Thanks in advance.

You're in the conversation mod thread? Whichever mod it was you had installed that showed your avatar you're going to need to re-apply after a firmware upgrade. As standard you wont see user avatars in conversations,

Re: Customize N900 Conversations

Hey Guys,

Awesome thread, learning a lot from this and having a blast (by no means a coder) and personalizing my N900 has been fun.

Got a quick question for you guys if you can help me out:

I am currently using SR90's layout found here http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=682
and I want to make one simple modification that I can't seem to figure out. I want to be able to add the date to where the time stamp is. I've looked around the thread and also other mods from the various guys here (awesome work btw) but now I am stuck.

I've tried taking code from here and there, making sure the changes corresponds but I get either a blank conversations window or no changes whatsoever.

Could someone point me in the right direction? I gravitating towards the html file but I'm not exactly sure if other changes need to be done to the css or js files.

I am also having that problem someone else mentioned (forgot who) where the window does not automatically scroll to the most recent message received. Any clues why? Been trying to figure it out for the past 3 hours.

Thanks again in advance, you guys rock.

Re: Customize N900 Conversations

sorry for not reading thread through but would it be possible to add a button or similar that sends stuff to dbus or opens application x?

or are the modifications limited to html elements?

Re: Customize N900 Conversations

Can someone tell me how to get rid of names from sms and chat conversations. Don't need the names since can see the avatars. Thanks.

EDIT: Figured how to do this at least in the sms threads. Not sure about chats. In the /usr/share/rtcom-messaging-ui/html folder there are three js files. In MessagingWidgetsSingleSMS and MessagingWidgetsSMSConversation js files I searched for name_tag.textContent and replaced item.name_str with "". I think you only need to do this in one of the js files but I don't know which. I just did it in both.

Now does anyone know how to do the same for IM chats?

I'm interesting to reverse messages sort order. Like blogs--last is on top. Is this possible?

Re: Customize N900 Conversations

i've got a little problem. i didnt do anything withe these files the only thing i did was to add an icon as the default avatar at 216x216 in my icon set folder and now in the sms conversations i can only see the top left of the avatar. as if it didnt scale it. only problem with the default_avatar thingy. rest work great (changed all the avatars)

any ideas how i can fix it? and will there ever be an app to do these custom conversation through a gui?

May I suggest to put all this information in the Wiki?. It's becoming harder to research on the whole thread.

hi guys, i have a problem, i'm trying to change the niqbal theme N 5 to be able to use in portrait, and i got it, but the issue now is when i'm in landscape, the bubbles doesn't reach the edges like they used to.

see images for further explanation

is there any way to get the bubbles like used to be and keep the portrait version as it is now?

Since you already have another wiki page in your signature, if you could include this one in your signature too that'd be great.

Anyway, I'll contribute as time permits.

Re: Customize N900 Conversations

Hey there!

Is there any possibility of basically keeping the same format but having good portrait support? Instead of having to scroll left and right and yeah it just sucks, so is that possible?

Its probably in here somewhere...but 79 pages 0.o and i cant find it in the wiki :/

There are some themes here supporting portrait but im just so used to the default format...but its hideous in portrait!!

Thanks :)

Re: Customize N900 Conversations

This is a request for a script/app that can easily switch between messaging themes.

Like for example,
Code:

# changetheme.sh theme1
would move the files from folder 'theme1' to the required place in usr/share/...

It could also have other switches like backup, restore, generate_newtheme etc.

This way, we can have the various html/css/js files in folders and we can easily switch between themes as required. Once the script is ready, i don't think it will be difficult to create a UI front end.

Any developers? Please help us n00bs!

Hi

I have edited one of Niqbals themes in order to better support portrait viewing without having to scroll across.

This is not my theme! I just edited Niqbals theme that I have been using for quite awhile now.

Anyway, this allows portrait viewing without the need to scroll horizontally and it doesn't affect landscape viewing.

Enjoy! :)

UPDATE: I have updated the SingleSMS file as I accidentally copied the wrong code into it. Please download the latest version and update the old files.

UPDATE 03/03/2011: I have added files for a full left and right alignment of both avatars and messages, as well as bug fixes for the positioning of the avatar and removal of name tags.

Let me know if you have any problems :)

P.s. This update took alot of work but I want it to be perfect so please let me know of any bugs or possible requests

You need to change your width settings mate.

Here is what you need in your Bubble codes

Code:

width: auto;
max-width: 80%;

That will sort your problem as the width will be dynamic depending on the text message length. But it will never be larger then 80% :)

1. place a picture with 60x60 in /usr/share/rtcom-messaging-ui/html/ named "avatar.png"
2. replace the three files (html, css, js) in the same folder with my modded files

i tried for about one hour to get absolute paths to work but it doesn't seem to work. so i had to place the png in the html-folder.
also the method which is used for fetching the pictures of the contacts doesn't seem to work for the own avatar - and it's not clickable too. ^^

After trying this i could not get it to work.

I placed all 3 files into the html folder and it replaced the same files.

then i resized a picture to 60 x 60 and named it avatar.png and placed it into the same html folder and all i got after rebooting was corrupted conversations with no info in them.

So i put my original html folder back and it replaced my modified html folder.

rebooted my phone and now i have lost all conversations when i click on any in the list they are just blank.

And i cannot send texts.

Any ideas anyone?

edit

Texts do send but don't show in selected contact conversation box just a blank white screen, but do show in conversations list

Have you tried opening and closing then reopening after replacing the files?

Also I dont have this problem :S
