Re: Overclock the N900?
PR 1.2 + version 34 are running just fine.
|
Re: Overclock the N900?
Running v34 ideal + PR1.2.. Everything is running smooth, and fine. Reflashed firmware and new emmc image before installing kernel-power.
|
Re: Overclock the N900?
I just had a couple of video calls, and rebooted quite a ways into the call. I think this might be because I'm using the starving settings. I'll try switching to ideal and see if that makes a difference. I'm running the latest kernel. I haven't had any other problems at all.

Re: Overclock the N900?
@D-Iivil: are you sure it wasn't the tracker running in the background that happened to finish its task or was stopped when you reverted to v27? talking abt the thumbnailer daemon
|
Re: Overclock the N900?
after installing the v36, everything is fine, though
i ran apt-get autoremove to clean up rootfs. the last line says: 0 upgraded. 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 27 not upgraded what the hell is this? |
Re: Overclock the N900?
Im running on PR1.2 with the v34 kernel in ideal. Range is 500 1000.
I noticed that the device is getting hotter than with PR1.1. Battery temp is 50°C when CPU is 100% for 3 minutes. (cat /sys/class/power_supply/bq27200-0/temp) |
Re: Overclock the N900?
Why I can't see my battery temp ? "No such file or directory"
|
Re: Overclock the N900?
@ NokiaRocks
Start xterminal and enter this root modprobe bq27x00_battery cat /sys/class/power_supply/bq27200-0/temp Copied this from http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power (Section Battery) Edit: I placed a "Desktop Command Execution Widget" with this on my desktop to constantly monitor the battery temp. There is no exact CPU temp command I think, so I use this to measure the temp since the battery is near the CPU. The CPU temp must be much higher. Edit2: What's the difference between v34 and v36? |
Re: Overclock the N900?
just installed the v36
for now all is going well |
Re: Overclock the N900?
@Mr. Incredible : Still the same error :(

If you want it to be permanent you first need to install "module-init-tools" and then "echo bq27x00_battery >> /etc/modules" as root. Then it will load automatically at boot. |
Re: Overclock the N900?
What is the most stable Titan kernel version for 1.2? I used for a while v28 on 1.1.1 now with the ULV profile and had no issues. I re-flash my phone currently to cleanup all the mess and would like to overclock it again.

Re: Overclock the N900?
v37 is working great!, it makes my n900 20% more snappy than previous versions. (it maybe just me)

Re: Overclock the N900?
I know it's been asked quite a few times on this thread. But just to confirm, what's the best way to avoid the o'c frequencies going back to min 125 after using the phone app. I want to use the ideal profile.

Re: Overclock the N900?
Hello everybody,
I have been reading the wikis and the forum, and spurred by that I overclocked. I increased the frequency slowly to 1Ghz and there seemed to be no problem. But now I tried to run a video and it wont play. The mediaplayer says that it's unsupportted video format and KMplayer runs it for a second and jumps back to GUI. When I go back to stock videos run normally. I tried 850 and 700 Mhz and no luck. Is my N900 unoverclockable? Thanks I tried the search but the thread is too vast... |

Re: Overclock the N900?
good morning. last night I uploaded v37 as the installation via HAM was definitely broken (due to the new system-update flag).
I decided to fix this and make v37 as similar as possible to v27, the version which seemed to be most stable before I added new builtin features (IP multitables, MMC bouncing) in v28 and later. As soon as I get PR1.2 OTA access today (?) I can test whether it is possible to upgrade without deinstalling kernel-power. |

Re: Overclock the N900?
@HugoSon: yes, I noticed improved snappiness too but I had also moved back some relocated directories from /home to rootfs (using unmoveroot.sh). not sure whether it is due to the kernel.
It may be possible to upgrade to PR1.2 without deinstalling kernel-power. Are there any volunteers from UK (i.e. with OTA access) who could test whether it works? Warning: make a backup before PR upgrades and be prepared to reflash! After the installation you would only need to run Code:
apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher |
Re: Overclock the N900?
Sorry, I was some time away from the overclocking thread.
On PR1.1 I had Letho's 900mhz Kernel installed. Now on PR1.2 I've installed the enhanced linux kernel. it is overclocked by default? |
Re: Overclock the N900?
v37 seems to work for me also :)
|
Re: Overclock the N900?
With PR 1.2 and latest Titan Kernels Smart Reflex didnt work.
With PR 1.1 worked for weeks stable till 750 mhz. With Pr 1.2 i have reboots when screen gets off and device try to go to standby, on full power and normal use no problem. Dont know is this is Pr 1.2 related or Kernel? |
Re: Overclock the N900?
which version? do you undervolt?

