Autorotate seems to work for me. I tested it with Feedingit, the rss program, and it promptly reshaped itself into portrait when I turned the phone appropriately.

It looks to me like you didn't run the program from within the Zimage directory, or you improperly capitalized Zimage when it should be lower case. You have Zimage as the name of a directory, but the file starts with zimage, not capitalized.

At least, that's my guess.

Is there a way of restoring this info without a full reflash?

I managed to restore mine. It was
apt-get install --reinstall mp-fremantle-generic-pr
followed by a reboot.

Edit: it might also be mp-fremantle-003-pr or something else depending on your firmware variant

This is to avoid having to perform a full reflash when restoring to default.?

Run as root:

apt-get install --reinstall kernel kernel-flasher

No, it's version information restore :)
The kernel is left alone... Running a custom kernel with intact version information now.

Must the N900 be connected via USB while flashing directly on device? would be very strange...

Sorry, my mistake - use 'fiasco-flasher'

That way people can use the supplied kernel images to flash directly on their N900s.

Take it, it is attached.

It's something I took note of some time ago, during the firmware updates. Mine is the Middle East/North African version.

Re: Overclock the N900?

strange... after flashing to a 900mhz kernel yesterday i havent bothered checking 'about device' untill today after reading about how to restore the version info, just expecting to see the usual unknown fields... However all info in still there with no unknown's? flashed with fiasco if that makes a difference?

Re: Overclock the N900?

Approaching 48 hours with the 900 MHz kernel; no problems. Just restored my version info (apparently I am varient 002). And for those who are complaining about staying steady at 500 MHz while charging, are you using the USB cable for charging or an AC adaptor? I keep mine connected to an AC adaptor (the one included with the U.S.A. version) and mine stays at 125 MHz while charging.

jakiman 2010-04-06 00:49

Re: Overclock the N900?

It stays idle at 500Mhz when charging from the USB cable via PC.
It will idle at 125Mhz when charging from AC adapter however.
I believe this is normal behaviour. Not a fault of the Lehto's kernel.

btw. I updated my OC Guide in sig with version info update also.
