Ok another bug. Mark a track, just one click, and press the play buttom twice. Qtify will not respond anymore and close in a few seconds. Can someone confirm this?

EDIT: This is only when no song is playing

Just updated to latest version of qtify. It still closes after I try to login, and despotiy still says OFFLINE.

It's a known bug - the app will segfault instantly if you have no playliston your account. I'm working on this right now.

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

Qtify seems to force language upon me, eventhough my phone language is set to english, Qtify is in finnish. I can't seem to find any settings where you can choose. Lanugage should be based on the phone language not country imo, or be changeable.

Another bug is that is remembers my password from earlier and suggests it in plaintext. That doesn't seem very secure :)

The sound dips have lessend with the latest version though. Plays fine as long as you're not doing anything else with the phone.

Ok, so you have english language and finnish local settings? (like currency and time-format?).

That's a good point, i'll try to fix it.

Hi!

i was wondering login problems through my work-wlan... and i noticed that it needed tcp4070 port opened, after that login was successful

well... tcp4070 opened i got "updating playlists" , but can't get no further

is there a list somewhere what ports are needed?

hmm..i can listen spotify through my laptop on the same wlan, weird :confused:

It logs me in just fine and says:

ONILNE ap4.spotify.com

Strange crash. I hope it gets corrected.

Ofcourse it says offline before you've logged in. Either way it doesn't work with a free account so that's probably what is causing the crash. You can test your account by actually logging in with despotify.

to do this, as I've mentioned before,
run xterm
type despotify
type :
it should now say command> at the bottom
type connect
it will ask for username and password

I guess it will tell you that login failed or something if you use a free account. I don't know, I only have a premium account.

Then you are online. Press "/" to search. But you are aware of that this thread is not about despotify, but qtify right? You are not using qtify when you are typing "despotify" in x-term.

EDIT: Btw I found some issues playing tracks after a while in despotify, may this occur as a problem in the qtify-package as well?

EDIT2: I did by mistake start streaming songs from spotify on my computer when I was connected to qtify at the same time which resulteted in a total freeze of qtify. May not be a high priority bug though.

EDIT3: I think qtify needs to be a bit optified.
Before installation: avaible space on rootfs: 67584
After installation: avaible space on rootfs: 56196

Can someone confirm that the installation of qtify + all required packages takes this amount of space?

The despotify client is just like Qtify a client to the despotify library. So the despotify client itself can contain bugs that qtify don't have. If you remember what songs were problematic, can you try them in both players?

You can only stream songs to 1 client per account, but itäs well worth looking up why it freezes completely :)

I'll take a look on this too, but i think it is some package that gets installed along with qtify that isn't optified, might be libvorbis, libao or despotify.

Not sure if that is related to ports...
I got it working once, next time I started it hung on "updating playlists". Both in my home WLAN and in 3G. I used 3G at the first time.
My best guess would be there is a bug in the, well, updating-playlists code. Hexagon, let me know if I can help debugging this problem.

could it be possible to add a notification for non-premium logging before program closes?

I finally fell for premium yesterday evening and qtify seems to work pretty well when compared to the amount of time available and size of the project. will be testing qtify, does it have a bugtracker or are bugs tracked here or somewhere else?

Isn't it the meaning of silent mode to have no sound? At least I wouldn't like it if some programs still have sounds when my device is in silent mode.

I guess he meant that the app cant access the sound device while i silent mode. That will case qtify to freeze.

Note to all users/testers:

After update to maemo pr1.1 fingerscrolling finally works :D Some elements in the interface got screwed up however... But i'll fix that tonight :)

application works fine, just no sound.

I just expected similar functionality as the builtin mediaplayer offers.

e: and noticed the fingerscrolling, made the app million times better :)

If the phone is in silent mode and you try to play a song, it will freeze, so it's definitely a bug :)

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

0.0.3 released in the repos, it doesn't seem to be available at the moment though

Changelist:

* Adjusted ui-controls to match pr1.1 update changes
* Various performance fixes
* Various stability fixes
* Added bosnian translation
* Updated finnish, norwegian and swedish translations
* Finger-scrolling working since PR1.1 is well worth mentioning :D

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

Just installed it:

- didnt crash when i accidently typed my password wrong

- authenticating, after correct password typed seems to take a hell long of time. Maybe i got some issues, dont know. Didnt cover from that and had to "kill it".

