how do you hide videos and images from the gallery???????

i have a few movies im just putting on my N900 to be transferred to my friends computer. or some things i dont want my GF to see.

simple. rename the file in terminal and put a . in fron of it. or make a folder with a . in front of it and copy your files into it. i did this as root.

LOL if it is anything like the N95 anything that is stored in either "Images" or "Video Clips", so the folders that were there already for images and video (default storage locations), then it will show up in the gallery. If you create a new folder and put them there you should be ok.

Disclaimer: Haven't got the device yet so not tested, just going off what I know from the N95.

i cant do it in windows. if i put a . before the folder name it says please specify a name. it thinks i am renaming the folder to a file. how do i do it in terminal????

ive got it open and when i type 'ls' it shows mydocs apps opt

"ls -l" will also show hidden directories starting with a dot.

(Side note: Your question mark key is broken as it's always printed several times.)

Normally "ls -l" just gives you a "long" listing - to show hidden files and directories you need the "a" flag so "ls -a" or "ls -la" if you also want the long dir listing.

I'm sure it was a typo - but I'm pointing it out for those new to Linux.
