Hey,

I have done a fair bit of work on the wiki. Please have a look here and let me know what you think so far, tell me if there's anything you don't like or if there's something specific you want me to add :)

I WANT feedback :P

Here is a list of what I haven't done yet, but will definitely finish it all off by the weekend at the very latest :P

1. How to create IM files for themes that don't include them
2. Finish the "how to install a theme" section
3. How to edit your themes in order to support portrait viewing
4. Rename themes and if possible, provide a screenshot for each theme

Number 4 is going to be the time consuming one so most likely, that won't be finished till the weekend.

Please lemme know whether you like the progress so far and anything you want me to change :)

it's looking really good, something to add, instead of opening and close a conversation several times to see new mod, each time you replace the html folder just type in terminal

Code:

killall rtcom-messaging-ui
that resets completely the conversation app

You sir, are the MAN!!!
It's looking good now. I have a few suggestions:
a. The themes sections, can it be made into a table with column like
Name || Author || Descriptions || Portrait Mode (yes/no) || Link ||
What do you think?
b. I think instead of making this wiki page a long one, the info about modding themes can be made into a different page that will be linked to from the main one? The main one can have just introduction, info about installing themes, backing up/restoring and links to themes.

@Harick

Hi Harick, I'm using your "Customizable" theme and this morning I found a little problem. When I receive a message that contains a link or an e-mail address the text is unreadable. I'm posting here a screenshot. I think it is necessary to change the text color. Where can I do this? In the CSS or JS file?

Well the wiki formatting isn't the nicest thing to play around with but I am slowly learning how to use it :)

I want the themes to each show a screenshot and sum brief information, so I will mess around with it a little bit and see what I can come up with. The table idea is what I was thinking of as well :P

When im done ill post a lil message asking ya to check it out :)

As for the length of the wiki page. It doesnt really matter due to the ability to create sections with sub-sections :)

The contents at the top allows you to select and view different sections/sub-sections and you can also provide links to indivdual sections and sub-sections :)

For example :

wiki.maemo.org/Conversations ------ this can be a main page

wiki.maemo.org/Conversations#Installation ------- this will link directly to the Installation section of the Conversations wiki.

ps. Those are not real links! Just a demo of what I mean :P

I don't use that theme but I have made my own theme for Conversations. Been tested it and practically usual without issues.

You can change the colour in html and CSS. Make a class value and then assigning it to the history of MessageOther area. Add the class name to the list and remove the defaultfontcolor.

Very easy.Or use my theme :) it's at the bottom of the wiki themes list. MoonLight

Good work buddy! infact, great work!
I still think the mods should be in a seperate page from themes. We should stop spamming this thread and move our discussion to the wiki discussion page.

Great Mods, I was wondering if someone could make the b666m conversation http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...7&postcount=35 portrait friendly ? everything on the left with even gaps (small) ?

Cheers

ok, final update (i hope) since i hate apple (really), and i just did this layout to prove my friend that the n900 can have a similar conversation to his lovely iphone

few things, first, added a small gap variant for all layouts, make them a total of 8

second, added a IM variant of every layout, (in this variant, bubbles images goes inside a folder, so you can have 2 different layouts for the 2 types of conversations)

third, i fixed the link problem

harick,

i dont seem to follow the logic of the install with this download.

it has many folders. i get the different types of layouts, but what do we do with all the bubbles stuff? arent they integrated into the package?

when i did the black BG, it changed it to all black with a highlighted grey font and no bubbles.

i did try to select a folder of color and the psd file for me and sender, then save them to the rt-com/html folder, but it still shows no bubbles. :/

I am also having similar issues with the installer having used Filebox to investige the Folder it seems it just sets up a new folder with the new scripts inside but does not overwrite the exsisting scripts already in the HTML folder. I have therefore asked the developer for is views/suggestions on the other thread

I have edited one of Niqbals themes in order to better support portrait viewing without having to scroll across.

This is not my theme! I just edited Niqbals theme that I have been using for quite awhile now.

Anyway, this allows portrait viewing without the need to scroll horizontally and it doesn't affect landscape viewing.

Enjoy! :)

UPDATE: I have updated the SingleSMS file as I accidentally copied the wrong code into it. Please download the latest version and update the old files.

UPDATE 03/03/2011: I have added files for a full left and right alignment of both avatars and messages, as well as bug fixes for the positioning of the avatar and removal of name tags.

Let me know if you have any problems :)

P.s. This update took alot of work but I want it to be perfect so please let me know of any bugs or possible requests

Re: Customize N900 Conversations

yeah.... for the bubbles theme ala iphone inspired theme, scrolling is very problematic... kinetic scrolling is out, even draggin with the finger sometimes is a bit stuck and laggy

Re: Customize N900 Conversations

no, you put .png of Self and Other in IM folder this is how bubbles will work on conversations but on sms its the old way.

TMavica 2011-03-10 09:10

Re: Customize N900 Conversations

I already have 3 files- messgingwidgetchatconversations.css, html, js, and 18 pngs in rtcom-messaging-ui/IM/ already

what i missing??

Changegames 2011-03-10 09:13

Re: Customize N900 Conversations

the only thing you put on IM folder is the bubble you want to use on conversations, everything else goes to html folder just like before.

IM folder is supposed to be inside html folder:D
