Aldevil:

1. The N900 is not on the officially supported MMS device list, so when it tells your carrier's network that "hi, I'm an N900, wanna let me in?" the network checks that no, you have not been sent the MMS config but as the N900 is not on the officially supported devices' list, no message ever gets sent.

2. There's a handy app called fAPN in the repos for adding the necessary APN.

- the error message indicates that the name you have for your APN is not resolving to a IP address, bit it indicates that it is a temporay problem - so I don't know. I guess you have checked the APN name is valid and is correct for your supplier. You can check that the APN name resolves by using the command: ping 'your-apn-name..com'
both from a PC on the internet an also from your phone. It should resolve to an IP on both.

You can view your logs as per the instructions in "frals" signature:
i.e. Run in x-terminal: cp /tmp/fmms.log /home/user/MyDocs/
After that you'll see fmms.log in filemanager or when you connect the device to your desktop as a mass storage device.

I guess this is saying that the original full size image which you 'attached' has been deleted from the message, and replaced with the re-sized image <?>

Makes sense = the original image is still where and as it was, and the MMS message you retain only holds the re-sized image which is what your recipient sees.

I have one "problem" with this app. Nothing seems to relates to receiving and sending to mms though.

At the list where is sended and received mms messages i have one abnormalitie.

I sended two mms messages for two of my friends. So two first messages on the list are the sended messages and should be to my friend no.1 with his picture and to my friend no.2 with his picture and the right message information. RIght?

But for me ffms shows same receiver name, title and the time information for the first two messages, only receivers pictures are different. When i click the sended mms it opens mms with correct picture and information.

No promise it's a "real" Forward (not sure if it's suppose to include original binary mms or what not and not had time to read specs), but I'll see if I can make it launch a new sender with text + attachment pre-set. No promise when I'll have time to add it.



Hmm, interesting... I'll investigate some and see if I can manage to reproduce this (I've seen it at some point on my devices as well but it magically went away). If you scroll up and down the list (assuming it's long enough to do that), does it show the correct information?

Great, it was Vodafones fault then :) Basically that notification shouldnt appear once you sent/received an MMS properly but you never know with different operators.

Think the "File Attachment was deleted from message due to size limitation" is Vodafone doing something to the message as well, it's not fMMS at least. :-)

Nope the problem still exists after scrolling down and up several times. It also sometimes gives wrong name for the sender but that goes away with scrolling.

frals,

I sent a MMS to myself with version 0.9 and I got the MMS but I did not get a notification at all that it was recieved. I got a "Message Sent" notification and I waited and waited for the usual dual notification and when it didn't show up after a few minutes, I closed fMMS and reopened it, there was my MMS, complete with the 40 second MP3 audio. Since it didn't give any errors, I don't have a log file.

Thank you for your hardwork and congratulations on 1.0 being really close!

Uh, your whole device reboots? Just like that? I can find no reason whatsoever why it would do that... Can you launch it from x-term by typing /opt/fmms/fmms_gui.py and see if it still does that? And try to see if theres any output before it does, if it does...

Uh, interesting.. might been a freak error. Even though nothing went seriously bad there should still be a log in /tmp/fmms.log, if there is, could you PM me it or drop me an email? Thanks! :)

Works fine here. Some little things.

- After writing 5 rows of text (pressing enter) the view doesn't follow cursor.
- Even thought I haven't yet miss clicked send button,I think it's bit too close to back button. Here is some reading about usability:

Version 0.9.0 working great...been using the previous versions and this for few days and received video, pictures, and audio all all working great...only aditions which we need are:

1) Option for saving draft messages
2) Option for sending video's and audio aswell

This would be nice but not vital really:
3) Option for sending multiple items as you can with normal phones

2) Replay/Forward - OK

1) Sending message by Share via service to myself - waiting a 5-7 min for receiving this message.

2) Sending message by Share via service to other phone:

* to SE K610 - This phone receive message with broken image, I see the name of file "attachment-LZKBBV.jpeg". If I choose to save this file, after saving I can see the image. I don't know why, maybe because of suffix "jpeg" instead "jpg". If I send the same pic via regular way, this phone receive this pic without problem.

* to N85 - This phone receive 2 messages, one with text and one with attached file (pic), NOT directly the picture...

* to N82 - This phone receive my message perfectly !

Deleting of messages:

1) from main menu - OK

2) from message - OK

3) from this directory /home/user/.fmms/

* mms, push and sent - OK

* temp - I see ALL files I sent by Share via Service. This files "attachment-LZKBBV" without suffix.

Yes, it's cleared on reboot. :(

If you edit /opt/fmms/logger.conf where it says
args=('/tmp/fmms.log', 'a', 50000, 1)
to
args=('/home/user/fmms.log', 'a', 50000, 1)
it will survive a reboot and be saved in /home/user/ instead.

After a reboot like this could you please run cat /proc/bootreason to see why it rebooted. Thanks!

Hmpf, blame Nokias UI/UX people for telling me it's good to have it there... ;-)

2) Is already there, but you have to make sure the file sizes are fit for an MMS yourself (ie fMMS wont do any recoding). ;)
Rest are noted, draft is higher priority than multiple items which is far down the list I'm afraid.

Ok, I tested the 0.9.2

All functions seems Ok, but other phone not receive the messages, He receive message from operator about the messages I sent. I don't understand why... :confused: Maybe this problem at operator only. I'll try again after a few hours.

Just updated to 0.9.2

I sent an MMS to myself to test and noticed the following:

- Sent 2 MMS instead of just 1, one with my number as I entered it (02110277****) and the other in international format (+64210277****)......it also displayed its number as 0000000, but correctly but in international format within the MMS itself, where it says From.
I'm guessing fMMS was not sure how to handle a num ber with no international prefix, so it sent both....
We dont need both, and that prob cost twice as well I guess?

- I notice a whole new APN was made automatically when I updated.....does this mean fAPN is no longer requoired, nor the old APN I made manually for fMMS?

- I notice when sending an MMS, fMMS automatically disconnects the default APN, connects the MMS APN, sends/recieves MMS, then disconnects the MMS APN....but its not automatically reconnecting the default APN?

this program has been a godsend to all of the users who use this item.

I have to report that 0.9.2 downloads messages faster and also downloads while on wifi. big thanks to this feature i kept forgetting to connect to tmobile and turn off wifi whenever i got a message this helps alot.

one feature that i feel is broken though is the configuring of the APN within the program. I set it up and when I hit save it freezes and never saves.

I now get a message stating my APN is not setup when I try to send a message in this new version.

hopefully we will get an update soon that fixes the apn configure issue.

Uh, pretty sure fMMS only sends one message - are you sure one of them isn't the outgoing in fMMS or did you actually get _two_ separate groups of notification (total 4, 2 sms push + 2 mms received)?

Dear all. I just want to thank fral again for this great application.

I tried it here in Kuwait through provider "Zain" and it worked.

The settings I'm using for fAPN are as follows:

Access Point Name : pps
Username : mms
Password: mms

while for fmms configuration:

MMSC: http://mms.zain
Resize: 0

please note that Zain only allow 300 kB picture size for MMS.

OK I tested it again the v0.9.2. Now other phone can get my messages.

But "Share via service" is stopped working for me. It's not open fMMS app. I see in the status bar the "Sharing - waiting for connection" and nothing happens :( The version 0.9.0 worked perfect with this option...

But why it's can't read setting from fMMS (havoc mode) and connect automatically ? Is it possible ?
