Here is the site I'm using: http://www.schubart.net/rc/

Ok tried this with firefox/chromium/microb.

Microb - I see the java process fire up however the actual applet never appears.
Firefox - Applet appears but is corrupt.
Chromium - Works perfectly.

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!

Chromium should auto-detect the java lib if you've done everything right and run most java web applets.

anismistry 2011-05-01 11:24

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!

i have done as instructed but chromium shows a red block where an applet should be and says the frame content is blocked due to security reason:(

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!

http://www.schubart.net/rc/, this is working for me in chromium but when i want to see stock charts on etrade.com.au which is a Java applet, it does not show. Is it because in chromium the site itself shows a insecure site with https crossed out in the URL.
there is some certificate problem with the website as chromium shows but this website presents no problem on my laptop

So whats the situation in using Micro Emulator to run Java apps on the N900?

Is it any good? Or did this project die like many others? ;-)

What you are searching for is a Java Browser plugin, which is not available. With icedtea6 Java Standalone apps can be executed.

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!

With Iced Tea 6, can those little Java games (.jar) that I had on my N95 be run on the N900?

Java works on Chromium if you follow this instructions:

If that are J2ME apps the answer is no, but there is a package microemulator in Extras testing for that. Don't forget to vote, if it helps you.

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!

Since mid-end of April is available a new version of Oracle's EJRE (1.6.0 Update 25) with many bug fixes.

I don't know a link for direct download so only registered users (free registration) of Oracle's site can download it

EDIT:
A my friend has found out a direct link (without registration)
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...ad-355127.html

For N900 please download ejre-1_6_0_25-fcs-b06-linux-arm-vfp-eabi-headful-14_apr_2011.tar.gz

Java Applets work also, with Oracle's EJRE, on FireFox (Fennec) 5.0 and 6.0 Beta.
FF 4.0.1 not tried but I suppose it works also

PS
Plugins on FireFox are disabled as default, you must enable them changing plugin.disable option to false (on about:config)

Kinda - it is painfully slow on my n900, maybe because I asked it to synchronize my bookmarks, but it shouldn't be, and the site that I linked earlier, in my machine, shows a corrupt applet.

I'm yet to see a problem with java on Chromium |:/

ln –s /opt/ejre1.6.0_21/lib/arm/libnpjp2.so /home/user/.mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so

Only one of them is needed because /home/user/.mozilla/plugins is a symbolic link to /usr/lib/browser/plugins

So please use only
ln –s /opt/ejre1.6.0_25/lib/arm/libnpjp2.so /home/user/.mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so

Yes, probably. Either that or using xterm.

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!

please post a video tutorial

the tutorial says to type java in xterm after copying the extracted folder to home/opt/java.
when i do that it tells me not found.

2. is it normal that i dont have the local/bin directory in /usr?

3.i changed the profile file just like in the tutorial. with an editor (windows).
after that, when i type root or sudo gainroot in xterm i get an error?

can someone give me the files ready so i just need to copy them?

thx in advance

Re 2 - create a new directory. Have a look about as to how to do this in Linux OR use a file explorer, like Filebox.

Re 1 - Make a directory called "java" in /home/opt then copy compressed file to /home/opt/java and de-compress it there; de-compressing in a FAT file system (like MyDocs) removes all the necessary Linux flags so don't de-compress until it's in the Linux partition.

Re 3 - have you got rootsh installed? I "think" the version in devel is better than the one in extras.

N900L 2011-08-18 01:48

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!

how do i de-compress it?
i extracted the tar.gz archive with winrar in windows and copied the extracted folder with filebox to /home/opt/java.
thats how i did it.

can you upload it decompressed?

2. when i type root in xterminal then java
it tells me premission denied.
ane with sudo gainroot or without going root it tells me: sh java not found.

maybe this helps you to figure out the mistake ive done.

thx for your help.

Thanks, your link is the correct link to Java 6.0 update 27 (the last version for now) direct download page.

Now it is missing only the direct link for Java 7.0

Edit:
I haven't found out the link to download page, but I have found with Google on internet a link to Java 7.0 ARMv5's version (headless).

Changing the file name on this link, I have found out the direct links for ARMv6/7 Headless and ARMv7 Headful versions

EJRE 7.0 Headless: http://download.oracle.com/otn-pub/j...un_2011.tar.gz
EJRE 7.0 Headful: http://download.oracle.com/otn-pub/j...un_2011.tar.gz

sudo gainroot

/home/user #

tar -zxvf /media/mmc1/ejre-1_6_0_27-fcs-b07-linux-arm-vfp-eabi-headful-18_jul_2011.tar.gz

after extraction or installation, this still does nothing for web sites that requires java.

that's because you need to put the neccessary files to their proper places.

TonyUkuk install Microemulator and then try to open JAD files with it. You could post your findings in this thread.

Furthermore ejre 1.7.0 now supports JVM's Server Mode with much better performance if activated.

This software is an assembler/disassembler, so it is not so useful if you want to run Android software under Java SE (and so under N900 with Maemo).

There is a project which is aimed to do that you wish: http://www.icedrobot.org/
But I think it is too far from completation yet
