would be cool if all album were presented instead of just one. any plans in that area? :p

add/remove cover button is not easy to hit with fat fingers like mine. cool feature though:rolleyes:

Am I missing something, or is it just possible to view 100 tracks in the list?

Dave999 2010-01-19 23:05

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

Search is limited to 100, i'm not sure about playlists though, does that stop on 100 too?

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

I bet someone is wondering why no updates is showing up... And i have the answer :)

I'm working on a total rewrite of qtify, now using libopenspotify instead of despotify, and qt4.6(beta) instead of 4.5... This is due to the fact that there was a considerable amount of "persistent" bugs in the libs i used in the first versions... Expect an update in ~1week (or maybe less) :)

Sounds great Hexagoon, thanks a lot for your work in this project, much appreciated!

Looks like openspotify is way more active in it's development, hopefully it will include offline mode :o

Good work. And if offline mode ever comes, spotify have one more customer, I think they should help with some documentation or so

No thats only for the Xbox Media Center. It has some nice features though, mixing local files with spotify files is one of them. :)

Any chance this can stream through the builtin FM transmitter? Would make my car journeys immensely more enjoyable.

I believe almost any application that plays sound (besides phone calls) can use the FM transmitter. You just have to manually enable it (either with the widget or going into settings and selecting FM transmitter).

I do it with panucci all the time.

Hexagoon 2010-02-04 11:20

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

The FM-transmitter works nicely with qtify.

And now to the progress report.

Done
  • Project rewritten from start, now using libopenspotify instead of despotify and qt4.6 beta instead of qt 4.5
  • I've ditched libao and is now using pulseaudio directly... Waay less soundgaps now my friends :)
  • The app works awesome linked against the official lib (which isnt available for arm-platform. But the open implementation libopenspotify still has some gaps to fill.
  • The gui isn't too polished at the moment, a little work left to do here.
  • The shuffle functionality is finally implemented and tested =)

Left to do before release
  • Report bugs to the libopenspotify developer and/or hope that the offial lib will be available for maemo
  • Reimplement the "remeber password" functionality
  • Polish the user interface
  • Re-make the artist and album browse views
  • Settings dialog for caching and audio quality
  • Upload translations to transifex and wait for users to complete translations
  • Create deb package
  • Upload

Any help appreciated, if you are an experienced c++ developer, don't hesitate to join the project at http://qtify.garage.maemo.org/ :)

I confirm that it works.

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

Checked and FM transmitter works great, thanks a lot.

Maybe I am missing a trick but is it not possible to sort an artist by rating? Clicking on Rating doesn't seem to do anything for me. That is my usual sort mechanism to get to the most played songs from the artist so was wondering if I can get the same result on the Qtify?

I bought myself a premium account to try maemo spotify client. Is qtify going to be available for free accounts as well? Is there a possibility in the future to have radio like in the win client?

I doubt it, given that libdespotify doesn't support free accounts. Spotify has limited non PC streaming to premium accounts and a) It would be illegal to try to reverse engineer their free streaming b) They can easily change the protocol and block it if they so want

radio? offline? creating playlists?

Hexagoon 2010-02-06 11:01

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

radio: What?
offline: Not yet
creating playlist: It's coming

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

@Heaxagoon

What about sorting by Most Played/rating? Is that feasible?

Hexagoon 2010-02-07 01:01

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

sorting song in a playlist by most played isn't really a part of the spotify api, however there is some kind of private toplist functionality, i'll look that up. Sorting by rating is already implemented in the latest version

Hmm, maybe its just me but sorting by any field doesn't work for me. Presumably to sort I just need click on the header (e.g. Album, artist, rating etc.?) but that doesn't do anything in my case. Other than that I can't see any other option to sort

Dave999 2010-02-07 16:24

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

the new version isn't availble yet. Hexagoon is working on it. he will probably inform us in thread when the update is uploaded. sit tight.

arbitrabbit 2010-02-07 23:17

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

@Hexagoon

Toplist is not the same thing from what I can tell. Was looking through the libspotify documentation and toplist gives you a list of the most listened tracks, albums or artists by zone or just for yourself. It is a pretty nifty feature to have if you want to listen to the most popular songs in say UK but won't give you the most listened songs by an artist from what I can tell.

However, if I am not wrong, you are implementing the "popularity" XML tag as the field you call rating, right? That tag seems to tell how many times has that song been played, in relation to other songs which are sent in response to the search query. So if that is indeed how you work out the rating header, then sorting by rating should give us sorting by most played (This is what I used as reference)

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

Oh, well if thats the case, it's already implemented. You really did your research there :) Maybe i should rename the column "rating" to something more appropriate? Ideas? Is popularity a better description?

I would say "Most Played" to keep it consistent with the PC client or Popularity.

hey hexagoon. any progress or status report¿?¿??

Hexagoon 2010-02-24 17:47

Re: Announcement: Qtify (spotify client) released

To be honest, i lost all momentum when yaspot were released and i had to rewrite the whole program from scratch. Another problem is that my spotify premium account has expired, and i doesn't normally listen to that much music.

The only thing that might get me back on track would be if i got a co-developer to share ideas and workload with.

The new version of qtify is fully functional and a good base to develop further, for any interested developer :)

Would it be possible to port Qtify to Windows?
I got a carputer and a 7" touch-screen and would love to use Quitify in my car too.

since qtify is in Qt4 you just have to recompile it for windows using Qt SDK for Windows and it will work !

Hexagoon what do you say, are there any possibility that you could make a Windows version?
