What cen we delete/remove?

Hi all, tis me, just some questions, can we remove stuff we dont need like for e.g. the built in games? it will make more room for apps etc im sure, and is it safe to remove games? if so how would i go about removing them from the system so no icons etc are left
Thanx for any help guys :D

it isn't safe. removing anything that is in the device after reflash isn't a wise option (besides user manuals and those couple mp3's and videos i think)

i would like to see a great big list of "ballast" items.
it was something that i did a while ago, but since i did it i know things have changed.

the device comes with additional themes and some language support files for countries i will personally never need.

this kind of stuff is essential for a flash image and for full running, but you as the owner know what you use and whats not, if we can get a map built up, perhaps people can make their own decisions.

Some parts of this list should be a good beginning (but not all!)

well why cant you remove buit in games?- surely they are not intergral to the system.

i cant believe that we cannot delete chess or blocks.

and if thats true- why??

Well, you can list the installed packages by opening a terminal and typing:

Code:

dpkg -l
You could then look at the packages you don't think are required, like the extra language files. Do the following to see what files are included in that package:

Code:

dpkg -L <package>
But to be honest, you would maybe save a couple Mb of space, which probably isn't worth the hassle.

More interesting would be a list of processes which are not necessary and can be turned off if not needed.

because you might end up removing some libs at the same and that can cause serious problems when later updating software....

dasilva, same principle really.
theres whole sites dedicated to it in windows, hackers guide sorta things :)

i remember having to review such things when i wanted to reduce the footprint to play the best games well.
