@peppe78: as long as the message opens fine its safe to ignore them ;)

Most likely due to your provider performing "content adaption" for you, which is out of the applications control as it supplies all the needed information but some operators happily ignore it. :<

Hello Frals, I just updated to the newest version. The scrolling is not working for me right now. And all of my mms appear to have to same name of one sender just like back then :-? I dont know if anybody have the same problem with me???? But over all, I love the new UI :D

Have also the new version before I had the problem with no start fmms. But now I can send mms but I cannot receive mms. I receive push message and then is the inbox empty also old mms are not in the inbox.

Has anyone managed to get this to work on 3 uk? (Sorry have tried searching the thread for "three" and "3 uk" but didn't get any results)

By the way, in the wiki

But I have checked the setting on my old N97 and there it is

Don't know if that is of any significance.

Anyway I have tried with both, and I get the message

"Error 110 Connection timed out"



Another problem I have been having is that in normal use (ie without my having fMMS open) sometimes the phone tries to use the "3 MMS" access point I've created to connect to the internet (instead of the correct "3" access point).

Does anyone else have this, or is there anything I can do about it?

Well yeah, in the previous version, the scrolling was working fine as i remember. And right now, after i press open on mms i would have to wait about 10 seconds before i can open another one, in that period, Fmms would not allow me to press any button before that. And one more thing how can i do the /tmp/fmms.log :D

I just wanted to say I'm new to the community and recently installed v0.3.2 and I love it. After following the recommended settings, it's working perfectly on my T-mobile USA account.

That being said, I'm now upgrading to 0.3.4 - I'll give you my input after I use it a little bit.

Looks like i'm getting the same problem, BUT only after I set the image width to ABOVE 500. Funny thing is, it still sends it properly, despite the error message.

I can't get fmms/fapn to work correctly.
I have come as far as receiving incoming mms's, but I can't download them from server.

I have read countless forumthreads and done pretty much everything it seems, but I just can't pinpoint my problem.

I use swedish operator Telenor, and this is what I've done:

Installed fAPN and fMMS.
Ran fAPN and created new APN, named Telenor MMS.
Menu > settings > internet settings > connections > edit telenor mms:
Connection name: Telenor MMS.
Connection type: Packet data > next
Accesspoint name: services.telenor.se
Username: blank
Password: blank
Åtkomstpunktens namn services.telenor.se
Prompt password at every login: Not checked > next > advanced
Use proxy: Checked
HTTP-proxy 172.030.253.241
Portnumber 8799
The rest is left blank > save > finish


I have tried to download incoming mms's via my own wlan at home, telenor mobile surf and telenor mms that I created, but nothing seems to work.

What am I doing wrong? Help is much appreciated!

Hmm, do you have a really long list of messages? I *think* I might know what the issue is.

Open terminal; cp /tmp/fmms.log /home/user/MyDocs/
after that you can find the logfile in the file manager and can copy it to your desktop or attach it in an email directly from the device.

Testa byt ut proxyn till 172.30.253.241, om det inte funkar så skicka /tmp/fmms.log i ett mail till mig, <forumusername>@frals.se, instruktioner för hur du gör det hittar du högre upp i posten ;)

Enda som *bör* funka är att ladda ner via din Telenor MMS-anslutning :)

En grej bara.. Jag lyckades ju som sagt ta emot mms innan, eller ta emot en liten sak som sa att jag fått mms, men kunde inte öppna mmsen.. De har fortfarande samma ikon som innan, ett gult brev med en röd asterisk i övre högra hörnet, och jag lyckas fortfarande inte öppna dem.. När jag trycker på dem så säger programmet "fMMS: Trying to download mms..." och det visas i typ 3 sekunder ungefär, och sen försvinner det bara och inget mer händer.. Går det lösa?

Och av ren nyfikenhet.. Ändringen du bad mig göra.. 030 till bara 30.. Jag hittar inte sidorna jag gick efter innan o jag pallar inte leta för jag är sååååååå trött nu efter att ha hållt på så jävla länge med det^^ Läste jag fel, skulle det vart 30 från första början? Eller var det bara en variant som lyckligtvis fungerade bättre för mig? :P

Uh, check /tmp/fmms.log and paste what it says after you pressed that message :)

Basically somewhere along the line the urllib I use in python tries to do a DNS-lookup if it's e.g. .030. instead of parsing the whole string as an IP (I think...)

just a pic of my kids. taken from the n900 camera, 3.5mp widescreen
if i have the resize image width to like 300, i get that error. if i set it at like 200, the resizing pop up comes then disappears then nothing happens. no message sent or anything

0.3.6 uploaded to repos which should fix various issues people have been having (UTF8 decode errors for those reading the logfiles). Some minor other tweaks as well.

