Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
New versions released!
EJRE 6.0 Update34, EJRE 7.0 update 6 and for the first time JDK 7.0 update 6 Arm Version (only ARMv7 headful). JDK is downloadable directly like windows' JDK versions, EJRE as usually needs to compile "Java SE Embedded Download Survey" or someone should find out direct links to download pages |

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
Is that so that now JRE runs out of the box in N900!
No need for emulation and twisted workarounds & such???!!!! Does browser integration also happen automatially during installation?? |
Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!

But Oracle's EJRE must be manually installed (no deb available) Quote:

Java plugin for browser is present, but unfortunately MicroB (Maemo's browser) doesn't support the correct interface. So no Java applets on MicroB. But on Firefox and probably other browsers they work if you install the plugin in the correct folder on browser installation path. |
Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
JDK working link
Working on arduino and N900! wooo, wish me luck excitement = dead. Haha, i have to install ant, but it depends on icetea6, if my understanding is correct, the official jdk is better than icedtea, so how could i work around this requirement? also, apache site appears to be down (at least it is for me) so I'm not having any luck there |
Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
New versions released
EJRE 7.0 update 10 and EJRE update 38 here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...ase/index.html JDK 7.0 update 10 here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...s-1880260.html They are SoftFP only (Maemo is SoftFP), the promised HardFP versions (i.e. for MeeGo) aren't available yet. |

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
Well. I would guess that you can use some more java based websites. I am trying to get my online banking to work but I have tried several different times and got no result. Could just be the website for me though. It is know to be tempermental. :)

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
If I am using fennec and I have run the above commands etc etc what exactly should I put in the java.java_plugin_library_name? I have tried just the file name and a path to where the file is. But still have no luck. Is there a way to test to see if it IS working and it is just that particular website (www.danskepankki.fi) login I am trying to use just won't work

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
Since my last december post, more versions have been released by Oracle even if I have not updated the thread.
I.e Update 21 released on April and Update 25 (only JDK no EJRE released) released on July All versions always only softFP. Now another release has been published by Oracle. EJRE 7.0 update 40 here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...ase/index.html JDK 7.0 update 40 here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...s-1880260.html From these versions HardFP is officially and finally supported. Two versions for every packages (one SoftFP, one HardFP), apart ARMv5 version which is only SoftFP (no fpu under ARMv5). To download EJRE you must be registred (free registration) to Oracle WebSite, JDK instead not requires registration. Maemo/Debian are SoftFP, MeeGo/Nemo/Ubuntu are HardFP. |
Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
Thanks Fabry for the links, for all which haven't registration in Oracle, especially for ejre:

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
Hi
Thre thread is quite long and very heplfull. I manage to run jad in microemulator as well as install ejre on my N900. But I'm struggling w/ java plugin to firefox. Should 'libnpjp2.so' work? I'm asking cause latest java1.7.0_40 package doesn't inlude it. But previous one, which contains, are not working w/ firefox. At least oracle java verify page is not able to detect its version. Thanks in advance for any hint. |

Code:
sudo gainrootCode:
java -version-sh: java: not found The files all have "-rwxr-xr-x" for their permissions. Code:
~ $ ls -al /home/opt/java/ejre1.7.0_45/binIn /usr/bin see permission for java and keytool rwxrwxrwx. |

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...d-1595957.html You will then be asked to select which version of the ARM platform you will be using Java on and you should select the "ARMv7 Linux - Headful" variant of the ARM platform. At the time of writing this article, that would be "ejre-7u4-fcs-b20-linux-arm-vfp-client_headful-12_apr_2012.tar.gz". If anyone knows of a newer and better working version in browsers, can put on some here. |
Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
new update for java se embedded 8 and i tested with my n900 cssu stable and it work but last thing while installing is to use this ln -s /opt/java/ejre1.8.0/linux_arm_vfp_sflt/jre/bin/* /usr/bin/ Not ln -s /opt/java/ejre1.7.0_45/bin/* /usr/bin/
edit: better to stay version 7 Update 51 because some of the my apps doesn't work with 1.8.0 and work with 1.7.51 |
Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
Just that these versions do not have the plugin libnpjp2 and do not work in browsers.

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!
If someone tried to compile the icedtea-6-plugin for java 6 https://packages.debian.org/pl/squee...lugin/download
or icedtea-7-plugin for java 7 https://packages.debian.org/search?k...edtea-7-plugin https://packages.debian.org/pl/wheez...lugin/download and you can use them to run Java in browsers? |
