Not certain what actually casues the slowdowns, but whatever they are, the slowdowns are extreme, making it almost unusable. That said, In general, scrolling is certainly usable, but, as you say, it really should be much smoother even when there is nothing obvious impeding it.

There is another issue with webkit: When using it in portrait mode there is no text reflow (right-hand margins are cut off), and so it is not possible to read articles without reverting to landscape.

Also, 0.5.2-2 now uses the theme color for unread messages.

I do see that, and many thanks for implementing it, but I might have to eat my words on this added feature. Depending on the theme, this works well or, more often than not, actually makes things worse. For example: with theme Marina it is perfect. With Digital Nature it's petty bad. For some of the themes I tested your previous light blue worked better. Maybe user preference here? "Turn on theme colors." Or maybe the specific source for your theme colors could be causing the problem?

Note, there is an issue in the 0.5 series with the read/unread tracking, sometimes articles are listed multiple times. Leaving the feed listing, and coming back in usually fixes it.

Not sure I am seeing that, but I do see that "expired" articles are still in the feed, even from many days ago. Which begs the question: what does "delete articles after 24 hours" actually mean, if after 72 hours old articles are still there?

Wow, fantastic, it works!

The articles/summaries should reflow in portrait, and not overflow unless there are large images. If you click on a link (or in the Archived Articles), some webpages impose a minimum width (through their layout), in which case they'd be cut off. Last night's update also fixes the horizontal scrolling button, so you can enable it now again to view those webpages (it disables the swipe gesture). It's not ideal, but I can't come up with anything better for now.

I noticed that this morning. I grab the color from the small text in the feed buttons. The Marina theme uses the same color there as in the "unread" messages for the email client, so i thought it was the right one. But that's not the case for most of the other themes. Back to the drawing board, and finding a way to get to the right color.

Recent updates work this way:
- If an old article is read and over 24 hours (the expiry limit), purge it. Otherwise, keep it.
- If an old article is unread and over 48 hours (2 times the expiry limit), purge it. Otherwise, keep it.
- Add all the articles from the feed update (including articles that could be very old, but still present in the RSS)

Forgot about menu/allow horizontal scrolling - that certainly helps a lot. And true, images "break" reflow. I guess the remaining problem, at least for me, is getting webkit to scroll nicely, hopefully as well as the article browser scrolls.

I see. Well, if you can't find a good alternative, what do you think about a preference to turn on/off "theme colors?"

Are you saying that the if the feeds have older articles still present, they will download again, regardless of the first two conditions? (I numbered your conditions list above.) If so, then that would explain the presence of articles older than 48 hours.

It's an option, but i'd prefer just finding the right colour!

That's correct. If the articles are still in the XML file that is received from the feed, they'll keep being displayed. Note that it's also partly the cause for the read/unread bug I mentioned before, so this could change.

0.5.2-3 in extras-devel which now finds the right color for unread items from the theme. And possible fix for the Mark all as read button.

I have the same issue here 0.5.2-3 can't open feeds. Have tried disabling webkit but issue persists.

Same here. After the update, only feeds without unread items can be opened...
