N900:How to connect internet using proxy

Guyz,

1.I connected to my WLAN, but it has proxy authorization am not able to browse,is there is any option to specify proxy authorization for WLAN.

2.How to change/view my access point list,i received 4 accesspoint from my cellular provider,one that is used for internet and its working fine.it is not connected due to some network issue,it is automatically pointing to other network,is there is any alternative to select my accesspoint from the list.

Settings -> Connections (Choose your access-point) -> Edit -> Next/Next -> Advanced -> Proxies (Specify proxy)

Settings -> Connections -> Connect Automatically (Choose Always Ask)

Re: N900:How to connect internet using proxy

All this would have been nice if it actually worked with anything apart from MicroB. IM won't connect, nor would Mauku or even App Manager.

Is there a workaround?

Please guys, need your assistance here.

IM, VoIP and other applications are not working or connected in the Internet. Browser is fine, but it would be grateful if all the apps are connected too!.

Most apps just aren't able to use a typical http proxy to connect, even on a desktop computer and won't work.

Thanks for getting back with me.

Do you think is there any way in mind? I mean, any option to be able to use apps using proxy? any recommended program to help with it?

I must say beforehand that I have no working proxy to test the following myself, but normally the systemwise http proxy work this way. So please tell me the result.

In /etc/profile add the following:

Code:

http_proxy="http://username:password@addressofproxy"
I dont know if you need to restart.
