Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

I use t-mobile in usa and I created a new apn and everything works okay. I get the mms push message. I see the new mms message in my fmms inbox but when i push the message it says trying to download but then it just disappears and nothing happens. I dont know what I can do to see the picture because it doesnt open. By the way I connect to mms apn and I configured the program correctly.

Thanks for the great app frals!

Is there plans to integrate the "Subject" field when sending mms?

I've also tested the autoconnect feature. Is it normal that the sending and receiv takes longer time compared to manual connection?

I also noticed this (not that I'm in a hurry). At first I didn't think it was working.

Subject field is autopopulated from the message (10 first chars, if any). Basically it's to avoid the clutter in the UI and its not often people actually pay attention to the Subjectfield in MMS from what I've gathered ;)

Yes, it takes longer as it have to setup the connection as well as do a few dns lookups to get the routes in order :)

frals, you probably know this but ill mention it on the off chance you dont?

my default connect is via my home wireless router. if connected via the router mms dont come through, but if i switch back to gprs then mms come through.

might be an easy fix for a later release ive no idea

cheers

to get mms u need to use gprs/3G connection as it directed via network, you cannot use fmms with wifi or any mms service

yeah i know but what im saying is the program fmms does look/connect to gprs its self. i have to select gprs.

so if im connected to wifi fmms will not receive any mms.
just a thought anyway

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

First of all a huge Thanks to frals for the work you have done for us! fmms is already great and it seems to getting better by every new release. I've been following the progress in the background but hadn't found the time to try it out before 0.50. I have to say I'm impressed with the maturity of fmms! Finally my friends can send those really important pictures of a cold beer in the middle of a work day :)

I'd like to continue a bit on this though. The way fmms uses the 10 first letters as a subject is ok but as my wife has an iPhone I just noticed that there a received MMS then looks a bit funny at least when the message is short. On the first line is the headline (e.g. "Have you s") and the next line is the received picture and the next line has the message which starts with the same "Have you s...". Not a biggie and works propably better than an empty headline but I thought I'd mention it.

And then another thing metallimake also mentioned. Autoconnect. I must a bit slow but I'm not able to find such a feature from my fmms! Could you help out here? How can I try the autoconnect feature? I'm using Saunalahti in Finland if that matters...

gconftool-2 --set /apps/fmms/exp --type int 1

should do the trick, and to disable it replace the 1 with a 0 ;)

EDIT: NOTE: this feature is REALLY experimental, and it might get you weird routes, occupying all the gprs connections and what not - a reboot should clear it in most cases thou (or a simple ifconfig gprs<N> down) in my experience... ;)

(that was 10 pages back so I don't expect people to find it anymore... Maybe time to recreate the thread with a proper first post :p)
;) Thanks for testing! :)

For the people having issues, please, for the love of god, attach the logfile or I have no way of knowing what the problem is (as I said in the first post of the thread) :( Instructions are in my signature, my email is all over my posts in this thread. Thanks! ;)

Hi Guys

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to frals for fMMS.

It is working seemlessly for me on Vodafone UK. Also, as well as images, I have been able to send and receive audio attachments that are playable direct from message. I was just wondering if there is a list of which audio file formats are compatible?

Cheers

Jack

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

OK I know how to search threads and all but there are 90 pages for this particular subject. I guess what I want to know is what page will I find the best post on how to accurately set this up for T-Mobile?

Or are the instructions explained throughout many pages and many different responses and trials? Is there one post that explains how to set it all up which have been working for the majority of the people?

I'm on T-Mobile USA. I really don't have time to read through 90 pages so if someone could just give me the page number that would be much appreciated. This question is for those who have been frequenting this thread daily.

Thanks guys.

Put it where you specify the proxy for the APN. :) (Menu -> Settings -> Internet Connections -> etc)

@wizbowes: You probably have to talk to your operator and tell them you got a MMS capable phone now ;-)

Unsure how to get the log file? See my signature!

Thanks for testing! :)

Side note: 0.5.1 uploaded, some minor tweaks... Among other things the viewer now resizes the images so you have to open them in the image viewer to show the fullsize image.

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Hi,

I'm trying to set this up for Singtel in Singapore. I have the following settings:

Code:

Singapore
Singtel

Connection Name: IDEAS MMS
Connection Type: Packet Data
Access Point Name: e-ideas
User Name: 65IDEAS
Password: eideas
Use Proxy: Yes
HTTP Proxy: 165.21.42.84
Port number: 8080 (?)
MMSC: http://mms.singtel.com:10021/mmsc
Resize image: 300
Phone Number: (Your Phone Number)

When I send an MMS, I briefly get the following message displayed in fMMS:

Code:

MMSC REPLIED:404_Not Found
BODY:<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>404 Not Found</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<H1>Not Found</H1>
The requested URL / was not found on this server.<p>
</BODY>
</HTML>

Is it my MMSC setting that is wrong? Should I be able to access that page directly through my browser? I am not...

The newest version finally fixed the issue sending pictures to Blackberry phones. Thanks for all the support you have given all of us users. Great job.

Next step would be to try and integrate a function where we can send a mms from the address book directly. guess I am asking for too much. we can dream though.

Have you started the application? It's created on first successful start. What is the problem with the application? :)

Most likely wrong settings, but please send me the logfile after you tried to send an MMS. Instructions in my signature :)

@fsantiago36: Thanks for confirming it works! :)

Also, there is a bug in 0.5.2 where after returning from sender the application will close, I'll have that fixed in the next version :p

EDIT: Fixed in 0.5.3-2 which should be in repos now

Hmm.. I still have a problem with Telenor (Norway). I can receive a mms, but cannot send. It shows me "message sent", but the receiver never got it..
I used FAQ to setup MMS for Telenor.

Sorry if this was Asked before ...

But when i "receive" a file.. it's damn "small" 240x200 if i remember correctly !

I tried, sending myself a MMS, received it uber small .. And to a buddy ( same file ) He received normale size (640) ?! KPN Hi netherlands..

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Could be your operator resizing it.

Since 0.5.x something the viewer resizes the image in the window so it fits on the screen, if you tap-and-hold on it you get the option to open it in the image viewer where you can zoom and see details etc

Could be your operator resizing it.

Since 0.5.x something the viewer resizes the image in the window so it fits on the screen, if you tap-and-hold on it you get the option to open it in the image viewer where you can zoom and see details etc

nice update frals, could you make a nicer open button when you click and hold image, the one currently looks out of place lol
