Re: [Maemo 5] Dataplan Monitor - Ideas for Enhancements: Define Max Value and Automatic Resets
The Dataplan Monitor was working fine for me (great App!), but since I have updated my phones firmware (to version 10.2010.06-14) the monitor is no longer counting. It just stays at zero, even though I am sure I am transferring data :-)
I tried to reset the data counter and un/re-install the App, but no luck! Anyone got any ideas what I could do to resolve/investigate this? |
Re: [Maemo 5] Dataplan Monitor - Ideas for Enhancements: Define Max Value and Automatic Resets
Great widget but I must say that i had some performance problems with my desktop(switching applications, closing them, all menu animations, touch detection) and after closing this widget and pedometer widget my performance went back to normal.
I DO NOT KNOW if it was just my current setup or some weird glitch but i just wanted to say that keep on eye how you desktop behaves. There could be some memory leak on hildon how it handles widgets. I do not have adequate skills to debug this. Also I do not know how exactly reproduce this :| Maybe after 2-3 days uptime in certain conditions you start to notice that your desktop is not anymore so responsive. Just something to keep on eye :) But great work here! |
Re: [Maemo 5] Dataplan Monitor - Ideas for Enhancements: Define Max Value and Automatic Resets
I installed Dataplan Monitor and I noticed that even if I am doing nothing the counter is slowly increasing with time.
I would like to ask if there is a way in maemo (eventually commands from xterm) in order to check which application/process in responsible for the data transfer. Thank you in advance |

Re: [Maemo 5] Dataplan Monitor - Ideas for Enhancements: Define Max Value and Automatic Resets
I don't know if the author is reading this topic. Anyway I would like to ask him if would it be possible to have in the widget the possibility to make a partial reset of the counter month by month without resetting the main counter in the telephone. So that I could see both the total traffic with time and the month traffic.
I mean I would like 2 counters. I have no idea if it would be an easy implementation or not of this FUNDAMENTAL APPLICATION that Datplan monitor is. I don't know if I was able to explain correctly... |

Whilst I agree with the potential enhancements to the monitor, I think that there is a lot of antagonism being portayed to both the OP and the Dev who designed this app. By the same token, some of the retorts from other members is perhaps a little harsh and unjustified. Just remember, regardlesss of whether you got laid last night or not, that language is a powerful tool and can be very easily miscontrued in forums. Think carefully before you post anything vaguely inflammatory |
Re: [Maemo 5] Dataplan Monitor - Ideas for Enhancements: Define Max Value and Automatic Resets

Re: [Maemo 5] Dataplan Monitor - Ideas for Enhancements: Define Max Value and Automatic Resets
Hello I re-flash mine today and I can confirm not working on PR 1.2 is possible install it but never count.
Also will be really nice to have an auto reset based in the date example reset count every 7th day of the month will be nice, to have control of the usage per month compare with the invoice from the Service Provider. Thanks |

Re: [Maemo 5] Dataplan Monitor - Ideas for Enhancements: Define Max Value and Automatic Resets
Version 0.6-3 should be in extras-devel shortly. This version works properly with PR1.2 and allows the user to either toggle between home and roaming totals or display the combined total.
Also, PR1.2 has added some notification limits for both home and roaming data counters - does this duplicate some of the functionality this thread was created for? |

Count was > 2.1 Gig? That equals 2^31 and I thing bit 32 is the "-" you see right now ;) btw: since PR1.2 nothing happens anymore. Because they devided the online-counting i think. would be very glad if that could be fixed soon. Meanwhile: Anybody got a working script for the desktop-execution-widget to cover the lack? |
Re: [Maemo 5] Dataplan Monitor - Ideas for Enhancements: Define Max Value and Automatic Resets
PR1.2 problem is fixed in extras-devel version (I'll put it in extras-testing soon). It also might fix the data overflow problem when over 2 GB transfered.
