Re: QtIrreco for N900
I still have lirc server problem. the configure files are still misusing from /etc/lirc/
Any suggestion? |
Re: QtIrreco for N900
Okay uploaded new package. Changes:
* Files goes to /opt/qtirreco, optified and moved to user/utilities section. * You can go back after selected remote in download remote dialog if you selected the wrong one by closing add buttons dialog. * Problem with device file to have different name than remote command name fixed. Prolly fixes many remotes to work. * Put some extra functions in qtirreco class to fix old user remotes paths and sets lircpaths to config. Those will be taken off later, when users probably have fixed configs. * Cleared database due to invalid remote configs, bug fixed. * Remote with background has some problems, changes background to default. Will be fixed later. * Some issues when having multiple different device buttons, booting app works sometimes. Please send feedback when tried new package. Also if you have not working lirc device files under /opt/qtirreco/Device try downloading them again after deleting them manually with command rm /opt/qtirreco/Devices/<filename> or in application: Edit remote-> New button-> Add -> Delete remote. |
Re: QtIrreco for N900
I used this after checking out some youtube videos and remembering the good old days of using my Palm to control my TV(A Westinghouse 32" HDTV). I'm a new n900 owner and I've got to say I'm impressed with the overall quality of the apps and this is no exception. This app is flexible and simple. I was able to turn the channel and volume up or down. My only request thus far would be the sizing of the buttons. I may have overlooked the function, but most setups would require more buttons than I can fit on the screen( or switch remotes a whole lot). That would be a great option. I will attempt to upload(or look up) the LIRC remote of a Pioneer car stereo head and see how that turns out as well. Streaming PyPianobar through stereo Bluetooth(on my car's stereo) and being able to control my stereo from one device would be a dream.

Re: QtIrreco for N900
thanks! 0.2.3-1 fixes the crashes that i'd been seeing.
one question though - when you download a new remote, it lets you "select buttons for remote". i don't really want to select buttons! i just want the buttons that are on the manufacturer's remote, no more, no less. |

Re: QtIrreco for N900
Works perfectly with my Samsung LE-40M86BD even from a 3-4m distance :) (Using Samsung -> Dynaflat_TV)
The funny part comes now, I even got a "sleep" button with QtIrreco. This button doesn't exists on the original remote but works fine with the TV anyway. My Humax HD1000 receiver with the remote RS-636 doesn't works yet. |

Re: QtIrreco for N900
This seems to work great with my Panasonic stereo set, I can control it from a fairly wide angle and long range. However, with my Sony TV I have problems controlling it even from just 1 meter away, the signal just doesn't seem to get recognized reliably enough to be any use of. Is it possible there's something slightly wrong in the remote file that makes it work like this, or do some devices just require stronger/slightly different signal?
Also, I'd love it if it was possible to bind the buttons on keypad, any chance you'll implement that? |
Re: QtIrreco for N900
strangely my "/home/user/MyDocs/qtirreco/" directory is gone but the remotes I saved are still accessible from qtirreco program.
I wanted to add a new remote-file i recorded manually, how can I add it so I can find it in qtirreco? |
Re: QtIrreco for N900
The new version is stored at /home/opt/qtirreco

Re: QtIrreco for N900
Can this app perform macros so all devices can be powered up or down?

2. Start qtirreco from shortcut 3. "New Remote" from title bar, insert random name and create remote 4. "Edit Remote" from title bar 5. "New Button" from title bar 6. Fill in name, pick icon (from the "Change" button), then choose "Add" from right side 7. Pick download remote, browse to and pick your remote of choice (note that the name is the name of the remote, not the device it controls) 8. You should be back in the menu opened by "Add"-button, choose the remote you downloaded and pick the action you want the button to perform 9. When you're back in the new button dialog, press Ok 10. Repeat steps 5-9 as necessary, move buttons by dragging, edit/delete by pressing 11. "Save Remote" from title bar Now the buttons should perform the function you want them to. |

One feature I'm missing in most universal remote applications is support for http requests (like HTTP GET). I have a home server running some home automation software that can be controlled remotely by http requests and it would be so cool to be able to control my lights and other things with my N900. Thanks for a great app, slarti |
Re: QtIrreco for N900
I have two more ideas I think would truly help people out as well. Again, I'm basing this idea off of this old freeware Remote app from my Palm Centro.
1)Does the IR sensor on the N900(or N800/810) accept IR inputs codes? We could probably circumvent a lot of the uploading and download by allowing each person to input their personal remote they have available. With the app on the Centro I literally would just put the phone up to my remote and then press any key, then define what the title of the input was. It was nice because it allowed you to make these crazy hybrid remotes. So I would be able to power up my Set-top Comcast box and then power my TV up. I could pull up the guide and switch to auxillary inputs all from the same remote. Obviously if you've seen the Centro, you'd know it's much, much smaller and less powerful than the N900. I do realize that this idea may deal more with the backend, which means this is probably posted in the wrong place. 2)Is there a way we could possibly program this app to control Boxee? I'm using BlueMaemo for that right now(mostly because my HTCP doesn't have an IR sensor, but also because I like the Logitech Media Pro Board too much *Buy one, they're great*). I just don't have any idea exactly how the inputs of a bluetooth remote vary from IR codes. I'll study up and see what I can input to possible move the progress. I'm just at work brainstorming some things, but I unfortunately cannot get too far in depth. I really need to learn how to program so I can do some of this stuff myself. Any good sites or books you'd recommend? Quote:

Re: QtIrreco for N900
Worked fine for me but now it stopped working with no reason, it seems that the IR LED of the N900 doesn't works sometimes. Anyone got a idea how to enable it again?
|
Re: QtIrreco for N900
I have that problem from the beginning.. I dont get the IR LED working at all.. With another N900 works fine. I have tried to reinstall qtirreco but that didnt help.. What should I try next?
Is there some specific file that I could copy from working phone to faulty one?? File that controls/configures IR LED? |

So... Ideas?? |

Then check the file under /opt/qtirreco/Remotes/<remotename.conf> whats the device in line: command: <device> <command> Then check if that device actually is the same under /opt/qtirreco/Devices/<device>. There check the line after begin remote. name <device> Then under /etc/lircd.conf you should have proper device path included. If those devices in lines match and lirc runs the IR signal should be sent. Some codes doesn't work but still the signal is emitted. |

Problem where at lircd.conf file. It didnt have device path for remote. It would be good idea to make documentation from these questions and answers. FAQ file etc... Makes some work but I'm sure it will pay of in future. |
