I have this problem on Orange UK. The issue is that the MMS apn won't let me browse using microB or use witter, though I can read email. So if I'm on the 'wrong' connection, I'm stumped.

Can you tell me what you did? I'd really like to have this solved.

Thanks
K

I'll try :)

Once I got fMMS and fAPN installed and setup, I had 2 GPRS connections, the original "T-Mobile Internet" and "Tmo MMS". My N900 was defaulting to "Tmo MMS". I tried re-naming to "zTmo-MMS" no change. Renamed original to "zT-Mobile Internet", no change.

So I fired up fAPN and created a new APN "T-Mobile Internet2" and copied the correct settings to it. Unfortunately, that didn't work either. "Tmo MMS" was still the default APN. So I copied the "Tmo MMS" settings to "T-Mobile Internet2", then copied the "T-Mobile Internet" settings to "Tmo MMS". I just switched the settings.

My N900 still defaulted to "Tmo MMS" but now it connected to the internet properly. So far so good. I then re-named "Tmo MMS" to "T-Mobile Internet1" and re-named "T-Mobile Internet2" to "Tmo MMS".

Now my N900 defaults to "T-Mobile Internet1" (formerly "Tmo MMS") and connects up properly. Fired up fMMS and made sure it was pointing the new "Tmo MMS" (formerly "T-Mobile Internet2"). Presto, everything is working correctly.

*edit* I currently have 3 APN's: "T-Mobile Internet" (original), "T-Mobile Internet2", and "Tmo MMS".

@frals On a side note, when using fAPN to create "T-Mobile Internet2", it creates a gconf key of "T", when then trying to create a new "T-Mobile MMS", it just renamed the earlier created APN. In other words fAPN (or the N900) ignores everthing after the "-" for naming. That was 3 reboots and 6 name changes to figure out.

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

enabled autoconnect, received sms push, clicked that and it started to fetch the mms. this went on for about a minute, then I got a notice about a new mms message, and waited for about 20 seconds. after this finally opened the picture/mms and for some reason it opened it many times. had to click back three times to get back to main menu.

Also using Saunalahti in Finland, and was connected to wifi.

And one last edit: Noticed that the time shown in main menu next to message is 2 hours in the past for some reason. Should've shown 22:53 and shows 20:53

yeah, me too....didn`t work with 3.However, the 3 MMS settings on my 5800 are slightly different from wiki

http://mms.um.three.co.uk/mmsc (this is what wiki has)

http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc (this is what my 5800 has for the 3 MMS settings)

Both don`t work. They give me different errors

Please post error messages (/tmp/fmms.log) when reporting errors otherwise there is little chance I (or anyone else) can diagnose what's wrong.

Thank you!

Yup exactly the same for me; checked the settings on my N97 and they were as you describe. Still didn't work with either though.

(I mentioned this a couple of pages back actually)

There is only *one* APN really needed for T-Mobile UK to make both general internet and fMMS working. See here: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=557

Really impressed. works sending from myself to myself. tmobile usa using epc.tmobile.com and the other settings in the wiki. checked the proxy button using the same connection to browse the internet. thank you frals for all your effort and diligence. give this man a five. dont have fapn installed either. just fmms. now if we could delete multiple messages at once or get the photo sharing thing to pop up so we dont have to use the fmms settings. i set my number to +17738160699. i havent tried to send to other people as it is 5:16am in chicago. will report back when the body lets me. i can send text with the photo. not complaining about those features either. just would be hot to have them. dont know the buttons for screenshots or else i would post. p.s. dont feel like pressing all the buttons. on my n900 now.

Thanks for the tip. That's great for the UK users. Makes their lives easier. I'm in the US though.

Yesterday I re-setup everything, perhaps a little simpler. I deleted all but the default APN then:

1) Copied down my internet and mms settings.
2) Used fAPN to add 2 new APN (APN1, APN2).
3) Put internet settings in both new APN's
4) Brought up a web link to see which APN my N900 defaulted to.
5) Changed the other APN to MMS settings.
6) Renamed to Internet and MMS as needed.
7) Changed fMMS to use MMS APN.

