I've been running at 900MHz for about 10 hours; no issues accessing my memory card.

950Mhz + 500Mhz DSP! So far so good!
I'm playing NFS III in psx4all and some GBA demoscene demos :P

The device is so much more responsive at 900:D

Where do I find fiasco-flasher package / bin? Apt-get didn't find the package. I don't have fremantle-tools repo installed and I can only find fiasco-image-update and fiasco-do-update tools from my N900.

is this not the stock kernel just modified?

how can we restore firmware information in "settings--> about"?

Should we create a WiKi on overclocking? or is this not allowed as a wiki?

Re: Overclock the N900?

Thank you Lehto and all other contributors here.

I've been using the 125-900Mhz kernel for some hours now. No problems yet and it's definitely faster now.

- I've tried calling from it and to it. Sended and received sms. Most important tests :)
- Tried Mario Kart under DR.NOKSNES and it run smother than before.
- Tested youtube.com and svtplay.se (a swedish web tv page, higher resolution then youtube) and it works now. It was barely usable before.
- Tested some games among them Angry birds and the game Gweled(awsome game).
- Had several apps running simultaneously.

Didn't notice that the device got any warmer compared to before. Hara (no: 666 LOL) has a valid point. Joikuspot for sure will be a though test. It almost made my device glow at factory settings. Dare I try :-) It may send my phone to a very hot place.

I think it is part of the system. You just dont't see it before you are root (type "sudo gainroot" in terminal).

It is in /usr/sbin/fiasco-flasher

It is in /usr/sbin/fiasco-flasher

Already tried with root and cannot find /usr/sbin/fiasco-flasher

fiasco-do-update and fiasco-image-update are located at /sbin/

fiasco-image-update /path/zImage --> not a valid fiasco image, skipping

edit: ok I am downloading now fiasco-image from http://mohammadag.ucoz.com/maemo/zImage825.fiasco and then the fiasco-image-update should work

edit2: done & 825mhz kernel runs fine without any problems (so far..)

If you guys want to benchmark the browser after you've overclocked, i'd suggest you run this benchmark in full screen

http://www2.webkit.org/perf/sunspide...sunspider.html

I know it's a webkit benchmark, but it should be a pretty good measure when comparing different clock speeds.

If you run the benchmark, make sure to note your score (should be the Total up top) and any overclocks you've done.

For me: 37233.6ms @ 600mhz (stock)

Waiting for my battery to charge so I can flash to 800mhz kernel!

I've read the wiki page on the maemo flasher, and a lot of pages on here stating that the battery must be fully charged. I'm impatient however, so does it really need to be full to flash the kernel?

This post helped me:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=316

And reading the Wiki page on the Flasher tool also says how to flash the kernel, it actually seems pretty simple!

I think I did mine when my battery was 35% full. lol. As long as you know your battery isn't going to die on you during the 1second it takes to flash the kernel, you are fine. Battery full recommendation is to just be super duper safe. But if you are flashing via usb anyways, the USB cable is charging your phone anyways so no need for it to be full.

Thanks, I have now flashed to 800mhz, had about 40% battery. Didn't realise it'd only take a second haha!

I'll see how it goes, might go too 900mhz soon.

Sunspider benchmarks from other browsers:
N900 @600 Firefox: 16488.6ms
iPhone 3GS Safari: 17360 ms*
Nexus One 14409 ms*
iPad: 10475 ms*
* Source: anandtech.com

It seems that the Firefox javascript engine (Tracemonkey) is a lot better than the one in MicroB, so how about running the test on Firefox @900MHz?

Dude, you are currently the unofficial smartphone javascript champion! :D

I hope the same js engine ends up on MicroB too.
