Is the duratec HiTech surface sticky or smooth? I have the cleartec now, but it itself is gathering crazy amount of scratches, so I was thinking of trying HiTec version instead. You can still swipe on the cleartec, not much extra friction/stiction compared to bare. What about hitec?

The HighTec has a very rubbery texture, so adds a fair bit of stiction. I found I was getting used to it though, so it's not too bad.

Can't beat the HD2's screen.

Well that was fun to watch however practical or unpractical it may be. These guys provide a valuable service as Nokia or it manufacturers don't appear to do much testing or QA ;).

It's also hilarious, the commentary, music (in the drop test) and his exagerated reactions.

and scratches must be from my nails, havent used stylus or anything else.

so i strongly suggest a screen protector....

Ive noticed the same thing. Have had the phone only 3 days, kept it in a pouch and have 2 fine scratches already! Possibly from light usage of the stylus! Needless to say im not impressed. My screen protector / rubber casing arrives tomorrow and will be putting it on: I also have a dead pixel in the bottom right so dont want to make it any worse than it is now!

Which pouch do you use/recomend? I hate screen protectors, I'd rather use a pouch

Re: N900 screen scratch test

I just bought a second N900, used. It has several tiny scratches on the screen. I think this is normal and I shouldn't worry about it.

However, I was assured by several respected denizens of this site that my idea that the N900 screen was easily scratched was false. Therefore, perhaps I should freak out about these scratches and demand a replacement unit from Nokia.

Is my new (used) N900 defective?

@geneven:

what i know is, the n900 screen is more prone to scratches than other resistive screens of nokia (i dont know for others) my first scratch on my n900 was the fault of my long nails, the first scratch of my n97 was done by falling from a 10 steps stairs.
