Do you have any contacts whom are capable of writing/editing this plugin? Unfortunately I'm just a user, without any programming skills. If you can find somebody who's able to get this plugin up and running again, I'll sure chip in.

There are a few other telepathy plugins that work with twitter and oauth, such as:

It looks like someone just needs to port it over / recompile it for maemo. I tried to compile it in scratchbox, but I have no clue what I am doing. It should be do-able for someone that knows how to compile and release programs.

I'm pretty sure that's only for platforms where Twitter created an application themselfs.

Doubt they will care one bit what anyone will do on Maemo :P .. if they even know what it is

Been waiting for this plugin for a while to be updated with oauth. Not sure if rabbitrun84 is still working on it at all?

I recently implemented oauth via php on a website and got a bit of general knowledge. Will check out the source of this plugin and see what I can do myself. Not promising anything though :)

Ok, so there is still hope for this plugin, that's nice.
If you experience any problems while implementing/porting/recompiling/whatever, please let us know, maybe we can figure out how to get this plugin up and running again.

On the screenshot of that link he entered "api.supertweet.net" with search host url. This is incorrect, you just need to keep that on "search.twitter.com"

Hmm, I can't seem to send/receive any tweets. Does this work for anyone else?

I can connect, and it does correctly get all my "contacts" and with them their latest tweet. But I can't follow what they have been saying or receive any new tweets.

Tried to tweet something myself, but that didn't seem to work either. No error messages or anything though.

Following searches does work, but I guess that's becuase it doesn't go through the supertweet proxy server

Exactly the same problems here and I can't even login anymore (networkerror). No clue what is going wrong this time.

I've been battling network services since 9 o'clock this morning, this is one error too many for today...

Maybe one of you guys can figure out what is going wrong.

I just installed the twitter plugin, and when I go to the advanced settings menu, it is completely blank.

That happened to me too, but only when I'm connected. If you tick off the "Enabled" checkbox, I could edit the settings.

I can't get that far. I click on new account, and I can enter my login details. Pressing the advanced button gives me a blank window, and pressing sign in does nothing (the button goes grey, and nothing happens).

Is there an easy way to add it to my accounts list without logging in first?

Could someone that has their twitter account working copy something from a file for me?

Open /home/user/.rtcom-accounts/accounts.cfg

look for the section that starts with "[haze/twitter/username]", and post that section. Make sure to remove any passwords from that section (there shouldn't be any).

Remove the account and re-add it if you're getting tagged by the bug that blanks out the Advanced window.

I think the plugin is a bit flakey when it comes to saving the entered data - seems to depend where you do it; have entered stuff a number of times to have it clear the fields (i.e. -2147876orwateva (-1 as a uint) in all the timeout fields) - best to config it whilst offline from the settings app (i.e. not the status menu)

however, i cant get it working either :( it lets me log on, and i can see the people i follow in the contacts list but no timeline or anything like that :(

I tested the configuration with the twitter plugin but not run, I can only see my contacts and I also get dms, but I can not see the timeline or send tweets.but I tested this configuration in Mauku, and worked really
well, I can see the timeline and send tweets, only I can not see my contacts. which is the reason why this configuration works in Mauku and not in the plugin twitter conversations?

I put api.supertweet.net/1 as host url. Without /1, my saved searches wouldn't show up in my Contact list.

The Timeline still doesn't work though :confused:

And remember to do all editing of the account settings through the VoIP and IM accounts in the Settings menu. Otherwise you may encounter the blank Advanced Settings problem.

fyi - i downloaded the supertweet server and tried running it locally on the n900 with icetea6; unfortunately to no avail - i got loads of java errors and a 404 when attempting to access local jetty http server

it was worth a shot!

tried the win32 server as well to no avail :( installed ok, seems to be running, everything set up ok, n900 fails to log on successfully - unfortunately the supertweet server doesnt produce any errors logs other than the jetty one (which responds with 302's) so it looks like it failing somewhere up the stream - tried all the app settings on twitters site also to no avail - what needs to be done to the plugin to get it to work? i might have a look at it and see if i can do something with it - i dont think supertweet is going to work here..

fyi im a coder coming from win32 background, know little about linux but willing to try and make this work

progress update: have managed to compile latest version (0.8.0 by mikeage) for maemo5 - oauth doesnt work atm, but more stuff works using supertweet api - work is ongoing

Unfortunatly not. It's just a pitty because it's the most useful twitter client for N900 IMO. I just tested tweeGo and tweetSuit. There are ok, but having to start an external application (without having a widget on the desktop) is inconvenient. This twitter plugin seems to be fine..

Uploading picutres / changing profil settings would be cool, too. That's not possible with any twitter client on n900, right?

I'm also convinced this plugin is a nice piece of software, I really like the contacts and messages integration, to bad it doesn't work at all. I don't like those other apps: fonts to small, no widgets, etc, so I just don't use them.

Unfortunately I have no coding skills, so it won't be me fixing this plugin. I hope there will be someone skilled enough to get this plugin up and running.

There is a sharing plugin for Twitter, not sure if it works though, but you can always try it http://maemo.org/downloads/product/M...twitter-multi/

no, that plugin also does not work -- probably due to the same OAUTH problem. However, at least you can send photos by email to twitpic which works nicely with n900.

all I get is "not signed in" - and no errors showing on supertweet

these are the settings im using atm - DM's sort of seem to work, as do searches, but timelines dont yet...

/usr/share/telepathy/managers/twitter.manager

/home/user/.rtcom-accounts/accounts.cfg

replace YOURHANDLE with ur username
/usr/share/osso-rtcom/twitter.profile

am learning bout how haze works atm
