Any chance that precise Telenor settings for Denmark can be added?
Here: http://wiki.maemo.org/MMS#Denmark
I think I have tried at least 25 different alternatives, but none of them seem to make it possible to download MMS using fMMS :-(

I am sure the fMMS and fAPN work fine, but...

phone will connect to the last gprs connection, so run your main gprs connection, next time a app needs a connection the last gprs is 1st one

I tried different MMSC, also different port at internet connection settings, but same result.

Hi,

there seems to be a problem opening GIF images, which is anoying since the german "Deutsche Bahn" sends their online tickets in this format.

A problem with (animated) GIF was reported once before in this thread.

I created a bug report. You can find it here:
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9617

Thanks everyone for the bug reports etc, got quite a list to get through now as I've not had time to work on fMMS the last few weeks with exams and stuff.

I'm currently looking into if it's feasible to translate it to C, which would mean faster and contacts lookup working like it should... No promises, but I'm looking at it ;)

Great app, it's working perfectly for me !

Maybe it was already asked, but would it be possible to have the choice to send a picture that you just took in the menu "share" ?

something like :

Send by bluetooth Share with service
Send by mail Send by MMS

thanx a lot :)

frals 2010-03-22 21:22

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Press "Share via service" and you have MMS there :) - no way to add it directly to the dialog as it's closed source and Nokia maintained.

Frals did a great job. Hell, I did not even expect to get MMS on Rover/RX-51/N900 anytime soon and within months he cobbled together a very workable solution.

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Well, I finally reached the end of testing MMS to my siblings in Ireland - from T-Mobile US.

No go. I get "MMSC RESPONDED: {'Response-Text': 'Recipient address not resolved', 'MMS-Version': '1.0', 'Response-Status': 'Error-unspecified', 'Message-ID': 'g6b4g41s1j9s8116@w.tmomail.net'}" in the log file.

I bought a T-Mobile-branded phone (a little Samsung flip-phone) to test it out (after my N73 couldn't send an MMS to Ireland either). Still no go.

The response from T-Mobile support (all the way to engineering) is that they have no agreement with Vodafone in Ireland for "data services". Into which, MMS seems to fall (SMS and voice - no problem).

So, Frals, kudos to you for the application. It works great for me here in the US. It might even work to/from some carriers in Europe. But my current operator is in the way regarding my main transatlantic use case. The service guy passed on the message from engineering about frequency differences between my carrier and Vodafone in Ireland. I explained that AT&T is no less different and my brother on the East coast has no such restriction.

So, it's a business restriction not a technology one. :(

One thing you could do is to set the resize to 300 ( in dk there is a limit on sending mms )

It is important that you disconnect the internet ( wireless, 3g internet ) before connecting the mms apn and then it should work.
if not then please write down the error it gives you.

FYI :

I have added a "Troubleshooting fmms" section in the WIKI, if you feel you have stumbled upon problems that may be common to other users installing / using fmms, please share them in the wiki.

Eitam.

Edit : Wanted to say thx to the author of this app, for this app,
It's working really great considering it's kinda 3rd party, and really give me what I need for my usual MMS needs, already used it today to cheer up my GF who is sick at home.

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Hi !

I had noticed a very strange behavior of fmms, until :

If you set the resize width HIGHER than 640, the image gets actually smaller than it should. Example :

With Resize withd : 640 , size of the sent image is : 640, 48kb

With Resize withd : 800 , size of the sent image is : 500, 22kb

and so on...

How it is possible ? Something wrong with the resize routine ?

Many Thanks for any response,

Andrew

You could try to remove opening zeros in the IP adress (change to 212.88.64.8). This helped someone earlier in this thread.

Hope this helps.

/oxpo

edit: Also change the "resize image" to 300 (that isn't the problem, but you will probably have to not have it set to zero when sending an MMS /edit

Hi !

One more question hoping somebody might can help.

After I had insatlled Fmms, I installed fmms sharing plugin. But I dont like sharing plugin, I wanted to uninstall.

I can not as it is depending packages on fmms.
So I uninstalled both.

PROBLEM :

When I install fmms again, as I like that, it is automaticall install fmms sharing plugin as well, while I do not want that to be installed.

Could somebody help me please how can i remove the fmms sharing plugin completely and keep only fmms ?

Many Thanks fror any help,

Andrew

Finally installed and configured mms and literally about an hour after I got it working, my wife sent me a couple of mms images even after I had told her my N900 wasn't set up to get them lol. Really nice to have another reason why I am sure I made the right choice with the N900.

There isn't any chance of just not using the plugin? :D I can't find any way to not install the plugin, and no way to just uninstall the plugin, but no-one forces you to use it.

You caught me. Well, I am a bloody minimalist and I hate leaving rubbish on the unit. While fmms working like charm, the sharing plug-in NOT.

Can you help me to fix that ? Problem in detail :

For some reason, when I am usign the fmms sharing plugin, does not matter with what size I am selecting, either of these 2 result happen :

A., just start to resize process and never finish, I even waited one time for 20 minutes...

B., it looks normal, message sent, but the received message is EMPTY, no attachment on it.

Important to mention, when I am using only fmms without the plugin, everything is perfect, except the issue I mentioned 4 post before :

when resize width value is HIGHER than 640, the image gets actually smaller than it should. Example :

With Resize withd : 640 , size of the sent image is : 640, 48kb
With Resize withd : 800 , size of the sent image is : 500, 22kb
and so on...

Could you help me to fix these problems, at least to mage the sharing plug-in working just as fmms ?

Many many many thanks for your time, and help in advance,

Andrew

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Need help... I have installed both fAPN and fMMS, configured the new APN exactly as per the Wiki, configured fMMS as per the Wiki, checked the settings, double checked the settings, there are no zero's to remove in the IP, and yet it still wont connect to the server..... Confused.com....?

I'm on contract Vodafone UK.... If that helps at all....

If anyone has additional pointers as to what *could* be wrong they would be very gratefully received!

Hi !

A quick question if maybe someone can help.

TO be ale to use fFMMS, I had to create an MMS apn. thats clear.

Also, as bse, I have an other mobile connection for the normal internet.

MY PROBLEM :

Since I had beencraeted MMS APN, Maemo always wants to use this new internet connection instead of the basic one, and MMS apn logically, can not be used for interet.

How can I prioratize which one should we used if available ? I know it is posibble with Wifi over mobile internet, but how can I prioratze between the 2 mobile internet ?

Many thanks for any help,

Andrew