- Second time authenticating didnt take that much time and worked well

- UI improved to much usable!

- Little pause when display dimmed out

- Still not enough "perfomanced". Even if i play with menu it makes little pauses. If i put display and keyboard locked it still make some glitches/pauses randomly even if i dont have any other software running on background. Despotify too heavy for n900?

Thank you for this version. Finally UI is worth to mention :)

I havent got qtify 0.0.2 to freeze doing that... strange.

TNiga 2010-01-15 10:26

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

I haven't tried Qtify (or despotify) myself but I think those sound glitches/pauses might have something to do with alsa (if Qtify/despotify even uses alsa). When I tested MPD with alsa (card hw0:0) I also had glitches/pauses but when I configured MPD to use PulseAudio, glitches/pauses were gone.

Hope this helps solving the problem.

The despotify guys are working on timeouts for authentication/playlist fetching/searching etc. That will stop these complete freezings :)

I think the sound glitches has to to with a too small soundbuffer in libao/pulseaudio... I just don't know how to fix it right now, but i'm working on it :)

Edit: I have serious problems logging in myself at the moment, doesn't think it's qtify related though. It might be the playlist server that's down....

Edit2: despotify-simple hangs too when fetching playlists... Playlist server is not responding... After the despotify update we will be able to login even if this happens

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

Hexagoon: Tried to log on two times today and couldn't log on. It freezes just after login (authenticating....) and doesnt go further. Cant test more this time and tried to remove it and install again to see does it help, but maemo repos seems to on move also ... so ... :D

But if there is some problem with servers... well, next time before i uninstall qtify, i'll read this thread again :-)

Lets see what tomorrow brings in!

.3 works even better so good work!

noticed that at least with finnish translations album and artist are switched. so below artist is a list of albums and below album is list of artists.

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

Hey All! I just released a new version (0.1.0) with some features i know you've been waiting for... It will be available in the extras-devel repo shortly.

If you have qtify since before, you might have to use the terminal to update despotify before updating qtify, here's the commands (requires package rootsh):

sudo gainroot
apt-get remove despotify
apt-get install libdespotify
apt-get install despotify (if you want the console client)

Here's the changelist (i might have forgotten something :) ):

* Separated playlist/search view
* Added hildon menu
* Added remember password function (Thanks to Micke Nordin)
* Added album view (click in album column to show)
* Single click now plays songs
* Made logo transparent
* Various small UI improvements
* Updated Swedish translations (others is now outdated)

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

Cool! Very good job! Thanks alot again!

Some ideas for features:

- Display some kind of "Now playing" - really good to have
- Make it possible to select songs from specific artist. If you search for a artist now you get some results of tracks from other artists as well. If it would be possible to search for all tracks from the selected artist(by clicking on the artist name) , it would be great!
- Sort tracks after rating ability
- Shuffle ability, on/off
- When you move along the playlist with the arrow keys, it should be possible to start the track by pressing enter. Not possible atm.

This is just some brainstorming from me, hope it's useful :)

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

Tried to remove despotify, said that new qtify and libdespotify will be installed, but it didnt go well and qtify was removed totally after playing a while. Now installed new version via app. manager.

Comments: UI muuuuuuch way better! bigggg thumbs for that!

Remembering password also feature that i like a lot.

Single click also much nicer way to play songs. double click with pen was pain in the *** sometimes :)

ThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyou!

nice improvments - rem user/pwd, album list.

my only issue is that spotify crash when playing songs in album view(without reason).

once again. great update dude...

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

Hmm crash like freeze or crash like shutdown? Is it any specific albums that's more prone to crash than others?

Many questions... ;)

The latest version is very stable and nice. Great work!

I'd still like the language to be either selectable or based on the language of the phone. Right now it seems to be based on network or location.
