I added a route and its running perfect. I was able to rdesktop my workstation which was the main goal. Plus i can ssh, telnet and access our web apps. I don't need a laptop anymore - i love this phone! For those who're reading and wondering how to setup the route after installing the iproute tools: Code:
route add -net 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.0.254 ppp0Code:
route del -net 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.0.254 ppp0 |

I think that your routing setup wll depend on the vpn you're connecting to - an easier way that I think should work in all cases (after installing iproute) would be to add the following to your /etc/ppp/peers/peername file: Code:

Re: N900 PPTP VPN with MPPE

If there's anything that isn't clear (that reading this thread or searching on google can't tell you) post again with a more specific question! Be warned though, playing with the kernel can quite easily lead to a reflash if you're not careful. If you do decide to go ahead a precautionary backup would probably be a good idea! Cheers, Jan |
Re: N900 PPTP VPN with MPPE
ty :)
may add dynamic mod to kernel with loadmodules or something like that on this dist. of kinda l*nux :D |

I did all the instructions and I got 2 scripts to create the tunnel. The first script includes the creation of routes and starting pppd. The second script contains the removal routes and pppd. All this works as root. How to start and stop on behalf of the user? |
Re: N900 PPTP VPN with MPPE
A HUGE thank you to Fanoush for making the kernel modules and debs available, and to Big Phat Jan for the very thorough walk through. I've had the N900 for 4 days now, and making this work was simply a 'must-have' feature, or else it would have been returned.
Two things that I had to do differently to get it to work were using backslashes for the 'DOMAIN\\username', and adding 'refuse-eap' in the /etc/ppp/peers/<tunnelname> file. I am still having problems pinging the target pc's name through vpn (fully qualified or not), but can connect fine with the ip address. This is a problem for another day though- I am exhausted! |

Re: N900 PPTP VPN with MPPE
Hmm since it is working somehow, is there any chance to get this via a normal garage app installer? would be nice and I guess it would be also interesting for some other (less linux interested) people.
@adeel as long as you didn't patched the kernel of the N900 you won't have IPv6 support anyway :-/ |
