So I can send MMS to someone without any data plan and he/she sees the photo and vice versa.
It's such a simple concept and to some, it's something you just cannot do without.

Actually it is not. It usually costs as much as WAP traffic do. Close to nothing (as max message size is quite small), yet not really nothing.

I do not find it messy or risky either. It is just that simple if you keep in mind that you should not delete merged contacts if you want it to stay on the server (and there is even warning message for that)

It's not that MMS is a vital feature, It just happens to be those few that I never got that were also some of the only ones I got in a year. The point here is that MMS is a basic feature, It's a basic phone feature, they got the rest right, My calls are crystal clear and SMS is done brilliantly.

Hmm. Looks quite strange: if i have non MMS-capable phone (or just capable one with MMS not properly set up), i get SMS notification with WAP link to its content. Does your cellular operator behave differently?

We need 3G Video Calls!!!
I cant believe we have the hardware (front cam) and no software for it!!

I believe it is one and the same. From my understandings, they both operate off of a WAP stack. So once MMS is implemented, the networking stack for video calls will be there too for anyone to slap on a front end.

I could be wrong though :)

in spain at least, no provider (and we have more than 10) charges anything for receiving mms... not a single cent... they use a different data apn which has no cost.

MMS beats flickr, facebook, twitter & all other idiotic ways of keeping in touch 24/7 like a complete & utter freak.

It's the fastest & most efficient way to send pics/videos/songs, etc. which practically any phone now a days can receive. Not everyone has a high-tec phone with internet capability to browse & check their emails/social websites. Plus, even if they did, not everyone has an internet data-plan, so they still need a wi-fi hotspot. TOO MUCH HASSLE just because Nokia is unefficient :)
