Re: cannot install any application
Open a terminal and type: apt-get update
Look for some errors in the last lines of the output. |

@pokernemesis, mele:
Make sure you've closed the application manager before trying to apt-* anything, as you can't lock something that's already locked. Theoretically that should fix it... |

Re: cannot install any application
Did you guys stick stuff onto the N900 in mass storage mode that might confuse the N900?
Did you create or copy over any files or directories that look the same or have the same name as the ones on the N900? Why confuse the device? For example did you put any folders on to it called dev, bin, usr, opt, etc? I am not a programmer or developer but i can tell you I got a lot of reboot problems when I started sticking folders onto it with those types of names and then i ignored it and started trying to use app manager to install apps. I had to uninstall every app and delete every folder and file i stuck on the device (excluding music) and then the reboots went away. |

Re: cannot install any application
I cannot install any apps after the firmware update.
I tried apt-get update and got errors saying Resolving host timed out: downloads.maemo.nokia.com and E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead. When trying to install something like Facebook or Weather that came with the phone, the screen says "preparing for installation" and stays there for a long time, then stops to an error message. |

Re: cannot install any application
I'm not sure about vpnc. I'm using home WLAN and it works fine.
Apps that require online connection in the install process cannot be installed. Small apps from the phone memory work ok. Command #4 didn't work because there is no file called libicd_network_ipv4.script.dpkg-dist but there is a file libicd_network_ipv4.script Edit: I changed the online connection from my home WLAN to 3G and all problems disappeared... I'd still like to know why my home WLAN doesn't work when installing apps and how to fix it. |
