where to start?

where to start?
What we must learn to be a "hard user" and make the most of the N900?
Linux? Debian? LDXE? Maemo 5? What is the path of stones?
thanks!

You should probably start by reading the documentation that comes with N900. Then head to http://wiki.maemo.org/ for additional information.

Let me explain better.
I used other platforms such as Palm OS (Treo 650, Centro), Symbian (N82) and the basic N900 already mastered.
I want to learn the advanced area, using lines of code and other additional features that are not in the manual N900, ok?

Did you miss where it says "Developer" (in a rather large font, I hasten to add) on the link given?

Then the wiki is a good place to look, and also google searching for particular commands.

Ok, I need to know is how to install this application, for example.

LXDE+Open Office

Advanced Control Cam

Thanks

Not providing a name for the app you want doesn't really help us. You can get some apps from https://wiki.maemo.org/Extras

The answer to your original question is "Yes."

Understanding Linux, and Debian will help you greatly for the more advanced tweaking of the N900. Package management, configuration, boot procedures, etc.

LXDE not so much.. understanding Maemo 5 is an obvious.

Unfortunately there isn't a "How to become an uber-l33t Linux master in 24 easy steps" guide. This all comes from trial and error. It help a great deal to have a debian-based linux machine at your house in either a VM, as a primary, or just one you use occasionally.

What you linked to was Easy Debian. Search these forums.. qole has made this relatively easy to install, along with instructions on what to do. Then you can run Open Office.

Re: where to start?

I think we should have tutorials for eg: creating a .deb package in 12 easy steps.

I'd like to create one for dictionary databases without having to go through the whole linux 101 and developing for maemo 101 tutorials.

I'm just a wannabe hacker that doesn't have the time to get familiar with real development.
But maintaining a dict database is certainly something I'd like to do.
