It is about how many people are having this issue.

If we ignore the few people who are open that some form of physical accident has happened.

That is still 52 people from this very small community who are not getting a reasonable service from Nokia

I'm definitely not saying "ignore them" like you seem to be implying. Remember, I had this issue happen to me long before most of you since it happened on my N900 prototype, so believe me, I know the pain.

Nods I did not mean to imply ignoring them. All I am saying is that whwn it comes to fighting Nokia as to this being a flaw these that number dosent help. Once we have proven the weakness of the joint we will also be helping them.

They need help and support. But most realize that it is not their cases that will win the fight.

However... the total number of respondents is high enough to closely approximate the overall picture. And this thread has certainly received enough attention to draw in a good cross-spectrum. You should see the pingbacks my blog is getting.

I just got my n900. Manufactured in Korea, date = 51/2009. I can say that the microUSB connector is recessed inside, and it looks like a very nice entry point for foreign object debris. The insertion and extraction force required to plug the phone in is a bit high, and I can see the reasoning for taking the tabs on the top off.

To be honest with you ATM I am more angry with Nokia and MarkS then ever.

The whole fake "Do not worry we will look after these customers" then complete bull$%it update to the care centers telling them to follow the same guidelines as before.

They have decided that we customers are lying. They have no respect for us. And I am really pissed off.

The only reason I have not replied to MarkS's comment on engadget is because in my current mood I know I would be unprofessional.

I am waiting until I have the self control to make my point in a way that comes across in a powerful way.

BUT

Nokia needs to be called out on this in public. Loud and effectively.

Hang on though HP. I am still betting it's not over yet.

I am fully expecting to have to take Nokia Retail to small claims court over this. But doing that is going to require me compiling evidence that this is not my fault.

But I am not prepared to throw away my money on this.

This is my 5th N series device in 6 years N73 N95 N810 N85 N900

If this requires me to fight much more it will be my last.

EDIT: And as I hinted, it is not the flaw that bothers me. It is the reaction to engadget. posting something to prevent the sh*t storm. But carry on as usual. This is not just lack of customer service it is an outright offence and insult to their customers.

so this microusb problem is caused by physical contact of the device and a hard surface?
