If you don't have maemo Extras among your catalogs, you can manually add it:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras If you don't have maemo Extras devel among your catalogs, you can manually add it: Application manager --> Application catalogs --> New Catalog name: maemo extras-devel Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/ Distribution: fremantle Components: free non-free |

Re: Overclock the N900?
Hmm when i try the ideal i get unexpected reboot. I have been using Lehtos 950mhz for 3 months now.
What's the next step if ideal doesn't work? And are Lehtos kernels working for PR1.2 btw? |
Re: Overclock the N900?
sorry to repost but can anyone help me this------
here is my earlier post: Hi folks, Am a bit of a newbie when it comes to overclocking but i have have installed V28. Everything looks ok apart from when i reboot it goes back to orriginal settings. I have done the following: installed pr 1.2 then installed the Enhanced Linux kernel for power users v2.6.28-maemo24. then i installed rootsh opened x terminal and typed: /usr/sbin/kernel-load /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/ideal then i typed: rm -f /etc/default/kernel-power ln -s /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/ideal /etc/default/kernel-power all appeared to work but upon reboot it went back to 600mhz i then tried the same as above and then also tried this command: /usr/sbin/kernel-load again all looked ok but on reboot it has gone back to 600mhz instead of the ideal 850mhz can anyone help me please? |
Re: Overclock the N900?
Hey Titan, updated firmware via flasher and upgraded to v37 (thank you gabby) and all is working fine here. Thank you for your hard work!

Re: Overclock the N900?
When I upgraded from v34 to v37 using HAM, after reboot my phone would no longer boot up and I had to reflash the stock PR1.2 kernel. Just a heads up in case anyone else has similar problems.

Re: Overclock the N900?
Can anybody help. I have been trying to get this work for the past 5 hours.
I got v37 installed. When i try. /usr/sbin/kernel-load /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/ideal I get unexpected reboot. When i try lv, ulv or xlv i get command is deprecated but it still says it succussfully loaded it. Conky is showing the normal max 600mhz. Am i getting something wrong here? I had zero reboot or problem using 1ghz lehto kernel and 3 months of using Lehtos 950mhz. |

Re: Overclock the N900?
Hi, how do you know what version of the kernel you are running?
I ran kernel-config load lv then kernel-config limits 250 900 and its running great, but wouldn't mind knowing the version i've got. |

Re: Overclock the N900?
I've reflashed my phone both rootfs and eMMC using the latest PR 1.2 images. Brand spanking new. =)
Now I've installed most of apps that I use and also am running v37 without any issues @ 1Ghz (ideal). All looking good so far. Awesome work titan! |

Does the ideal got something different to Lehtos custom kernels? |

Code:

/usr/sbin/kernel-config limits - 1000Code:
/usr/sbin/kernel-config load idealwhat i know is that, Lehto's are hard coded (just replace the max 600mhz with a higher freq), maybe titan and lehto's ideal kernels have the same voltages but differ in terms of customization. (please correct me if i am mistaking) |

Re: Overclock the N900?
installed PR 1.2, how do you bring version information back after overclocking? previously mentioned code is not working.

Thought how do i get the overclock last now? As far as i have understood using above will get back to default after rebooting like it does to me. |
Re: Overclock the N900?
Just making sure what I've gathered is correct:
The voltages should reset every time you reboot, correct? Also, is it out of the ordinary that my lower limit is set to 125 yet in conky, I never see it dip below 250? |

Code:
rm -f /etc/default/kernel-power |

so even you have 125mhz freq available, your lowest freq in default is still 250mhz (except if you change the avoid freq settings |
Re: Overclock the N900?
hi titan!
I updated via OTA! and running kernel 37 with xlv 250 - 950... smooth as ever;;; :) |

Re: Overclock the N900?
as you updated via OTA, your settings will be there intact! you just need to re-install! and reboot!
|
Re: Overclock the N900?
sorry i have no experience with lehto's kernels! hope someone will post a help for you soon...

Re: Overclock the N900?
I tried making new threads on the issue but nobody seems to reply.
Stayed up all night to get this resolved. Maybe it make more sense posting here... My question is: Someone said that I have to uninstall power kernel first if I use the OTC update to PR1.2. So I don't have to do that if I use NSU? What about the disclaimer of power kernel that says that NSU "become broken"? So now I'm trying to uninstall the overclocked power kernel so I could update to PR1.2 OTC. And I'm following the deinstallation instructions here But when I enter the command apt-get install --reinstall -y kernel kernel-flasher I get this error: E: You don't have enough free space in /var/cache/apt/archives/ I tryed uninstalling a bunch of apps to free up room but still no luck Please someone help me. This is very frustrating. |

Re: Overclock the N900?
there is no need to de-install if you just want to update through OTA!
i think you meant OTA and not OTC! if it is the case, just do the update via OTA, no deinstallation etc! just reinstall the kernel once you updated via OTA! |
Re: Overclock the N900?
We already learned that OTA upgrades don't require uninstalling the kernel first.
For NSU it is also not necessary. Where did you find a disclaimer about power kernel breaking NSU ??? getting enough free space for the upgrade may be quite difficult, especially for non-experts. try the NSU or reflashing instead. Quote:

Re: Overclock the N900?
I updated via OTA to PR1.2 and upgraded to v37 after that. To Make the power-kernel work i just had to do a reboot and then type the to commands in xterm and i was up and running like before the PR update :D
The commands: /usr/sbin/kernel-config load ideal /usr/sbin/kernel-config limits 500 1000 Nice work Titan ;) |
Re: Overclock the N900?
WOW thanks for quick replies
I spent all night looking for help with deinstallation the disclaimer section 2 I was afraid to connect the N900 to NSU because of that (didnt want bricking). I'm a bit of a noob as you can tell :) I can't believe I've a headache right now for nothing! So relieved... |