Please avoid 0.3.5 that I managed to uploaded, it's not working correctly :P

Thanks for a great app! I can send fine, but cannot receive. I am using TMobile USA. I never get any push notification or anything. I have had my recipients simply click the reply button then reply and I also had them try to send a new MMS to me and I never get anything. They can receive my MMS's to them fine though. In the future, please PM or email me the log contents as the page gets quite messy since it's a lot of output ;)

Seems like the push message never even reaches the phone, which indicates your operator doesn't send them to you.

To debug it further, you can kill any fmmsd that is running
(ps aux|grep fmmsd, then kill <number in first column>), start it manually: /opt/fmms/fmmsd.py and make sure its running successfully (it wont print anything, just an empty new line)
Open a new terminal and do: tail -f /tmp/fmms.log and then send yourself an MMS.

It should print something along the lines of:

If it doesn't, your carrier is probably not sending you any SMS Push messages, and you'd have to call them and ask if they are blocking incoming MMS for you or similiar. :)

OH YEAH FMMS WORKING!

I had been having problems with apn errors on at&t, and finally got a tech on the phone who knew what he was talking about. They still have my phone listed as a 1st gen iphone(which was like 4 phones ago!) in their systems back end. Of course the 1st gen iphone wasnt mms capable and the permissions werent set for mms. The tech set the permissions as a generic Sony Ericsson phone, and right away with the settings used in the wiki, FMMS worked like a charm.

I have a very annoying issue with fMMS gui.

The buttons to not show and are just flat black color. (it blends in with background)
Also, the font colors are black on black even in the default Nokia Blue theme.
I've tried now about 6 different themes on the N900. Pretty much every other app looks as it should. Buttons, fonts etc.
Only fMMS is like this. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling fMMS. Still same.

Any ideas?

No output. fMMS launches just fine. Yeah, it's really annoying and it's probably something which was done/installed on my phone. But if so, it's really weird how pretty much only fMMS is showing such symptom. I might just backup everything and reflash. But I really don't want to considering it's only happening in fMMS so far. Hmm.

Hi frals,

I'm having a problem after updating from 0.3.2-1 to 0.3.4-1, and update to 0.3.6-1 didn't help me either. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the program many times, deleted the database and mms folder manually, but it just wont start.
The program starts with the normal black screen saying fMMS at the top, it's loading about five seconds and then goes back to desktop.
The log in /tmp/fmms.log is empty. Is there any other log I could look at?

Launch it from the terminal and see if you get any error messages there (/opt/fmms/fmms_gui.py) :)

Hi frals,

There's a guy here who's sending SMS and they're arriving as mms (my guess is his APN is wring, but I could be completely wrong).

Anyway, it seemed like yo might be the person to talk to him - especially since he seems to have autosend sorted - just can't unsort it!

you will loose all messages this way but have you tried to uninstall and delete .fmms directory from your home directory and then reinstall?

I've uploaded 0.3.6-2 which should have the correct dependencies set, which *should* solve the problems people have been having with the application not starting. :)

Can't update, can't install after uninstall because of python-glade2(2.12.1-6maemo9)...

This is what it says:

Also tried uninstalling, deleting the whole directory, and reinstalling, but no help..

When I use fAPN to add an APN, it creates a "packet data" APN rather than GPRS.

And when I go to edit it in Settings>connectivity, the field where it says "Connection type: Packet Data" is not editable.

How do I make a GPRS APN??:confused:

You should probably upgrade python-glade2... http://maemo.org/packages/view/python-glade2/ ;)

Did you install 0.3.6-2? It should get the correct depenencies automatically know, I think. Either way - upgrade your python-hildon (apt-get update, apt-get upgrade - be ware the upgrade command might pull in something you dont want to upgrade, so use with caution).

hey frals i tried to uninstall fmms and install it again because it wasnt loading like mikes said... when i searched for it in repositories it wasnt there....
