SDK Virtual Image - 1.0 Final for download?

Hi all,

I did do a search but couldn't find anything, so I am sorry if this has been asked/answered else where.

The project for the Maemo SDK Virtual Image hosted here Lists the project as updated and ready for download as Version 1.0 final. When going to the download page which is hosted on tablets-dev it's not exactly easy to work out which one is the latest download (no time stamp on anything) and lists things as either Prefinal in the download name or Prefinal 2 Beta in the description.

Does anyone know which is the Version 1 ? I am guessing Maemo_Ubuntu_Intrepid_Desktop_SDK_Virtual_Image_Sp litted.zip.001 and the description is out of date. I'd rather not download 4 GB on my crappy Australian Internet to find out; as it will take ages and we have download caps :P

Any insight would be great and also a good place for beginners to begin ;)

Cheers
Rip

So no one out there uses this project with the SDK?

*shameless bump*

Re: SDK Virtual Image - 1.0 Final for download?

I'm on Win XP and I was playing with the SDK Virtual Image. After a while I was able to compile a "Hello world" in C++ and run it in the emulator box. I also was able to connect to the device from the ESBox through my Windows (at the moment I stucked at some library-missing problem just before being able to run the program :) ).

So, it seems like the image works even if it seems to be outdated. There is also a thread about something new: MADDE, which AFIU should work better on Windows. I didn't try it.

Cheers for that, just would be handy if they have time stamps on the files so you can work it out or even direct links to the image that was updated.

but yes the MADDE does look pretty slick.

Re: SDK Virtual Image - 1.0 Final for download?

I've installed the PreFinal desktop virtual machine and MADDE. I've only had a quick play, but it seems that I can only get the virtual machine to work with virtualbox which gives me a crap resolution and lags like hell. VMWare gave me an error when I tried to start up the image. The IDE looks decent (if only it had a higher resolution). I'm not sure what sort of IDE MADDE has (if any at all). I think its to be used as the compiler more then anything else.

Anyone got any ideas how to get virtualbox running with a higher resolution (my LCD is 1920x1200) and with less lag? I'd appreciate any help.

I have the same question as RipTorn: Which files correspond to the final version?

So far I don't think anyone really knows.

I ended up downloading VirtualBox and Ubuntu Ibex and used the scratchbox GUI installer.

With VirtualBox you need to install the Guest tools (then reboot) and also set a decent amount of Ram (I use 512) and Video ram (I use 128)

I dont think my system is anything special, Core2Duo and Nvidia 280 and it seems to run fine.

Nevermind which version of SDK you will install it can be updated to latest by simple "fakeroot apt-get update;fakeroot apt-get upgrade" commands.

I am using MaemoSDK VM image from tablets-dev and upgraded fremantle-x86/armel to latest ones that way.
