Enable Extras-Testing in the App Manager and you can install kernel-power42 click-click.

can you give us a little more info here? Id love to copy what you did but i/we might need a little guidance to get there, ive updated to 42 and run the multiboot --reinstall but from what you say more actionsa re needed to get this boot option going....if you could be so kind...

getting the "Can't flash kernel, required files not found
guru meditation #00000025, 62017712" issue

not wanting to cross post but i listed what i did step by step here http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...669#post868669

Edit: (fixed)
as pointed out below:

Code:

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

all fixed and booting, repoting right with kernel-config show

embarasingly simple  i guess the new flasher wasnt there to be run - lots of new kernel power based bits and bobs came down thankyou! . . .sorry

massive thanks to titan for updating it to include the pr1.3 updates :D

Thanks Titan !

Re: Overclock the N900?

1) Download kernel-power_2.6.28-maemo42_armel.deb from the repository.
2) Extract the fiasco image (I used 7-zip in windows)
3) Extract the kernel from the fiasco image with the flasher (In windows, flasher-3.5.exe -F name_of_file.fiasco -u)
4) Renamed the resulting zImage file to vmlinuz-2.6.28.10power42
5) Copy this file to /boot/multiboot
6) Copied /etc/multiboot.d/01-Maemo-kernel-power40 to 02-Maemo-kernel-power42
7) Edited the new file to point to the new kernel
8) Reboot.

Hi, I upgraded to maemo42 and tried using FCam but got the grey screen and then tried to run builtin camera but got "internal error" msg. Then I shutdown N900, took battery and sim out and tried using the builtin cam after the boot but still it failed with the same message. Anyone else? Now I've reinstalled the stock one.

Re: Overclock the N900?

Yes, none of camera applications work right now with power42
i believe its happened in PR1.2 and Titan fixed it. Probably its happening again now with PR 1.3

1) low level panasonic formatter, google/dl/installed and low level format the card, and then window to install fat/fat32.
OR
2) wiki/xterm/root/sfdisk

how can i fix this if my n900 isn't responding?

i updated kernel power w/o checking here first. :(

Re: Overclock the N900?

I don't use multiboot but this http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power#I...d_installation
might help.

The zImage needed for multiboot and u-boot is provided by kernel-power-bootimg.
I plan to make kernel-power a u-boot image by default in the future.

regarding camera problems: it seems fcam-drivers needs to be recompiled. uninstalling fcam+fcam-drivers makes the camera work for me.

Bless900 is also non functional - uses the fcam drivers. Bit of a bugger that as I love that app.

Re: Overclock the N900?

I've OC'd to 250 900 with default voltage. So far it seems to be the only configuration that plays video without crashing.
I've noticed that my phone spends less time running at 100% CPU than it did on the stock kernel and settings. Can that be? I also seem to be getting MUCH better life out of my battery.

thanks. I guess the patches I've just uploaded with power43 should be about the same
(except for UHCI+EHCI modules, which AFAIK do not make sense?).
Now we can start testing USB hostmode with power43 as well.

power43 also contains the u-boot bootloader, so you should be able to boot MeEgo and others OSs with it.

if you have fcamera installed, you need to upgradehttp://n900.tannerlab.com/kernel/fca....7-1_armel.deb

i have installed power 42, did all the steps necessary (unplug, reboot)
i don't have fcam drivers installed
but when trying to load settings (ideal) in xterm
it says load successfull and phone reboots next second
i didn't have previous settings (flashing in osx, 2 weeks ago)
will try power 43 now to see if better
is there any command to see what happened after loading settings?

Re: Overclock the N900?

ok... let me boil it down to the essence...

Upgraded to kernel power v44....
also did the upgrade of the fcam driver.... by dpkg -i

first restart... it started with uboot.. then multiboot... but multiboot cant boot up the power kernel cos it has not been change yet...
So restart the phone in stock.. then --reinstall multiboot-kernel-power..

2nd restart... all started well even with the new power kernel v44...
Fcam working too... yee haw..

Thanks to all who have worked hard in this project...
