Perhaps the amount of resources to fix bugs is limited? Quality control, final packing and distribution take a LOT of additional time, too.
The bug is not appearing always, only sometimes. So it's more difficult to find.
And perhaps they had other priorities? (More urgent bugs etc.)

Be patient - we will soon get another firmware update, and the device also features over-the-air software updates that will arrive in due time, too.

I see no reason for damnation with my N900 :D

I had this issue with the latest Firmware since day one. Reflashed the phone and have not had the issue again in the last 4 days, it might brake again but it has't yet. Its actually working realy well now.

has there been a fix for this yet? I have this problem and I have the latest firmware. The restart of the widget seems to work for now.

Please see the bug report for the status, and its comments. That's how bugs are normally tracked.