Re: Overclock the N900?
I've installed conky and it is still running at 600mhz.
How do I overclock now? Sorry again. I'm sure it was answered before. I just wasn't here for a long time.. edit: nevermind. found it... wiki is your friend^^ |
Re: Overclock the N900?
What do you think is better for battery life - scaling starting at 250, 500 or 600?
Im trying XLV 250-950 and 600-1100 ... and Im not sure yet ... |
Re: Overclock the N900?
good news. deinstallation prior to upgrading to PR1.2 doesnt seem to be necessary.
http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power#U...ng_to_a_new_PR my OTA upgrade went off without a hitch and I'm running v37 on PR1.2 now. I decided to promote v37 to testing as there were too many problems with earlier versions. Please test it (http://wiki.maemo.org/Help_testing_software) and then vote on https://maemo.org/packages/package_i....6.28-maemo37/ Thanks |
Re: Overclock the N900?
I have been using Lehtos kernels before so spare with me. :)
I tried this from jakimans guide: sudo gainroot kernel-config load ideal kernel-config limits 250 750 Only thing i get is kernel-confic: not found |
Re: Overclock the N900?
@titan,
i already upgraded to the pr 1.2 yesterday via flasher with your kernels installed. (no uninstalled apps) the extra snappy effect is awesome! and in addition, it only takes less than 5 secs for the app manager to cooldown after installation/update of app. (before, it took 40secs before the app manager stops loading after an app is installed/updated, i was on the leaked FW that time). i do not know if that change is on v37 or the official FW. UPDATE: i can now multi task without lags or hangs even with the HAM is running for updates. |
Re: Overclock the N900?
@ titan
I too upgraded to the pr 1.2 yesterday via flasher with your kernels installed. (no uninstalled apps) and I can say that my N900 is really fast. I haven't tried the app manager to cooldown after installation/update of app yet. If I ever meet titan, I'll buy him a beer or two. :) |
Re: Overclock the N900?
Hi folks,
Am a bit of a newbie when it comes to overclocking but i have have installed V28. Everything looks ok apart from when i reboot it goes back to orriginal settings. I have done the following: installed pr 1.2 then installed the Enhanced Linux kernel for power users v2.6.28-maemo24. then i installed rootsh opened x terminal and typed: /usr/sbin/kernel-load /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/ideal then i typed: rm -f /etc/default/kernel-power ln -s /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/ideal /etc/default/kernel-power all appeared to work but upon reboot it went back to 600mhz i then tried the same as above and then also tried this command: /usr/sbin/kernel-load again all looked ok but on reboot it has gone back to 600mhz instead of the ideal 850mhz can anyone help me please? |
Re: Overclock the N900?
Hi I successfully updated to PR 1.2 via OTA
previously i was running titan's updated 34 kernel! with xlv 250 - 950 now it's gone I think! when i type kernel-config show it shows some kernel power flasher missing like that? what exactly do i need to do to get back titan's kernels running on PR 1.2> Thanks! |
Re: Overclock the N900?
from what i have read then it needs to be re-installed as it will of been overwritten when you upgraded to pr 1.2
see here: http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power |
Re: Overclock the N900?
so using these commands would suffice right?
Code:
sudo gainroot |
Re: Overclock the N900?
Is there any changes made to the extras-devel and extras-testing links?
My repositories are not getting refreshed, After I enabled them from PR1.2! it says link not found 404 errors! It was working previously in PR 1.1 and yes I have a working internet connection. |
Re: Overclock the N900?
have you got fremantle named in the distribution catalouge details?
