N900 memory problem
Last night I used my N900 to listen to music and when I woke up all my music was gone. I checked the memory usage, surprisingly almost 32gb internal memory disappeared. Then I DID use hard reset mode by flash and reinstalled anything. However, no help. Here are pictures from N900 and my computer. Any help I appreciate. Thanks in advance.

Re: N900 memory problem
Hi,
I have had the same problem, could not play music (the playlist was there, but after pressing play the "song could not be found" message) all my pictures could not be found. The camera refused to take pictures as it could not access any storage etc.. After I plugged my device on the computer running Ubuntu Linux, (mass storage modus) I could find and access de MyDocs on the device all pictures and songs where available. When I unplugged the device they where again accessible on my device too, have no idea why. Maybe you could try the same... Good luck... |
Re: N900 memory problem
good point.
my phone can't access music if i have it plugged in to my vista pc. |
Re: N900 memory problem
I have no idea either. Now I have 1.38 internal memory and 16GB of my external micro SD card. Wonder where 32GB go? T_T sad..........

I'm not a Linux expert but I'm sure there's a few dozen commands you could issue from the Terminal to show the partitions. (Quick google shows "fdisk -l" would show the partitions (think you have to run as root). There's also an option to reflash and rebuild the eMMC partition of the N900 as well as reinstalling the firmware etc.http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_t...MC_in_the_N900 |
Re: N900 memory problem
Check "mount" output,
try from root and see if there is any errors: Code:
fsck.vfat /dev/mmcblk0p1 |
Re: N900 memory problem
The moment you plug your N900 into your computer USB port, it will unmount the vfat partition (because it gets mounted as a flash drive on your PC instead).
Once you properly eject it from Mass Storage mode, it will get mounted again. |
Re: N900 memory problem
I had the same problem with my phone. It lost all memory except 455 mb, and would not run any programs due to lack of memory. I turned it in for service, but they could not fix it and has shipped it to Nokia. I'll have to wait 2-3 weeks for an answer. Sucks!

Re: N900 memory problem
same problem is here
i lost all 32GB intenal memory except 445.5MB madness !!!!!! |
Re: N900 memory problem
As posted in the other thread. I've seen a couple of instances of this in the Nokia forums. But in their case it was caused by dropping the device or giving it a sharp accidental knock.
Turned out they had dislodged the EMMC module from the mainboard. |

dislodged or damaged ???? is there a chance of being repaired in a service center??? |
Re: N900 memory problem
Either one, dislodged or damaged, it would still need to be repaired.
I'm not too savvy with the actual internals of the N900, so not exactly sure how the EMMC module is installed. Not sure if it's surface mounted (soldered directly to the board) or a plug in type module (like the BIOS in a PC). |
Re: N900 memory problem
Sorry for double post.
Just found one of the relevant threads on the Nokia forum: http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/...ng/td-p/678373 |
