When the phone rings maybe the phone should stay locked until the proximity sensor detects it's "out of your pocket"? |

Re: does anyone use the n900 as a phone
I really dont intend to use the N900 as a phone. IMHO its an internet tablet with a phone function. I already have an E72 which would be handling all my phone needs.

Re: does anyone use the n900 as a phone
Yeah its currently my phone. I have a tendency to collect phones and never end up selling them off. I have about 5 old phones sitting around. Maybe they can enable something like they had in the nokia n95. When I would get a call I had the option of having the name or whatever was in the nickname field being read aloud during the ring. This way you know who it is without taking the phone out and maybe a shake to answer?
This would make it a bit easier for those having problems "getting it/pulling out" in time. |
Re: does anyone use the n900 as a phone
dude get a blue tooth headset- but no its not my main phone at all, its my little browser computer with phone functionality. my iphone is my main phone number.

Re: does anyone use the n900 as a phone
Just make sure that the last piece you're pulling out of your pocket is the proximity sensor. So if you wear tight jeans, put the phone into the pocket with the earpiece and USB port down.
Or get a pouch for the N900. :) |

Re: does anyone use the n900 as a phone
Its a great device i have one wish for a feature/setting tough.
I want a option to set so a incoming call or alarm does not activate the display, before i use the slider on the side or fully opens the keyboard. I have seen so many great inventions here that i cant emagine that this would be to much of a challenge for some of the brilliant coders in here :) |

I think the Phone app has Many issues! |
Re: does anyone use the n900 as a phone
Its is my main (and only) phone.
It is also my main (and only) pocket computer / voip device. |
Re: does anyone use the n900 as a phone
Its actually a really good phone, VOIP or regular cellular. Both work great for me, I've been very suprised with the skype call quality on the device too!
My only complaint currently is that there are no persistent icons for voicemail or sms messages so its easy to forget about them. |

Re: does anyone use the n900 as a phone
The n900 functions as my sole phone, not even a house phone for backup, and after one week, i have to say Im incredibly impressed bhy this device. Amazing piece of hardware, and the software is catching up nicely. Want MMS and more flexibility with sound/notification settings, but estatic and fell its well worth the price. Using Tmobile in the greater NYC area.

Re: does anyone use the n900 as a phone
I use it as a phone without any problems. Most of the time, I use it with a bluetooth headset. It's my first smart phone, so maybe I don't have the same expectations or habits to unlearn as other people. Really, the N900 is the nicest phone I have ever used.

Re: does anyone use the n900 as a phone
The N900 (and its' mobile number) is the one and only phone I use. I don't have a landline. The N900 does the phone job beautifully.

Re: does anyone use the n900 as a phone
I use it as my main phone. In fact I sold all my old ones to help pay for this. So far it does a great job. Really does everything I need phone wise. It might be even better when it actually gets some wear and tear and then I can stop worrying about it getting scratched etc.

I would recommend getting one of those cheap rubberised cases off eBay. Yes it adds some bulk but between that, a lanyard and a Clarivue I am not that worried anymore. |

I have a few those rubberised hard cases of different colors (also for my 5800XM), change it once a while to have a new look ;) or you can get the black one if you just want protection |
