Make sure you haven't rebooted the device since you got the error in fMMS - the folder where the log file is saved is cleared on device reboot. :)

The command to type in the terminal is:
cp /tmp/fmms.log /home/user/MyDocs/
Note: SPACE between "cp" and "/tmp/fmms.log" as well as between "/tmp/fmms.log" and "/home/user/MyDocs/"

could some one do a quick comand tutorial for installing deb files. i only did it once and that was when i installed sygic but i don't remember the comands. I would love to upgrade to the lattest version of fmms but i don't see it in the repo. it is however in the garage but it looks like deb files. so which ones do i need to download and how to install in x terminal?

it's tough trying to keep up with you techies but i want in to the fraternity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant quit. just hope i dont get on every ones nerves

Hi.

I can't get it to work with Vodafone Romania (Vodafone RO).
I tried all kinds of wizardry, I still get error -2 (unknown name).

I have configured a MMS access point manually and it finally connects (I even get an IP), and it has no Internet access, which kind of makes sense.

I also configured fMMS settings to the best of my ability from the page above, but no dice.

Connection settings for AP:
* mms.vodafone.ro
* mms
* vodafone
(change any of these and it fails)

I also tried 193.230.161.231:9201 as proxy but when I do I get a ECONNREFUSED.

I think fMMS should have:
* APN: MMS
* MMSC: http://multimedia/servlets/mms
* Phone Number (+40etc)
* Image: 100
* Polite

What little I understand of WAP means that it doesn't really matter if the server has open TCP ports.
However, shouldn't "multimedia" resolve to an IP? Isn't WAP over IP?
Anything I can do to diagnose the issue?

Click on "fmms_0.7.0_all.deb" on this site https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_id=1210 on your n900. If you have the latest FW it will start application-manager and let you install it.

i have the latest fmms and if i open it send a pic then close the app, it wont let me reopen it. i have to restart the phone.

is this a known bug?

Just FYI: I updated to 0.7 from the garage and fMMS failed to load everytime I clicked the icon.

A simple reset of the N900 fixed it and fMMS works perfectly now.

Unfortunately frals, I didn't get the log for you before I reset.

Thanks for all your hardwork. A little suggestion dont know if this is a stupid suggestion but here it is;
when I receive a picture messages I get that push sms notification and upon clicking on that fmms app opens and starts to download the msg. How hard or is it even possible where; when that push sms comes in user doesnot get notified but fmms catches that and starts to download on background and when the message has been downloaded only then there will a notification saying new message?
By the way I have send you that log file using the havoc mode and for now I am using the rude mode which is working solid as a brick. but every once in a while I get that where after sending a mms I cannot open the app but once I reboot the phone it opens, when I get that again I will send you the log file.

Yes, 'multimedia' should resolve to an IP, otherwise something is wrong with the settings most likely. You could try to manually connect to the MMS APN, then try to open the MMSC url in your browser which should give you an indication if all your settings are correct at least :)



Assuming you used 0.6.1, this is correct, it's fixed since 0.6.2 :)

Uh, yeah, this err... "feature" has been there all along actually, I'll see if I can do some trickery to fix it but it's a low priority :)

I assume this was because you upgrade from 0.6.1 which had left a fmms running in the background, if you do manage to reproduce please let me know :)

Well, in the later versions you don't have to click the SMS Push notification, depending on connection mode it will download it automagically - the reason the SMS Push notification is shown is to make sure you (the user) is notified there is an MMS waiting if the fetch fails. I'll see if I can wait with showing the SMS Push notification until the MMS fetching fails or something like that, but it's pretty low priority for now :)

In havoc mode sending mms took about 1 minute.
Is this normal?

Notification (yellow label) said resizing image and it was there about 1 minute. Is it really resizing or sending or both?

After looking log file it looks like it took 1 minute on doing "connect mms apn" ->"message seems to have sent AOK!". So it didn't resize so long as notification told me, but it was actually sending/connecting APN. Maybe something to add/change. Actually resizing took couple of seconds :) if log file is correct.

hello

this app work fine, overall since 0.7 cause it retrieves my contacts names and pictures : GOOD

however, there is something boring : when i'm receiving a MMS, i first see a FMMS notification, and some seconds aftern another but with an email icon .... WTF ?!!?? Is it a bug, and how can i turn this off please ?

0.7 works great, except that the timestamp on messages is two hours off, probably UTC-time. I'm in Sweden so I'm +2 hours from UTC now in summer.

I noticed this too, in the inbox. But when I look at an mms it has the right time.


One other thing I noticed with ver 0.7:

When I tried to use the sharing plugin I couldn't use adressbook to add phone#. When I press "To" I get "Choose a contact" but it says (no contacts).

I'll send a log to you (don't know if anything will show up there about this).

Yeah, I should probably change the notification to indicate it's sending as well... As it waits for the new connection to get up and doing some other magic 1 minute sounds about right. :)

I have fMMS up and running (needed some reboots after changing settings, it seems), but have one problem:
I can't delete messages. Clicking "Yes" after I choose to delete doesn't do anything, and neither does "No".

Delete from inbox. Long-press the message you want to delete, and choose "Delete".

It's a known issue with ver 0.7. frals is looking in to it.

Not sure if this has been discussed already (quick search for "fmms message duplicate" yielded no results), but...

...a bug I've found a while ago continues to occur. As I thought it would go away with other versions, I never mentioned it, but I suppose I should have.

I have a list of a few MMS messages (maybe 12-15), and usually when I scroll down, the message details that are shown (contact, subject, date/time) are fine. However, when I scroll back up, the messages that are there change their contact, subect, and date/time to match one of the messages from below. The message is still the same when opened, but just the headers get tweaked. So it's not a HUGE deal, just some simple bug. Maybe it's just mine.

Again, if this has been discussed already, I'm apologize. Also, my apologies if the bug isn't explained in the best detail, and later when I get home I'll try to provide some example screenshots. All in all, excellent program, Frals; I truly appreciate your efforts, as I use MMS frequently. Thanks!

Gracias partner. a lil scared to upgrade to latest firmware. ya see. it took me several grooling hrs to install sygic on my phone and i would hate to have to re live that proccess unless its really really worth it. ie: pr 1.2 maybe? do u know of anyway i can back up my applications prior to downloading this update? if not i will wait untill new fw comes out and give fmms a break till then

I am in the united states and i don't knwo what state or city or providence or what ever "NZ" is but ehre are some settings for Vodafone as well as almost what ever other question you could possibly have about fmms

Hi frals,

I've been testing 0.7 and currently I cannot get it to work again with Softbank Japan. The response from the MMSC is a forbidden message, so it could be my change for the User Agent being wrong. This is again probably my operator specific issue.

Anyway, the main point I want to raise is that the message gets added to the mms.db despite failing on the actual sending. I would suggest to check the response of the MMSC first and only then add the message to the mms.db if it's successful.