Worked great. I figured why fight my N900. Let it decide which APN it wanted as default, then put the settings I wanted in that APN. Everyone (me and my N900) are happy.

Yeah, I can see "Ohio" at your profile, yet I wasn't sure tough, as you initially responded to post regarding UK settings. :)

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Using fMMS on 3 UK network

Ok, for some reason I have now got this working.

Anyway, the correct setting for MMSC is

http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc

I have changed it in the Wiki.

Filling in and then greying out the "use proxy" fields in the "3" APN seems to work fine; you don't need to make a new "3 MMS" APN.

(Using version fMMS 0.3.6)

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Ive just done the proxy trick on t-mobile :)

Seems to work although its still doing the send send send send....... timeout then *message recieved* on the other device.

I managed to receive one mms and now cant receive any others so must have been a fluke.

Glad it worked for you. No idea how the N900 decides on the default APN.

Dear frals,
I just found a way to correct my fmms. it seemed that the problem does not response well with special symbol such as "*" ":" in contact name. So i rename a few of my contact name and it worked smoothly again :D
Thanks thanks

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

I don't have any errors reported by my fMMS and I'm using it with the T-Mobile USA settings (created a T-moMMS access point with the proxy suggested in the wiki).

I can receive MMS messages from other T-Mobile and AT&T users, but so far, only other T-Mobile users have been able to receive my picture messages. My friend on AT&T sees the text on my incoming MMS to him, but not the attached image. If I send an image to him with no text attached, he gets nothing.

Has anyone else on T-Mobile USA seen this?

optimistprime 2010-02-18 18:00

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

yeah i was sending pics to a friend thats on T-Mo, I'm on AT&T. She gets the alert but there is nothing there. everybody else get them no problem on tmo. she has a blackberry, maybe there is a problem there, resizing or the way tmo accepts or delivers them.

cddiede 2010-02-18 18:46

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Yeah, now that you mention it, my friend on AT&T who can't see my pic attachments over MMS is on a BlackBerry.

It might not be a network issue, but a Blackberry message tool issue.

Can anyone confirm that someone on a blackberry received a picture message sent from fMMS?

lemmyslender 2010-02-18 18:59

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Speaking of T-Mo US, my test MMS's have only been charged as data (as far as I can tell). I don't have a texting plan, so I assumed they would show up under messaging and I'd get charged for them.

Also, this morning it appears my N900 decided to revert back to my MMS APN. I switched settings and renamed. I'll do some more testing tonight.

cddiede 2010-02-18 19:51

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

You should get charged by T-Mobile USA for every MMS message that routes as such through their MMS proxy (for those of use who have to use the proxy).

For my N900 on T-Mobile USA (Washington DC), I have to use the proxy as the standard T-Mobile internet access point won't transmit MMS messages from fMMS. So I expect to see MMS charges on my bill for each send/receive.

It's possible if you are able to MMS through your default T-Mobile Internet access point (that would be wap.voicestream.com or internet2.t-mobile.com without a proxy) then I guess it would just show up as data and charged as such.

Since we're talking about it, I noticed that I can web browse and email just fine on T-Mobile USA 3G and EDGE using my Proxy enabled T-MoMMS access point.

Is there any noticed badness to using the MMS access point full time instead of the default T-Mobile internet one, cause I haven't seen any ill-effects yet.

lemmyslender 2010-02-18 21:10

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Well my internet access ($10 Unlimited Web on EM+ 500min plan) is through internet2.voicestream.com. MMS is per wiki using wap.voicestream.com w/ proxy settings.

If I turn off the proxy on wap, I get an upgrade notice. MMS won't go through on internet2 w/ proxy.

The MMS don't show up in messaging, but it does show data used at about the right times (on my recent usage online). I expect they will charge me, but it would be cool to get "free" MMS through my data.

You need to manually connect to your MMS access point to send or download MMS messages with the fMMS application, but even if you aren't connected to any access point at all, you still get SMS push notification that a new MMS message is waiting for you to download which is pretty awesome.
