ovi maps: change directory of maps
Hi, is it possible to change the default directory (/home/user/MyDocs/cities) of ovi maps to a directory that I specify on the N900? If so, how to do it?
If it would be on a ext3 fs I could just symlink it -.-. Thanks in advance. Narf - thread would be better in applications or maemo5 forum -.- |
Re: ovi maps change maps directory
I have Nokia mate, I think the app is reading the data from the eMMC and you will have to modifying the configure file somewhere in the home folder.
But OVI map on N900 suck hard time. Not much you can do with it at the moment. GPS took like 1hour to lock without connection on a cold start. You will have to run the Locate app to work. I'm hoping they would fix it and add more functionality like off line search. |
Re: ovi maps change maps directory
It should work with a simple symlink like
ln -s /home/user/MyDocs/cities /path/to/your/maps I used something like that for QStarDict... which is also in /home/user/MyDocs/ |

I want /home/user/MyDocs/cities to be a link to a directory I specifiy - lets say /path/to/your/maps. But ln -s /path/to/your/maps /home/user/MyDocs/cities is not possible because /home/user/MyDocs/cities is a vfat file system, which is a file system that does not support symlinks. So is there another way to do it - e.g. with the help of a config file? |
Re: ovi maps change maps directory
If I start nokia-maps from the shell it says
cachedir: /home/user/MyDocs/cities/diskcache data : /usr/share/nokia-maps/ user : /home/user/.nokia-maps/ so maybe someone at least thought about a different directory. Maybe I can out something in /home/user/.nokia-maps/ which tells the application where the diskcache should be? But what -.-? |
Re: ovi maps change maps directory
I tried the same. Encountered the same problems. Seems that ovi maps wants to have its cities directory om the physical partition that normally MyDocs resides on. In my case I changed partitions and found out it works this way. Have yet to figure out how and where to override this.
