I just tried and found that it works and is very simple to do.

Firefox mobile lists /usr/lib/browser/plugins/libflashplayer.so as the location of its flash player, but also has a copy located in /home/user/.mozilla/plugins. The current build of firefox mobile(4.0b1) has plugins disabled so I cannot test these changes.

Simple Install Guide:
1. Obtain file from TI
2. On a linux pc run the file(you will need to enable exec rights on the file)
3. Follow the installer and then go to the path specified in the installer and grab the libflashplayer.so
4. Copy libflashplayer.so to somewhere on your n900(via ssh or via mass storage mode)
5. sudo gainroot
mv /usr/lib/browser/plugins/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/browser/plugins/libflashplayer.so.bak
if copied to mass storage: cd /home/user/MyDocs/
cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/browser/plugins/libflashplayer.so
6. start the browser and it should all work

Yeah, the hardest part would be to actually 'obtain file from TI'.....it sounds so easy.....oh well, no flash 10.1 for the N900 but I don`t care....

Nope. The only benefit of having Flash 10 (via that TI plugin right now) is to use Flash 10 specific features. There is no other optimization provided.

Actually it seems to have worse performance then the original, and some weird red box on the top left on youtube.

Can anyone confirm this?

TI is Texas Instruments. They are well known for their graphing calculators, but more importantly they also provide the hardware for some mobile devices out there. The flash plugin 10 is for people working with the hardware (but you can request it from their website and try to get it) and they may send you a copy after agreeing not to re-distribute it.

Flash 10 won't be distributed on this website (legally at least).

iPlayer works for me, I'm watching Never Mind The Buzzcocks right now, if you click the icon to play in a pop out window it plays quite smoothly. And get_iplayer still works for downloading videos if you don't want to use flash, but you'll need to tell it to download in "flashlow" mode if you want to video to play smoothly without overclocking.

Re: Adobe Flash Player 10: When will the update arrive? Is it coming at all?

red line above facebook games. like some kind of weird dev watermark i'm guessing? anyway games like cityville froze at 50% before. now with 10.1 they'll load to completion. however any click on it will refresh and start it loading over. shame. :(

Hi

I recently received the file from TI, however i dont know if im what im doing is correct, I followed this Simple Install Guide:
5. sudo gainroot
mv /usr/lib/browser/plugins/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/browser/plugins/libflashplayer.so.bak
if copied to mass storage: cd /home/user/MyDocs/
cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/browser/plugins/libflashplayer.so
6. start the browser and it should all work

the only step i didnt do is step 2.

however before i was able to watch iplayer for example but now its slow.

regards

Re: Adobe Flash Player 10: When will the update arrive? Is it coming at all?

Apparently performance is less than stellar. As noted before, the version 10.1 implies nothing of what actual acceleration is (not) used, i.e. 10.1 *can* be faster in *certain* use-cases on *some* implementations but does not *guarantee* better performance in general.

bro, can you try to access www.wix.com.
however first of all do verify the flash version that you are running by access to this URL http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html

Guys the flash 10 from TI is leaked now. You can find it just search at google using key "download maemo libflashplayer.so from ti" it should be available on second page search.

Anyway based on my testing, the flash 10 only can be utilized via microB not from Mozilla Firefox. Not sure why firefox not managed to detect the plugin.

From microB, all the flash content will have red line on the top. Plus for those website that running fully flash 10, it will keep reloading the page once we touch to any link or tab in flash, same goes to www.flashearth.com.

The best right is using the tweak flash, the flash plugin from TI, its TOTALY not ready to be utilized even though its NOT Hardware accelerated by right it shouldn't have the bug on reloading or looping once you click on any tab or link.

That's been answered in the past... and unfortunately the answer is no.

Opera doesn't support plugins outside of their javascript engine.

For Firefox, need to enable manual in order to enable the flash.
Under URL key in about:config, search plugin.make sure the below 2 option is set to FALSE.

i) plugin.default_plugin_disabled
ii) plugin.disable

Using flash 10 from TI with Firefox cause the browse to be automatically closed once you click to any tab or link in web that running flash 10 such www.wix.com and same scenario goes to www.flashearth.com.

The best is using Firefox with the tweakflash.

Seriously... STOP WHINING! :)

Flash 10 from TI isn't a step up compared to using a tweaked Flash 9.4.

99% of people here just need "Flash 10 functionality" to see YouTube links on FaceBook anyway, and that works fine with the tweaked Flash 9.4...

End of Story... ;)

Why do you come to this thread, knowing that's pretty much what you'll see? I laugh EVERY time I see one of these 'stop whining' comments on a thread that clearly will contain such demands for updates, upgrades and software that isn't available. :) I am, by no means, telling you to stop saying it--I get great entertainment from the back-and-forthing but it still boggles me. :)

If it weren't for calling out for others to take action in ways fantastically unlikely ever to occur, these forums would be a ghost town.

BRO,

Sorry Forgot to add. Before you proceed with the below step. under Firefox add ons, you need to DISABLE THE "YOUTUBE ENABLER".

For Firefox, need to enable manual in order to enable the flash.
Under URL key in about:config, search plugin.make sure the below 2 option is set to FALSE.

i) plugin.default_plugin_disabled
ii) plugin.disable

*** BOTH plugin.disable and plugin.default_plugin_disabled will become BOLD ONCE ITS BEEN SET TO FALSE.

Hey, you can actually get YouTube videos in higher resolutions (Even 720p, albeit very slow and glitchy) all you need to do is use the "Tweak Flash Plugin" and set it to "Flash 10.1 Linux Desktop" and then use "Hide User Agent" and set it to "Mozilla Firefox" then reboot phone and go to www.youtube.com (not m.youtube.com) and you can choose any resolution! :D (I was very much enjoying high resolution YouTube until I smashed my screen yesterday :( )
