The attached images provide no information about noise. What is apparent is that the exposure aprameters are different, the N73 flash fired stronger judging from the shadows. The N900 image is somewhat underexposed (tells nothing about the sensor) and has a slight blue haze as a result of the unfortunate backplate (again, tells nothing about the sensor).

If you want to show us the ridiculousness of N900 noise, take pictures under identical conditions, flash OFF, same ISO and then post the (unmodified) results here.

The ppl complaining about the image quality should check their settings. N900 camera's default is set to widescreen 3.5 mpx and by switching to normal 5mpx you will notice the difference.

That wouldn't improve quality. Just create more noise in low light pictures.

If you are getting lots of noise the best bet is to turn on some lights.

Fair enough. The problem might be from insufficient light and not with the sensor itself. But unless I want to start carrying around an extra flash, it doesn't really change much.

I'm a getting really tired of people saying the n900 can't take pics as well as a £100 camera, as well as it not being able to handle calls as efficiently as any other phone or offer mms etc etc etc
Why the hell shouldn't it be able to do all of this perfectly competently?? Its the latest bit of kit that cost over £500. It flipping SHOULD be able to do all of this. Why are people on here making excuses for this thing??
It just should do it. ALL of it. Whats the point of putting a camera on if its not at least as good as something like the N95 8GB - which lets face it is 2 yrs old now?:rolleyes:

I took 500+ photos on my N900 while in Egypt on holiday last week. I took man one handed. Hold the phone around the edges, thumb at the bottom, assuming your using your right hand, and the first two fingers at the top where the camera button is. It *is* annoying giving the phone to someone else to take a photo as they almost always hit the touchscreen and pull up photos taken. It would be nice if there were options for touch focus to make the touchscreen a little more useful when taking photos.

I love the quick and easy method of uploading to Flickr/Facebook/Pixelpipe, though I had some problems with Flickr via Pixelpipe. Only the first 100 or so photos appeared in the photostream. Here are the pics that posted:

I don't have a regular P&S camera. My other cameras are Nokia N82, Sony Ericsson K800i, Sony Ericsson W810i.
