than a forum thread. |

Re: Conversation emoticon bug
boke, is it ok with you if I verify whether its a Maemo bug or a Y! Messenger for Vista bug first? We're not even sure who's problem it is. Patience...
And unfortunately, I don't use desktop systems. I did temporarily because I was without a device, but I have one now, so... |

Re: Conversation emoticon bug
Anyone figured if its the device app or Yahoo itself? I have no way to test. I only talk to my girl on Yahoo, and asking her to do anything technical or to troubleshoot anything means I'm "working" and not paying attention to her, so...

Re: Conversation emoticon bug
Unfortunately I don't know anybody using Yahoo around here...

Re: Conversation emoticon bug
Ask her to disable the smileys in her client and send that smiley again. You'll see what text it actually contains.
My opinion: there should really be a way to disable the smileys in Messaging, since I really hate picture smileys. |
Re: Conversation emoticon bug
Yes, it is very Important for me to disable the Smileys also during writing SMS.
I want to know what I'm sending! The most people have normal SMS clitents and will only see :-) instead of :) |
Re: Conversation emoticon bug

Re: Conversation emoticon bug
I'm with joppu & Helmuth; graphical emoticons are the work of the devil.

Re: Conversation emoticon bug
I'd like an option to get rid of emoticons as well but I'm wondering if I filed a bug it might get closed with it's a feature.

Re: Conversation emoticon bug
this isn't so much an issue on the N900 side, but the receiving side. Evidently, the N900 is sending the wrong commands/characters for the zipped lip emoticon. It shows blowing kisses instead on the official Yahoo client.
