Changing Themes and Rebooting Can Brick Youre N900
Changing themes to new buggy themes will brick youre device This was the reason for me having to flash my N900 for the 1st time... oh, and the 2nd time!! But I have found that phone may be recoverable from this! If it is only stuck while booting: * (*) * * * Go here and try this! http://wiki.maemo.org/User:Jebba/Flash I am yet to try this, so cannot say myself if it works so be careful!! |

I wish people would stop using the word "brick" when they really mean "cause you to reflash".

ps - anyone install the "extra decoders support"...i did but then my device was lagging a lot so i uninstalled it. plus i couldnt see my media - hmmm, perhaps i didnt restart?? is that working well with you guys? |

Do you have the output from dmesg before you reflashed? Which themes do you feel were the problem. How did you install them? Had you installed any third party apps? Were any from the testing or devel repos?

i was using the *reboot* button after changing the themes
i think those combined caused a boot problem |

interesting, I think you should see the later link to bugzilla from my signature. that * (*) * * * is similar to "getbootstate bricks device after 17 random reboots when there are no normal reboots between" (or what was it again?!)
e: if I understood correctly the counter will be fixed in FW update and yes, yours is exactly the same when I looked the wiki. Quote:
