yeah, my only issue is the audio and camera. i believe some people already overcome this issue (camera wise) but i don't know why am i being an exception. :) |
Re: Overclock the N900?
After trying again stock kernel, MohammadAG ver.40 kernel + usb host patches, I retried
Now mass storage works again, in my hands, with Titan's ver.45. This is weird. |

i think it is the v45... i wanna confirm do i still install i2c-tools for h-e-n to work?

Re: Overclock the N900?
I have determined that - at least in my device - power kernel v.45 can't reliably initiate mass storage mode when connecting the N900 to an external host computer via usb.
When connecting the usb cable, dmesg outputs Code:
twl4030_usb twl4030_usb: HW_CONDITIONS 0xd0/208; link 2Code:
twl4030_usb twl4030_usb: HW_CONDITIONS 0x50/80; link 1In order to reinstate the normal operation, I have either to pull out the battery for 30 minutes (5 are not enough) or reflash the stock kernel. Hope this report reaches Titan for refining his fine work. |
Re: Overclock the N900?
btw... i saw the new kernel power v46....
This custom kernel contains additional modules for IPv6, packet filtering, QoS, NAT, tunneling, kernel configuration, Wifi mesh networking, builtin ext3 for booting from other media, ext4, XFS, reiserfs, NTFS read support, ISO9660, UDF, CIFS, automounter, squashfs, unionfs, device mapper and dm-loop, cryptography, cryptoloop, EFI partitions, UTF8 codepages, mouse+joystick input, PPP, PPTP, radio RDS, serial support, USB/IP and generic USB device drivers, battery info, WLAN monitoring, overclocking, kexec and experimental USB hostmode support. how do i get the USB hostmode working? |

Re: Overclock the N900?
Other than a somtimes having to try a few times in order to sucessfully boot up all the way (it never lasted long enough to start to worry me), i've not had any issues with v45, and i like having the console show during boot (would rather if it also showed during the Maemo boot itself in place of/under/overlaid on the KITT throbber and stuff, but that is whole'nother thread)

Re: Overclock the N900?
I haven't mass storage mode with ver 46 either. Mass storage - reliable - stops at ver. 40 for me.

BTW there is 1 issue on uboot kernel power... but not that critical. If I reboot the device(typing reboot from xterm, reboot from apps, reboot from systemui) then the phone never successfully boot itself. It's just stuck on uboot till it shuts off. But a simple power off and on did the trick. And I noticed whenever I do a reboot UBoot doesn't detect my mmc. but on a power of mode it detects it. Wonder if doing a power off and on should fix your problem? |

no audio and camera after v46....
rebooting.... EDIT: nope......i hear nothing....:) |

Re: jakiman's N900 Overclocking Guide
This is awsome!! My phone is super fast now! Although i have a couple of questions... and i appologise if its been mentioned already
I've overclocked to... load lv and 500 900 and alls well but after a couple minutes runtime when i verify "kernel-config show" its shows min. frequency 125 max. frequency 900 I tried the avoid 125 command but same again? Can i ask if it matters and/or does it make much difference how i set the min frequency? My next question is... I'm still pr1.2 (voda) so god knows when my next update will be, does this kernel work on pr1.3 if so is the process exactly the same and also when my update is available do i need to revert back to stock kernel before i do my update? Sorry for all the questions but i just wanna keep using this power kernel as its changed my phone completly! Thanks in advance... Nath |
Re: Overclock the N900?
now that you can download the cpufreqUI, do you still need to go around the xterm to overclock it?? Which is better?
|
Re: Overclock the N900?
I just loaded the ideal profile in xterm and set it as default, so it loads at boot. No GUI required at all....

Re: Overclock the N900?
Just wanted to report in.
Great thread. Stable at 1150 LV. Muahahaha. |
Re: Overclock the N900?
So, overclocked my N900 last night and got a strange side effect that I haven't seen reported.
The wifi signal on the device running the modified kernel was much reduced over a stock device. The devcie seemed to be 'deaf' to any wireless N signals and G signals were very much attenuated. I switchedthe kernel back and it all worked fine again! I also had another un-modified N900 next to the overclocked one and that was fine.... so it wasn't the wifi signal. Any suggestions. Overclocking this device really beings it to life.... Cheers, John. |
Re: Overclock the N900?
Did you overclock by using power-kernel? If so, what is the wifi situation if you use power-kernel and not overclock? If it has the same problem, then your problem is not related to overclocking.
|
Re: Overclock the N900?
Overclocked from the repository/catalog manager. Tried various overclocked settings, voltages and even not over-clocked but on the new kernel. The wifi was attentuated and unusable.
Switched back to the stock kernel and no problems. So, it appears related to the new kernel to me (and not sopecifically to the overclocking of that kernel). Cheers, John |
Re: Overclock the N900?
Gna go blank flash pr1.3 and try the power kernel, used it before and it rendered my device unstable however being in 700 mhz was a beautiful experience, will report back soon.

Re: Overclock the N900?
Installed power kern 42 from app man, installed perfectly, video working audio working, and hopefully oc will work well too, wohooo me happy :D. (using the oc gui)
|
Re: Overclock the N900?
Just installed v46 and the drivers for fcam, vid and aud working perfectly. Running lv 250-950 as I had been before PR 1.3.
Haven't noticed any wifi issues. |
Re: Overclock the N900?
what about con konvalis bfs scheduler!? is this considered upstream for any kernel-power?

Re: Overclock the N900?
Guys
My brother was holding off from installing the latest Titan kernel update (not sure which version) for ages. He finally installed it two days ago. Ever since then, when he tries to use his camera, he gets an error message. I should also mention he has Bless N900 installed – not sure if that matters. Any tips on how he can get the camera working again without having the restore the backup he took prior to installing the kernel update? Thanks. |
Re: Overclock the N900?
@tmarinos
I always used titan's kernel oc'd, never had problems except with v45. I never did however managed to get blessn900 working. It kept crashing, could be a conflict with kernel power or something else. I also never got the f-cam driver to work, it crashes my default camera app. |
Re: Overclock the N900?
does this titan's kernel work with the latest h-e-n- GUI? for USB hosting mode?
as in does it work with the app stated here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...891#post901891 |

Re: Overclock the N900?
i saw that the archos internet tablets have the ARM A8 cortex running at 1ghz on stock.
does that mean that actually the arm a8 IS capable of running on that speed without any repercussions? |

I'm using 'starving' profile (not every device can function with these low voltages). At 1GHz it uses the same amount of power as it would "normally" do at the stock 600MHz. |
Re: Overclock the N900?
I think i tried starving but could not run that many applications as i could on the lv or ulv profiles...
so... your starving has not had ANY problems or lagging issues eh? good for you then... Maybe i'll try every now and then and see how it goes |

I've had problems like everybody else but I'm almost certain they weren't related to OC'ing but rather some bad coding here and there (lot's of -devel stuff)... ;) |
