Re: Firmware to be released Q1 of '10. MMS to be supported.

Im missing out on my parents pictures from their visit in India atm... my other relatives get them, sony ericsson and iphones there.. . ;-) .. I would love to see MMS.

Asking my mom to hook up the phone in a computer somewhere and email them is out of the question.. .

Re: Firmware to be released Q1 of '10. MMS to be supported.

talking about the push nature of mms and the poll of email...
yes thats a feature i want to see implemented asap way way before mms.. its imap-idle support i miss it compared to profimail on my E90...

then email is instant and will consume way less power then polling like a mad man..

stupid thing is that i hear that previous versions of modest had support for it, but it is disabled on purpose!

Bingo. Nokia has only a few more days, if not weeks to announce this before some other company does.

Google has huge plans Google Voice that include potentially including video calls on mobile clients. Apple is more than likely going to finally debut a video enabled version of iChat for mobile clients.

All speculation, but video calls is very high on my list.

I doubt Google will be released this year. That would run the bandwidth usages too high.

Not in the U.S. :-(

But on the flip side, there's web sites that will send texts and MMS for free because the receiver has to pay to receive them.

Which is another reason why in the U.S. you can text almost anyone for free by sending a short message to an email address, e.g., xxxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com where xxx is the mobile number.

So I can send MMS to someone without any data plan and he/she sees the photo and vice versa.
It's such a simple concept and to some, it's something you just cannot do without.

Actually it is not. It usually costs as much as WAP traffic do. Close to nothing (as max message size is quite small), yet not really nothing.

tip is called get it out for chritmass under any circu mstance. sadly they messed up on vital things not just lack of mms.

I do not find it messy or risky either. It is just that simple if you keep in mind that you should not delete merged contacts if you want it to stay on the server (and there is even warning message for that)

It's not that MMS is a vital feature, It just happens to be those few that I never got that were also some of the only ones I got in a year. The point here is that MMS is a basic feature, It's a basic phone feature, they got the rest right, My calls are crystal clear and SMS is done brilliantly.

Hmm. Looks quite strange: if i have non MMS-capable phone (or just capable one with MMS not properly set up), i get SMS notification with WAP link to its content. Does your cellular operator behave differently?

I believe it is one and the same. From my understandings, they both operate off of a WAP stack. So once MMS is implemented, the networking stack for video calls will be there too for anyone to slap on a front end.

I could be wrong though :)

dave i am no techie here but no it really wont be working like that.. well especially the way that we want it implemented , gtalk or msn.. its just over 3g or wifi like any pc.. sod video calls.. what a waste of money.

in spain at least, no provider (and we have more than 10) charges anything for receiving mms... not a single cent... they use a different data apn which has no cost.

Re: Firmware to be released Q1 of '10. MMS to be supported.

MMS beats flickr, facebook, twitter & all other idiotic ways of keeping in touch 24/7 like a complete & utter freak.

It's the fastest & most efficient way to send pics/videos/songs, etc. which practically any phone now a days can receive. Not everyone has a high-tec phone with internet capability to browse & check their emails/social websites. Plus, even if they did, not everyone has an internet data-plan, so they still need a wi-fi hotspot. TOO MUCH HASSLE just because Nokia is unefficient :)

God help you if you ever help conceive a child. ;) It'll be here when it's ready. Nothing you can do or say is going to make it come any sooner. And if you 'force' the issue because of your impatience, you might do permanent damage.

It will happen. We know it will happen as it's already in comminuty checks. But until the waters break, no amount of pushing is going to do owt.

I don't think it's Jan, but I think Adobe did announce Flash 10 for Q1 or 2010. But that gives them too March.

I sure hope so.. but damn I've gotten one heck of a laugh on the tags on a great number of threads.

So I'm thinking the mods don't really care...

NOTE: I'm not setting them.. but quite a few of them are rude/sarcastic/unhelpful
