What about Gangstar? I would like to know why none of these games are running so that I can figure out what I'm overlooking as need for speed worked perfect straight away.

Re: Palm Pre gets SDL! native gaming

Ok I've got the games successfully running. I only got a chance to check out the Sims 3 and everything went well(except the music continued to play even though I silenced it in the game's options). I hope the first post/ other documentation gets cleaned up to help out those trying to use the app. Maybe someone can make a front end so you can set custom app icons(because mine has a little blue square above the app name) and to help those who aren't comfortable with the command line.

Now my next question is do other WebOS apps work with this setup?

Possible example app to use here?

Real Soccer and Uno, both load, but are squashed to half the screen ( similiar to tetris )

will try and package the error log for real soccer.

If anyone wants a GUI for this (zenity), first ensure that zenity is installed (I don't know if it's there by default) then add
this command in Queen Beecon:

(zenity --file-selection) | preenv

Can we make this work from eMMC instead? This is a problematic issue if our App Partition is getting too full. The games are huge by the way.

I may have been living under a rock, but I have to ask: given the hardware and software similarities, how come the Pre is getting all this commercial development while the N900 virtually none? Does it pretend to have snake oil^W^WDRM and is that enough to attract interest, or has Nokia dropped the ball even more badly than we thought?

Any sane discussion will now be hard to follow on this thread, but that's a question I am yet to answer too.

The Palm Pre (and Pre2) has more users than the N900 ever will.

How to install preenv? Can't seem to find this in application manager (extra-devel enabled).

Is it possible to load it from eMMC instead and also use Keyboard as replacement of on screen buttons?

It's virtually impossible to play game that requires multitouch. :(

Follow the instructions for creating a ext3 file on your Mydocs (or sdcard) in the first few pages of this thread. Mount the file - copy your game folders to the new mount point. Play as normal. When done you can unmount the file.

Failing this - if you have a nitdroid install then you have a nice 2gb ext3 part already on your sdcard with a bunch of free space. Mount that part and follow above.

Re: Palm Pre gets SDL! native gaming

I updated wiki with a Small FAQ and Compatibility List based off this thread. Find it here http://wiki.maemo.org/Preenv I will do what I can to keep it updated but if the status of a game changes or if a new game is tried please update wiki. When this thread hits 100 pages it would be hard to find information in it.
