The clock in the status area follows the main system font colour, so to edit the main system font you need to edit the colors.config file in your current themes main folder, colors.css in YOUR THEME/css and the gtkrc file in YOUR THEME/gtk-2.0.

Once that's done delete the gtkrc.cache file, and you're good to go!

EDIT: I'm pretty sure that the letters on the keyboard also follow the main system font colour.

Screen Backlight / Lock + Keyboard LED MOD

-Devices screen stays fully lit up when locked, for a few minutes.
(great for a screen with a big photo or clock)
IE: you can see active screen but touch screen does nothing!
((I tried making screen stay lit for 30 mins but thats too long.. :())

-keyboard LEDs (backlight) stay on for 60 seconds also, with slow fade. (great for night use)

HOW TO: copy attached file (Rename to mce.ini) to /etc/mce/
*but BACKUP your mce.ini first*

Maximus, just pick your favorite wallpaper and on your PC and save it four times as wallpaper1, wallpaper2 etc. Then create the desktop file mentioned on the bottom of this page (http://nokia-n900.com/n900-backgroun...r-by-yourself/) and use the same names you used for the wallpapers. Then dump all 5 files (4 wallpapers and 1 desktop file) in your images folder on your N900. Now when you go to change background you will see the name of the file you created there.

Hope this helped.

I think what he ment was to have fully static wallpaper and only icons would move when you swipe the screen.

Would indeed be a cool looking feature!

Guys,
Wanting to make the desktop widgets clear. I am sure I saw these or at least a post about them some threads back though can't find it now.
Would it be possible for someone to change the FMTX widget and button to clear and text to blue, leaving the red and blue on off the same?

@ Coffee - sure thing chicken wing. Attached.

Unzip to your MyDocs folder and then copy entire directory. Can't recall exactly what the command was I used (trial and error methodology being a linux noob) but I think it went something like:

Code:

sudo gainroot
mv /home/user/MyDocs/hildon/* /usr/shared/icons/hicolor/18x18/hildon/

Well, it was either
Code:

mv
or
Code:

cp
. Can't recall to be honest, but got there in the end.

I'm sure if I've got it wrong one of the linux bods on here will sort out my erroneous posting.

All of the standard white icons are in there and chromed. Need to find the 2G, 2.5G, 3G and 3.5G ones to finish the job, and also if anyone knows where to find the graphics for the CPU-MEM applet I can run those through the filter too. Cheers all

Well couldn't it be done with a solid color background or something with stripes horizontal? Yes i know it wouldn't be you choice of wich ever .png, but maybe it would look cool to or a way to test it. Maybe somebody should make a brainstorm or request for it ;)

I'd have a look through the transitions.ini, I'm sure that there are a few settings in there that'll do it- one (if I remember rightly) controls something like the number of angles the screen physically flips through (so less angles = quicker flip overall), and failing that you could edit the transition time itself for that action making it quicker.

EDIT: Or just use my transition file, it might do the trick straight if you're not already using a custom transition.ini

just change 'sequenced = 0' to 'sequenced = 1'
and 'duration = 250' to 'duration = 1200'

the duration (speed) can be set how ever you like,
higher number = faster movement (or slower, cant remember!)

(thanks to megaexer for explaining this to me)

That's some of the settings from a custom transitions.ini, the one I linked a few posts ago has the wave effect and quite tight transition times so if you just want to try it to see how it looks (as opposed to modifying your own) I'd suggest starting with that.

The file needs to be put in the main folder of the current theme you are using, which will usually be opt/usr/share/themes/YOUR THEME - I stress usually because it does vary from theme to theme

D4rKarl,
hmmm, that is odd!
I just double checked to make sure I haven't put my foot in my mouth.
I am using the alpha (N Series) and found the transitions.ini file in hildon-desktop, the only file in that folder actually.
I have looked under opt/usr/share/themes and only find folders to the themes. Maybe I have mine really screwed up or a different version?
I know zip about any of this, so please don't get offended, simply confused.

I AM A TOOL..
I gust realised I was looking under usr/share/themes/.
That said, I just checked under opt/usr/share/themes and still the same thing. Should the file be floating in the themes folder loosely and by it's self. Not in a specific theme etc?

So with all this, should any files be in the hildon-desktop folder?

Hey buddy. Your original transitions.ini file is in /usr/share/hildon-desktop. If you replace this one with any modified one, you will have modified transitions for any theme you choose. The only thing is the performance will vary from theme to theme.

If you only want to modify the transitions of a specific theme, then you need to go into your theme folder and edit the transitions.ini file in /opt/usr/share/themes/YOUR THEME (which is the name of the theme you are using.

Keep in mind though that if you do that, every time your theme has an update, you will need to go there afterward and re-edit the transitions.ini file.

Hope this helps!

D4rKlar, your help is much appreciated.

Just put the modified transitions.ini here and it will only affect that specifig theme:
/usr/share/themes/yourthemedirectory/

If you put your custom transitions.ini under hildon-desktop (or whatever that was) it will affect all themes. That's the only difference of those two locations.

You don't have to create any index.theme -files etc as someone mentioned before.

You don't need to go to /opt... since folder /usr/share/theme is symlinked there.

Following on from the chrome experience yesterday please find attached the Cell Status chromed up as well. Unzip the file to MyDocs and move the contents using;

Code:

sudo gainroot
cp /home/user/MyDocs/cellstatus/* /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon

Then delete the "cellstatus" folder from MyDocs using;
Code:

cd /home/user/MyDocs
rm -r cellstatus

Enjoy.
