I couldn't get it working with T-Mobile USA, then I realized what the problem was: I had defined my own DNS servers in my T-Mobile Internet access point. After I changed them to auto, it works! These are the settings I use in fMMS:

Access point name: wap.voicestream.com
Username:
Password:
Proxy: 216.155.165.50
Proxy port: 8080
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms

are you using a apn set up with fapn or are using the mms apn that comes automatically with the latest version of fmms

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

0.9.8 aka "really, the config dialog works now..." released!

Quote:

* list of choices instead of numerical input for resize
* doesnt force the usage of 'z_fMMS-APN', override by setting gconfkey manually
* only shows config dialog on first launch if settings fields arent populated
* only shows SMS PUSH notification if MMS download fails
* Forward works even if there is no attachment
* added some cgi.escape() for listview
* dialog asking if you want to disconnect when in polite mode and clicking a new mms in gui
* config dialog unsets proxy settings correctly now

Neither, I just use my normal T-Mobile Internet access point. I don't have fAPN and I don't see "MMS" access point anywhere. The info I put is what I entered into fMMS. I'm using havoc mode.

Is there a way to still change the resolution to a bigger size? I like using 1024 pixels, but your large is only 640. I would use original, but my original is over 2000.

A current workaround to get closer to my size is to use fMMS via service first. Get fMMS configuration to use Original size.

Choose your photos from maemo. Share via MMS service. Choose to resize to large, which will bring it to 1280 pixels. When fMMS sends it out, it sends out the maemo resized picture. fMMS itself will not do the resizing.

Here a MMS is limited to ~90K.

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Hello again,

Since 0.9.5 on I haven't been able to send or recieve any MMS. I am connected to Vodafone New Zealand and believe that I am setting up correctly.

VFNZ does not use a password or a proxy and auto retrieves IP address. In the APN configuration I can only enter an APN and MMSC the remainder of the fields are blank.

Connected to my computer, I cannot find any FMMS log?

The older versions worked perfectly for me as I directed FMMS toward the connection (VF MMS) that was sent to me by my provider.

gconftool-2 -s --type int /apps/fmms/img_resize_width 1024

There's no telling what happens to the configuration dialog when you do that though, but you should be fine, I hope ;)

Easy way to make sure you have all settings correctly is open first the "VF MMS" access point in "internet connections", go through all the settings and note em down, and then do the same for "MMS" and make sure they match :)

To get the log to show up you first need to run the following from the terminal (will the device is not plugged in via usb):
cp /tmp/fmms.log /home/user/MyDocs/

Works! Although, my MMS APN-Settings were wiped, but I think this was something else. Anyway, I configured it again and was able to send MMS without any problems.

Thanks frals!

Btw, quick question about image resizing: What possible implications would I encounter if I set it to "Large"? Well, other that my phonebill will be higher due to more data being transmitted? :)

Port (if required): 9201
Port (if required for HTTP handsets): 8080
Relay Server/ Messaging Server: http://mmstelenor or http://172.18.15.1

At another website these are:

TELENOR MMS SETTINGS FOR IPHONE:

•Passwordd : Telenor
•MMSC : http://mmstelenor
•MMSC Proxy : 172.18.19.11:8080
•MMS Max Message Size : leave blank

Hi,

Ok, for the first time fMMS works for me, thanks a lot !
However I have installed the "sharing plugin for fMMS" to be able to share photos from fMMS, but apparently it doesn't work at all. Is there something to configure somewhere for that ?

No trace of an actual send or receive being attempted there - please try to send yourself an MMS and wait for an hour or two, if it doesn't show up please send me the new log file to fmms@frals.se :)

The operator might not accept it for delivery, the receiver might not get it since it exceeds the 'standard' message size for an MMS... Or, everything is just fine. :) Not sure how your operator bills but mine only bills per MMS regardless of size :)

I opened a bug: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10001

Basically, there's nowhere I can see an option to share via MMS. Not even under "share via service" (I don't know the exact wording, my locale isn't english).
The only way it to launch fMMS, but the photo chooser isn't really usable when you have many photos.

Install and start the program fAPN. With this program it should be possible to delete the APN. Now you can uninstall fAPN...

i finally figured out how to remove the access point. in your terminal:

Code:

gconftool-2 -R /system/osso/connectivity/IPA | grep MMS
this should list the path of your MMS information

then run:

Code:

gconftool-2 --recursive-set /system/osso/connectivity/IPA/MMS
(or whatever the path was that you got from the above command)

that should remove it! i got rid of mine... it was buggin the hell outta me :P

Please @ frals and each other to help me about fmms. Vainly trying to make it to work. Do not go! Always report an error in the APN or faild ...
What should I do? I'm on T-mobile network in Montenegro.
I tried 100 combinations, I made over fapn new connection, called the "T-Mobile MMS" and then edit:
Connecting name: T-Mobile MMS
APN name: mms
user: 38267
pass: 38267

Proxy: 010.000.005.019
Proxy port: 8080

After that I opened fMMS and entered:

APN: mms
user: 38267
pss: 38267
proxy: 010.000.005.019
port: 8080
MMSC: http://192.168.180.100/servlets/mms
Number: my number
resize image width: small image
connection mode: I tried all 3 modes

Nothing ... I pray for help, further explanation, and the like, so I am disappointed because I can not use MMS still !

Thank's in advance for help !

I don't know what settings that are correct for your provider, but leave out starting zeros in IP adresses. (proxy: 10.0.5.19). I know people have had trouble when using starting zeros.

Hope this helps.

Quote:

* left aligned labels in config dialogs
* gtk related functions in controller separated
* fmmsd no longer imports gtk, roughly 50Â% decrease in memory footprint and no more wake ups due to gtk
* viewer/sender not imported in gui until needed, should give a bit faster launch
* removed unused imports throughout all files
* caching looked up numbers in main view
* removes leading zeroes from ip in proxy
