Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Has anyone got this working for Meteor Ireland? I found what I think are the correct settings in an iphone thread on boards.ie, but I get error 111 when I try to send.

I havn't tried this as I'm not on meteor but from the boards settings it should probably be

* Connection Name: Meteor MMS
* Connection Type: Packet Data
* Access Point Name: mms.mymeteor.ie
* User Name: my
* Password: mms
* Prompt password at every login: Unchecked
* Use Proxy: checked (yes)
* HTTP Proxy: 10.85.85.85
* Port Number: 8799

* MMSC: http://mms.mymeteor.ie
* Resize image: 300
* Phone Number: (Your Phone Number)

If that doesn't work also try with
* Password: wap

Thansks matrim, I had a typo in the port number. I got a 200 response this time, so now I shall have to wait and see if it went anywhere.

P.S. Webtexter kicks ***.

I called my provider and they confirmed my all numbers/names to fill in in all . I tried to use http proxy and also to leave empty. I connect manually to APN and I get an IP number as well so I`m online. Don`t know how to proceed...:confused:

Thanks

Could you start /opt/fmms/fmms_sender_ui.py from the terminal and attach the output after trying to send a message in a PM to me?

This (usually) means that you are not allowed to use this MMSC - most likely wrong settings or not MMS-enabled account.

Just to be sure, please attach the output after running /opt/fmms/fmms_sender_ui.py in a PM to me and I'll have a closer look at the error message

Thanks everyone for testing! I've mailed the bugzilla guys asking for a proper bugzilla, so hopefully we can use that soon(tm) ;)

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Maybe it's time for an APN public database that can give hints to fAPN. Then, fAPN can monitor Presence on the dbus and configure or reconfigure accordingly. How happy would a computer illiterate world travel be if they popped in a SIM card and didn't have to do anything to make fMMS work.

Are you connecting manually to the MMS APN before trying to send? As seen by the backtrace it fails with 'connection timed out' which means it can't connect to the MMSC in 20 seconds - can you ping that IP from the terminal?

Noticed when you are connecting with proxy you are using proxyport "0", which seems very unlikely to be correct ;)

Just type the whole line at once and it should start, or after you've changed directory to /opt/fmms; run: ./fmms_sender_ui.py

Hi,

/home/user # ping 85.129.88.82
PING 85.129.88.82 (85.129.88.82): 56 data bytes

Is that correct ?

frals 2010-01-18 21:42

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Does it return any response - i.e. returning the pings? Either way it seems like it can't connect to the MMSC, which is odd if you put in all the settings the carrier told you to. Afraid I can't do much more as the issue seems to be connectivity. :<

On a side note:
[2010-01-18 23:34:16] fmms 0.2.1-1 has been queued for loading into fremantle extras-devel repository

0.2.1:
* no longer breaking MMS-standards (I think)!
* confirm dialog on redownload as message might be gone
* should show all numbers available for a contact
* wappushhandler got some love, error handling and stuff
* fixed postinstall to only chmod if dir exists
0.1.12:
* correctly sends m-notifyresp-ind and m-acknowledge-ind when fetching the mms
* button to launch video/audio in the viewer should now launch the mediaplayer
* if the mimetype is unknown the button currently does nothing

Re: [Announce] fMMS for N900

Now I think I know more or less to set fmms up so I guess you are right refering the connections. I also asked others N900 owners here in Denmark but untill now nobody replied so I guess Im the only N900 owner on the Danish TDC Mobil company. I will revert if news come up and tell you.

Best wishes ;)

being open source - they don't have to go far to find it lol :) - was thinking the same thing - you are doing what nearly everyone has asked for (Ok, lots of people!) ....

What bugs me slightly is now you are doing so well, they will probably focus on other things, therefore not integrating it into maemo.

Not saying yours is not good, as it clearly is... just not fully integrated, and that would/could/should be good :) lol

Anyway, i feel I've dissed fmms! and that was not my intention!
sent 3 mms's today! w000p!

My hope is that now that frals has served this on a silver platter to Nokia, they can integrate this with much less difficulty.

I wonder if there is posibility to put some letters in contact list to find contact easier. For now u have to scroll down and I think it could be not comfortable when you have a lot of contacts.

Do you get the "SMS Push" notification? If not, kill any active fmmsd running (ps a|grep fmmsd, kill pid where pid = first column of the row where it says "python /opt/fmms/fmmsd.py" or something) and then run it manually in a terminal: /opt/fmms/fmmsd.py, send yourself an MMS and attach the output from the terminal in a PM to me.

I suspect your MMSC is doing this as fMMS currently does not send any "Capabilities" headers (not mandatory as far as I remember, have to read the specs again), hence it's being helpful and resizing it for you.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and for testing it :)

I'm assuming it worked previously?

Do you get the "MMS received" notification?

Since the SMS Push is received it's enough to do the following:
open terminal
enter: /opt/fmms/fmms_gui.py
-> long-click on the message in the ui and take "redownload"; afterwards please send all the output in the terminal in a PM to me (don't forget to scroll up/down as there's bound to be a lot of output). If it doesn't fit in a PM, feel free to email me instead.

I don't know what you mean MMSC doing this....i am talking about when people send me the image...it is being reduced to thumbnails size...basically useless. If it's MMSC's fault...how do you fix this?? I read a couple posts back someone have the same problem and was never answer. This is for Tmobile and the MMSC address is http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms Also sending image with size of 3.0MB to 5.0MB will not get through.

The MMSC is where the MMS is fetched from. Basically there is a protocol for a device to tell the MMSC what capabilities and limitations it has, e.g. max size of images, what types of files it can handle etc. As fMMS does NOT implement that protocol your MMSC has no idea, and apparently defaults to a very small image size. Mine does the opposite and sends me everything without touching it.

How to fix this? Supply a patch containing the MMSUAProf/UAProf code and I'll be happy to integrate it into fMMS :)
