ahhaha I know I almost gave up on Nokia and go for Iphone instead because it has better OS stability. But then they announced the N97, I kinda leaning toward it a little but after I did my researched, I found 70% of N97 owners that I've read about are not satisfy with the N97 due to some major hardware failure and bugs. So I hold my money and waited for N97-mini but then N900 was announced lol. For that moment after reading the spec and OS, I became obsessed and In loved with N900.

Never going to look back on N97mini agan :D

It will replace my Laptop and desktop while i'm on a trip or at work

Not sure but the N97 seemed like a more complete and mature device the result of years of development and experience.

The question is would the -Linux based- N900 be improved/treated similarly by Nokia?

No, that doesn't match what I tried to say. I used Windows Mobile and Windows Vista because they accurately describe what I feel is the strength and functionality ratio.

Windows 7 succeeds ME, Maemo doesn't succeed Symbian.
Windows Mobile is better than Vista at phone centric tasks.
Symbian is better than Maemo at phone centric tasks.

At this exact place in time.

At most other tasks, Maemo kicks Symbian ***. Like Vista does with Windows Mobile.

Comparing ME and 7 is not relevant, they do much the same, one is just buggier than the other. I don't think Symbian and Maemo are much alike.

only time will tell. But if you like the N97 then dont go for it. Go for MINI version instead. It smoother and work better than N97. If you are going for the N97 then I can guaranteed you that you will bleed lol. you have 70% chance of bleeding and end up smashing it with a hammer. If you're a heavy user then N97 is not for you


N900 is already better than N97 by far. The only thing it lacked is MMS, and portrait mode, FM. The rest are the trump. Those extra function will be added in the next few big firmware upgrade

Well: I kindda like the N97 it aint that bad with V2.0. I gotta agree though that for a phone with this price it should have been way better. But definatly no comparing to the N900 which I received yesterday and loving it.
And I will always stay with Nokia, no matter what. I once had an X1 experia, but sucked in compartison to N97

I had N97, was a total failure.
N900 beats it by miles.

You can't really do a direct compare as they both running different platforms.
This is similar to comparing Windows vs Linux

Each have advantages + disadvantages.

Simply put....If you want a better "phone", get the N97 mini. If you want..first, a computer(ish) device and THEN a phone, get the N900. End of story. Answer that for yourself. Which ever one you decide is best for you, get it and don't look back. You can always come back next year and get the N950, N1000 or whatever it might be. Heck, looking at Nokia's stock price they might scrap this after a year. If you don't have the extra cash to "play" with a device, be safe and go with the N97mini. I have both.

That's not really accurate. The problem is that basic phone features like sorting the call list exists on all and every phone on the market, but is not yet implemented on Maemo, if I understand correctly. And PIM, calendar and all that is 1st generation software, as the N810 didn't have it. Some bugs are being hammered out, but it's doubtful there will be lots of features added at this point. So these are areas where Maemo 6 will probably be way, way better than Maemo 5.

Don't compare the coolest "open/free/do what you want/please hack me" device to M$'s new publicity stunt... no matter how better it is than Vista..

It is not like night and day. It is like sunrise and sunset. N900 is sunrise and N97 is sunset. We can arge if in a certain point there is more light in one picture or the other. But Maemo is rissing whyle S60 is fading away.
Nobody knows how long it will take. Maybe N900 is already winning. Maybe S80 (if it ever exists) will give S60 a couple of new years. I don't know. But the trend is there.
